Poll If GTA 6 ends up being $99.99, would you consider buying it? (64 votes)

Yes 23%
No 77%

GTA 6 is undoubtedly going to be one of the biggest games of 2025. Probably the biggest. In fact, there are rumors that publishers are waiting to know the release date so they can avoid releasing their games at that time. Can’t blame them, GTA V sold 200+ million copies. With that said, considering how popular these games are, if Rockstar were to publish their game at $99.99, would you consider buying it, SW? Let’s say it has all of the content and more that these games are known for, and are guaranteed to give you tons of hours of entertainment. And ends up being critically acclaimed as well.

Not even a download on GamePass. Really don’t like the GTA series.

Even if I loved GTA I wouldn't spend 100 dollars on a game.

@last_lap: Whatever man... this is pointless. I'll buy whatever I want, you can buy whatever you want, and everyone else will continue to give zero fucks. I don't need your approval because you misinterpreted what I wrote and think it's foolish. I tried to explain what I meant, but if you continue denying you read what I wrote which goes into more detail about what I actually meant then there's no point in this since you're just looking for a needless argument without context.

I'm not a huge fan (meaning I generally like a few other game companies more) and they are overrated in my opinion (meaning all the 9s and 10s their games get feel a little hyperinflated to me)... that doesn't have anything to do with the fact the game will still have high production value, plenty to do day one, and be worth a playthrough.. it just means none of their games really felt custom built for me like most of my favorite games have throughout the years, and I simply feel that other games have more of what I'm looking for overall. I don't limit myself to just the games I think will be perfect for me every step of the way, and fully expect GTA VI to be a 7 or 8 out of 10 (personally), but would love to be wrong. Differences in opinions is what makes the world turn.

If they remove auto aim and fix the floaty driving mechanics the game could reach new heights for me... and for those reasons I will hope those things have improved and give the game a fair chance. If that's not enough for you then nothing will be.

@WitIsWisdom: You said what you said, and yes you can buy whatever you want, and I can think its nuts to waste money on games that are overrated, and we can leave it at that.

Nope. Probably wouldn't play it if I got it for free. Got V for free and didn't play it, a repeat of that makes sense.

@SolidGame_basic: In my opinion, then only bloggers would play it, since Rock Star gave the game to them for advertising. This is a crazy price for a game. They spent a lot of money on it, but not everyone can afford to buy games for $100+.

If you're looking for a way to make some extra money to afford things like this, here https://22bet.promo/ sports betting can be an option. With smart strategies and the right platform, they can turn into an additional source of income. Just remember to play responsibly!

Be busy playing Monster Hunter: Wilds. Because I don't hate myself.

A lot of new American games are frankly shit, it's tough to gauge if the team behind such hits as- GTA: HD Trilogy would deliver what you are expecting from a franchise that's been done since the 360 generation.

I feel those still supporting these crappy USA devs are in deep denial. & probably haven't played a decent game in many years, so they don't know any better. Low standards for poor fools.

Best of luck with a developer that has zero interest providing an enjoyable product. But I think deep down you know.

Americans LOL, over here GTA 5 back on the 360 was $99.95 minimum and some stores were selling it for $109.95.

Heck back in the day (90's) I was buying new release Sega Saturn games at $99

But I wouldn't buy GTA 6 period, I wouldn't even take it if it were free.

Back in the early 1990s, some SNES games like Super Castlevania were 111 USD in my country. Corrected for inflation, that is about a whopping 250 USD in today's money.

The Saturn games I bought around 1995 were "only" 55 USD (Such as Daytona and Virtua Fighter 2). 99 USD sounds like a rip-off to me. Is everything so expensive in Australia?

The price point probably won't matter much. Diehard GTA fans, and there are many, will buy the game no matter what. Haters will avoid it at any price point. Those who are not really fans will buy the game on sale.

Imagine 200 million GTA 6 copies sold for 99 USD. I know it sounds unrealistic, but just imagine it for a second.

Remember paying $99.99 and $115.99 Canadian for Street Fighter II and Chrono Trigger on the SNES back in the day. Totally worth it by the way.

No, I won't. I typically wait on sales anyway since the games aren't going anywhere, But I Kind of lost interest in GTA V and never beat the story mode, nor did I play it online, so it's not really on my radar regardless of price.

People get too hung up on price when content is what should first be looked upon.

As far as I can tell, V has a ridiculous amount of content plus added free content and if VI is anything like its predecessor the price can be justified. That doesn't mean you want it to be priced at such an amount though.

Yeah, everything is expensive, BUT our wages for similar jobs in say the US pay way more over here.

I have never even played a gta game. I honestly can’t imagine why anyone would ever want to play a thug like that. The idea of it is revolting. Never would buy.

The series origins ironically began as Race 'n' Chase, where you played a police officer arresting criminals.

This was considered dull, later the controversy around the game was deliberately harnessed as free publicity, in conjunction with the UK media, made out as them against it, fakery.

Generally, it's a pulp cartoon, not realistic, comic book, at least the 3 and Vice City.

That vibe starts to dull at SA and completely dissipated at 4. Where suppose to feel sad, sad for Nico Le Bellick after murdered 9000 people.

Oh snap!

https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/there-is-hope-that-gta-6-will-cost-as-much-as-100-says-analyst/

Matthew Ball of Epyllion has released hisState of Video Gaming in 2025 report, which muses on how the video game industry could change in the forthcoming year.

One large focus of the report is Grand Theft Auto 6, which will doubtlessly be the biggest video game release of the year, should it make its planned 2025 release date.

According to the report, there is “hope” within the video game industry that publisher Take-Two will use the unprecedented excitement around GTA 6 in order to bump up the default price of the game to $100.

It’s believed that if Take-Two took this step with GTA 6, a game that will sell incredibly well regardless of the price, then others could follow suit, and potentially aid in recovering spiraling development costs.

GTA publisher Take-Two was one of the first to raise the price of games from $60 to $70 in 2020, using the transition to the next generation of consoles as an excuse. While it is likely that GTA 6 will be released with a $100 version as part of a line-up of various special editions, it’s currently expected that the standard case game will be $70.

Yes! As gamers we must support all pro-business moves. It is our best interest. After all the profits of multi-trillion- and billion-dollar companies is important to us and we must ensure that they are making as much money as possible at our expense. 😏

I keep seeing this floated around like it's a possibility, I keep seeing gaming outlets and influencers bringing this up which IMO if Rockstar didn't have the idea to do this then the gaming world is certainly giving them the idea by making it something they can get away with.

And despite this, I hate to say it, yes I'd bite but it needs to be said they're probably the only exception I'd make regarding such an unprecedented demand on consumers. I worry most other developers will get the idea they're in Rockstar's league and do the same, and if that happens, I think they're all in for a rude awakening. We learned with $70 games developers are still cutting corners all the same, releasing games unfinished, lacking polish, trying to patch up what they can in final hours before release, spending weeks or months post-launch getting them into the state they should have released in, not to mention releasing games with some developers putting more effort into optimizing one platform and less so for others.

$100 games, that won't change, I think it'll make issues worse because people will wait and see what problems plague games on release and be like "I'm not throwing down $100 on that" and then the publishers will be like "it's not selling very well so we're going to scale back post-launch support".

I am not getting GTA VI day one regardless of hype or whatever manufactured FOMO. The last GTA game I finished was GTA IV and the most fun I ever had with GTA was San Andreas.

Now if GTA VI have a cheat mode like san andreas I might reconsider buying it.

Agreed. I think there needs to be more variable pricing. If you want to sell the game for $100, it has to be worth the $100. Reality is, as you pointed out, $70 doesn't mean you are getting the complete game. Or you can get a great game at $70, but still not have the same level of content or quality as another game for the same price. As for people who say they don't care about the economics of game development, sure, you as a consumer don't have to care, but ultimately, AAA game development is very expensive and risky, and if you want companies to take the risk, they should be rewarded if they succeed.
