If Cows think PS5 is getting any "headline" first party games before 2022, I have a bridge to sell you.

With the exception of Horizon: Forbidden West, which aint coming before holiday 2021 at the earliest, if Cows are expecting wall to wall bangers in the PS5's first 2 years, you are setting yourself up for dissapointment.

Im defining a "headline game" as the next mainline installment developed by the primary team of Sony's flagship AAA studios. The "A-team" in other words. The "real" games you are all buying the system for. The next mainline NaughtyDog project. God of War: Ragnarok, the "proper" Spider Man 2. etc.

Not a side project, a half game, Season Pass DLC "Standalone" game, or rushed 1st year launch titles.

All of Sony's studios are currently accounted for. All have either just wrapped big projects, or have only recently started big projects which will not be due for a long, LONG time. Also, most of them we know or can easily intuit what they are doing.

For now, You'll get the PS5's equivalent of Killzone ShadowFall, Infamous: Second Son, and The Order:1886, I.E. "undercard" games that arbitrarily on paper couldnt run on the previous console, but are still "mid" ass games that will be permanently relegated to the dust bin of history after one year.

Xbox will get these "mid" games too, but they also have alot of studios that are not currently accounted for, or are due for big projects that have been in the pipes for a while.

First it’s power, now it’s games... the little lemming insecurity threads are amusing to say the least. Maybe those 15 new studios won’t be used for gamepass filler games.

Why 2 years? Usually what happens is the first year there is the launch titles, a bit of a gap and quiet period (this is a great time to try and land a hit if you are a smaller developer), then some 3rd parties start releasing their big titles towards the end of the first year and the platform holder generally has one of its big guns ready to fire.

so why would this gen be any different?

Maybe sony japan/team ico genDesign (aww no more team ico :( ) have a big surprise in the works. when they do something it generally gathers much interest. it doesn't always work out but....hey...2/3 aint bad. the last guardian was released quite some time ago....so.....

actually scratch that...it was released in 2016..... we still may be waiting until end of gen for their next game :P.

when is GT7 out? Surely thats at or close to launch at this stage. Polyphony have been quiet. GT has a proven track record (excuse the pun) of shifting hardware.

Let's not forget that Spiderman is a launch title coming out this year and Horizon is slated to come out next year. I guess we'll see what TC means by headline when those games come out.

Infamous Second Son is really good. I would love to see a a game of that quality in the first year.

Please do not put the Spiderman: Miles Morales and the cross gen games in the same bunch. The Spiderman game is being built with the ps5 in mind. Not so much with the cross gen titles.

Please do not put the Spiderman: Miles Morales and the cross gen games in the same bunch. The original Spiderman game is being built modified with the ps5 in mind and released only on PS5. Not so much with the In the same way as cross gen titles being released on/after series X.

It did well on PS4 no reason why a pumped up version with expansion released on PS5 wont score well.

It doesn't seem very redundant when I turned it on this morning and thats the way it will be once the series X comes out. I can still play my old and new games on the X. The only time it will become redundant is when I buy a Series X thanks to Microsoft I dont have to do that at launch I can do it when I'm ready. Unlike your PS4 that starts becoming redundant the 2nd the PS5 comes out and you cant play new games on it.

if you really think the decision to put it only on PS5 is technical, well that just shows how far in bed with Sony you are. They using same world and resources from the original Spiderman.

Naaa, a PS4 game with an addon wrapped up as a PS5 game to make people buy a new console wouldn't hurt anyone just annoy PS4 owners that want to play the game.

@ermacness: Well if the Spiderman add-on on PS5 gets more than 92 on MC that will be considerably above the 87 the original game got on PS4.

Guerrilla games and Naughty dog are out of the game for at least three to four years. We see new titles showing up then. Insomniac probably 2 to 3 years out with spiderman. Santa Monico studio probably next year, they may have a teaser in August? Other then that Sony probably looking into purchasing third party game deals.

Pretty sure Ratchet and Gran Turismo 7 are launch / launch window games. Those are mainline installments that are from studios that are as AAA as any of Xbox's studios.

I wrote a thead on this. Unfortunately it was shut down and I was told it makes no sense. Well guess what it does. Sony just dumped most there exclusive's on the ps4, why wouldn't you with a 110 million base.

Now the ps5 base will be low in comparison for years. So why waste money making exclusives which can cost 100's of millions of dollars just to sell to lets say a 20 million base. They did what I consider a smart move in buying third party timed exclusives to help hold them off.

These are all exciting enough for me. I'm more interested in those than generic shooter Halo at this point.

I'm not sure why Lems are so quck to dismiss Spider-Man MM after they were so thrilled about Halo Reach back in the day , lol. Uncharted TLL and inFAMOUS First Light were a lot of fun and well worth playing. I'm sure Spider-Man MM will be similar in those respects.

I would love to see an HD remaster of SSX Tricky in the vein of the THPS remake. That would be a relatively inexpensive proof of concept to see if there's still a market for SSX, which could potentially lead to new titles.

I mean, has sony ever had strong launch title exclusives? Fantavision and Killzone come to mind and neither set the world on fire. Same thing with their peripheral add ons. Eyetoy, VR, and Move never took off and it’s because of poor titles to back them up.

Infamousss was a decent showing of next gen hardware but was annoying on how they didn't progress directly from that.

It showed lots of particles/effects and destruction.. but later PS4 games were mostly particles (god of war) or almost little of it (last of us2)

Animation on ss was weird though.
