.. and ending the system wars as we know it. Do you think it would be a good / bad thing for the industry?

SONY does the hardware manufacturing (assembly line only)

MS the OS + hardware architecture + online

Apple does the design + OS interface + iTunes app

and Nintendo (along with the rest) release their exclusive titles on this console.

No competition. They will release a console without trying to 1up themselves as hard if there were multiple parties involved. It would be a bad thing.

They could ask a bazillion dollars for that theoretically, so no I don't think that would be smart. Competition is almost always good.

It probably wouldn't be a very good console. The starting price would be unreasonably high, the online would likely cost more than Live, and there'd be no reason for them to update the system throughout it's lifespan, unless they wanted people to pay for patches.

I think someone would have to pinch me, as I would I would be in a dream state. This is my take on this. MS is a great software company. Apple can only work on aesthetic, I would not let them touch any software or hardware. ITunes, man that thing is one of the worst pieces of software and its popularity is only linked to that of the devices sold, and certainly not anything to do with it being good product. Nintendo, should just make games. Their hardware is mediocre at best, but I think they should put a hand into the design side of the hardware. But it is a strange debate since this thing would never happen.

So we would have Sony promising the world, MS telling us we already have the world, and Apple charging us the world. Sounds great :(

Somehow, I can't picture that happening. But, it would be funny to see the reaction of the fanbois.

Well, it's like that old joke.

In heaven, Sony does the interface, MS does the online service, Apple does the hardware design, and Nintendo does the exclusive games.

In hell, Sony does the online service, MS does the hardware design, Apple does the exclusive games, and Nintendo does the interface.

It'll be the best marketed pile of trash since there will only be one console on the market.

And what exactly is wrong with the cell? It is more powerful then the CPU of the 360, and with a great GPU and RAM that isn't split, plus the fact that it was the only console out there, I don't think it would be an issue. You should maybe learn up a little more, Sony might not be that great with Software, but other then a few mistakes, they know their hardware better then MS.

Talk about too many chefs in the kitchen. It would have some good points I'm sure but it would still be bested by home PC's before it even hit the streets. Sticking with mah PC, thx!

Well you slightly fail for not acknowledging Nintendo's genius when it comes to innovative controllers, since they do tend to make the best controllers in world generation after generation (most of the modern control standards were done properly for the first time in one of Nintendo's controllers), which I think is something you should have suggested they handle in this collaboration too. Other than that I think it would be a potentially very good thing if we just had one console standard, like DVD players, and everyone developing for that one system.

So you'd like an over-priced, breaking, hard to program for and motion-control based console, eh? :P
