you honestly think that? :lol: The ONLY way they'd ever be on multiple disc would be if the devs had to use the same technique as they do with the PS3. That technique is called multiple copies of general gaming data. The PS3 suffers big time by having an extremely slow BR drive and a serious lack of RAM. The 360 can run circles and circles around the PS3 when it comes to uncompressing data. A game on the 360 such as Oblivion. The PS3 version of the game was forced to have 3 copies of the main land file where as the 360 version only had one. This means that off of that one single file alone, the PS3 version jumped up to using 3x the space as the 360 counterpart. That coupled with programmers having to leave textures and audio files uncompressed for speed sake ONLY proves how inferior the PS3 hardware truely is.

The ONLY reason BR is even needed for the PS3 is simply because the system lacks so much more then what it gains in the long run. The Cell obviously hasn't done squat for compression and BR hasn't made it possible for developers to deliver these huge games that Sony was talking about.

Truth is that the PS3 is the most overhyped pile this generation and only the illinformed believe otherwise.

first compress all of the uncompressed audio then if it still doesnt fit put it on another disc, not a big deal.

really? why not? Seems as if having over 17GB of the games size taken up just by audio that it would be quite possible to cut back on even more unnessesary waste of space files that all PS3 games have these days. Multiple copies of general data most likely takes up close to another 10GB and uncomrpessed HD textures would come close to that as well. In short, more then half of the game is a needless waste of space seeing how the PS3 can't uncompress data quickly enough when compared to the 360 abilities to run circles around the pathetic PS3 compression tools. :lol:

I just don't think people like to admit they're wrong. Anyways, you're probably partially right in that most developers don't compress data to get around the PS3's slower read times, but I think Kojima would have had everything uncompressed regardless.

Both 360 and PS3 graphics look jsut as good as the other. If it was on 360, it would look the same. black_awpN1

I dunno Burnout and GTA4? Most multiplatforms look better on the 360 but its becoming the otherway since lots of developers are working on the PS3 version first and then porting it to the 360.

I'm a cow, but I do know GTA4 on PS3 is 25 gigs and 8 or 9 gigs on 360. With that said, MGS4 is 50 gigs, With a second disc for online. So Lems could have MGS4 with two dics, with a third disc for MG online.

Yea sound quality goes down, and graphics when compressed. I know.

I personally can not wait for the day when developers start to take procedural synthesis seriously. DVD9 would even be an extremely viable format even for next gen as well. :)

Killzone 2 would look completely different, because its artistic style emphasises the advantages of the Cell's lighting capabilities and hides the drawbacks of the RSX's lack of VRAM... whether it would look better or worse is hard to tell.

The ONLY reason BR is even needed for the PS3 is simply because the system lacks so much more then what it gains in the long run. The Cell obviously hasn't done squat for compression and BR hasn't made it possible for developers to deliver these huge games that Sony was talking about.

Truth is that the PS3 is the most overhyped pile this generation and only the illinformed believe otherwise.

Hmm, how do you propose 50 gigabites of MGS4 fit onto one DVD9?

It's called compression and procedural synthesis.

I personally can not wait for the day when developers start to take procedural synthesis seriously. DVD9 would even be an extremely viable format even for next gen as well. :)

next gen is going to be blu-ray for sure and graphics are basically the same did u read the article gamespot had

graphics is out the question for ps3/360 they are equal....move on to but the ps3 has no games

are you really trying to own him based on the fact that he had to wait an extra 4 minutes to play gta4? that extra 4 minutes means no texture popping. thats just smart thinking. too bad the 360 doesnt have a HDD come standard. maybe then ME GeoW and GTA4 wouldnt have that dumb popping.

I dunno Burnout and GTA4? Most multiplatforms look better on the 360 but its becoming the otherway since lots of developers are working on the PS3 version first and then porting it to the 360.

Gta4 is not even HD on pS3

yet most reviews said the PS3 version looked better..... hmmmmmm...

If MassEffect,GeOW,and BioShock were all on PC....oh sh*t they are AND they ALL look better then the ones for the 360 :shock: since I have a PC and Im getting a PS3 I WIN!!!!

They all are on pc and looks better too:)

you honestly think that? :lol: The ONLY way they'd ever be on multiple disc would be if the devs had to use the same technique as they do with the PS3. That technique is called multiple copies of general gaming data. The PS3 suffers big time by having an extremely slow BR drive and a serious lack of RAM. The 360 can run circles and circles around the PS3 when it comes to uncompressing data. A game on the 360 such as Oblivion. The PS3 version of the game was forced to have 3 copies of the main land file where as the 360 version only had one. This means that off of that one single file alone, the PS3 version jumped up to using 3x the space as the 360 counterpart. Frankly, 4X Blu-ray drives are faster than the dirve in the X360, and 6X Blu-ray drives leave DVDs in general in the dust. Now, the currently highest proposed speed is 12X which is 54MB/S compared to the current highest for DVD which is 21.60.

Now tell me, why should we keep DVD9 for next generation?

You are lucky the 360 dosent have a Hdd as standard or the multiplats would look even worse and PS3 version also has Poppins.
