yes blame nintendo WHY? casual gamesTnasty11
I have one question for you:
Would you consider Halo a hardcore game?
Hardcore gaming will never die. Every generation of gamers will have their own definition of hardcore gaming.
If we go to what people considered hardcore gaming before, that's pretty much dead by now.

Yeah I remember people bemoaning the death of text adventures and how dumbed down games were getting. Kids now a days wouldn't know hardcore if it bit them in the ass.
1)halo is a hardcore game
2) nintendo should have went half casual and half hardcore

I recall the NES/SNES days...
Good times, tough yet fun games, no fanboys, just gamers.

You must have been raised in some hippy commune because there were system wars between Colecovision and Atari Kids by the time NES/SNES were out there was a blood feud between the Nintendo Geeksand Sega Freaks. Even with Nintendomination in the NES era us brave Sega freaks boldly stood up and said PHANTASY STAR IZ OWNAGE and there wasn't a dang thing anyone could say or do about it! I think it was me and one other kid.

I had friends that just played games. I had a SNES and I didn't know of any Genesis owners that would tell me the SNES sucked because when we played games we didn't care who made them, just as long as we liked them.

Exactly. I bet there were ATARI' fanboys' who thought that hardcore gaming died as soon as the NES came out.

Exactly!! People nowadays think harcore gaming is all about playing M rated games, and games with gore and graphics. WRONG!!!
Its not the kind of games u play but the time and effort u put in. Playing Halo a few hours a week isnt hardcore, tryin to get the high score in PAC MAN, is hardcore

Because its such a good game everyone wants it, its also a very approachable game to play. Good controls, no hassle, awesome gameplay, exciting story that draws you in, lots of fun, also adds a lot of challenge for serious players on higher difficulty (especially online).
Unless you just don't like sci-fi FPS's.

Now we get to the point. There is no such thing as a "hardcore" game or a "casual" game. There are only "hardcore" gamers and "casual" gamers. There is very little difference between the two, both "hardcore" and "casual" gamers enjoy games like Halo and Gears. The key difference is that "casual" gamers don't studu the industry or post on forums, they just play games.[QUOTE="Tnasty11"]yes blame nintendo WHY? casual gamesSonick54
So, you don't want everyone playing video games?
I confirm and understand hardcores are selfish
Haha hell no I don't want everyone playing games if it means all the games are dumbed down casual junk. I don't mind if there are games that appeal to everyone, but Nintendo completely abandoned hardcore gaming a long time ago.... their entire aim is all casual appeal now. And even hardcore sheep are screwed by this. Nintendo has prettymuch said there will be no more traditional Zelda games and that they'll focus on small games. Say good bye to your favorite franchises for the sake of a higher profit margin sheep.

A casual gamer would be scared off by the likes of STALKER or Neverwinter Nights, just as a hardcore gamer gets bored quickly with Warioware or Elebits.

You make a good point. But as I see it, games are just games. I wish others would see it like that...You make a good point. But as I see it, games are just games. I wish others would see it like that...slothboyadvance
A good game is a good game.
I mean I personally do have a frame of reference for ''casual'' and ''hardcore'' games (even Nintendo does), but I'm not arrogant enough to segregate gamers out of spite for their individual tastes like some. Just as long as there is balance within the force.
