If Mario was replaced by Crash Bandicoot in SMG2 for PS3 what would it get rated

I had more fun playing SMG2 then MGS4. SMG2 was the game which deserved the 10 MGS4 on the other hand is nothing more then a 8.5-9.

exactly my point NOBODY likes the character so it will never get a 10 no matter how good the game is but everyone likes mario so its possible for him to get 10's if his game is good

Will you just stop? Not every Mario game gets a AAA score, if you have any doubts about that go check out the reviews for Super Mario Sunshine and New Super Brothers Wii.

For the last time, it got its score because of the quality gameplay, not the name on the box. Maybe if Crash starred in a half-way decent game that wasen't from the PS1 era maybe you could see his series get AAA scores.

But to answer you question, you could plug Alex Kidd, Master Higgins, or Bonk into SMG2 and it would still earn a 10. Mario being in the game does not earn the game an automatic 10.

I loved the PS1 crash games but in all fairness they have always been crap compared to Mario games, it has nothing to do with the characters its the games (or are you implying the GS staff are attracted to short over weight men with mustaches? :P).

If a crash bandicoot game ever came close to SMG and SMG2 yes I would buy it. The score has nothing to do with the main character it's the gameplay and everything else which makes the SMG games unique!

It didn't get a 10 because Mario is in the game it is just a well excuted game and possibly any character could star in.

It would be marked down in most reviews because crash (at least back in ps1 days) was not expected to be a kiddy type game

If SMG1 and 2 were Crash Bandicoot games they would get an equal amount of praise, because even if you replace Mario with the Cheetamen, those games are still by far the best 3D platformers ever created.

Then don't speak for it. Nearly everyone who says it's 'too similar' to SMG either hasn't played it, or hasn't paid attention.

GS reviews are blatantly influenced by hype or long running game series as are all game reviews. Take a game like MW2, many game sites gave it 10/10 because of the massive hype train, had it been some random 3rd party dev than it wouldn't have got these scores. I wouldn't have given it a 4.5 had it not been COD because comparable to the series it was awful. You're right there. It got a 10 for gameplay, artstyle, level of detail, challenge, ease of play, and masterful level design.

I'd agree aside from challenge and level of detail ... The game is pretty flat and ugly. The artstyle kinda blows too, but to each his own.

But anyway, SMG2 being replaced by Crash would actually work really well. Both have a spin attack and can jump on enemies to defeat them. Both characters have a long jump and high jump. Butt stomp = belly flop. Just replace enemies in the game with enemies from the Crash games plus add new ones just like Galaxy does and give Crash new power ups like Galaxy does. There's always times in the game to put in iconic Crash characters like Coco as the second playable character instead of Luigi. Some iconic characters like Tiny, Papu Papu, Ripper Roo, Cortex etc can be in the game as bosses. From a gameplay point of view Crash translates very easily to Mario Galaxy.

As for whether it would get as high scores, who cares? Maybe it would and maybe it wouldn't. Either way it wouldn't hinder my enjoyment of the game.

I love colours. I thought Viva Pinata was a wonderful looking game, with tons of charm. I just think Mario Galaxy looks flat, with little to no detail.

The "grass" is just a blob of green.

:lol: Uh, no. I love MGS, but it is broken in a lot of ways. Mario plays flawlessly. There are things in MG that feel as though they could be smoothed out. Ex: CRAWLING.

Who knows....but yes hype is part of the ratings, and flaws and achievements will magically dissapear and appear.

SMG2 is a amazing game blame the developers not the characters because Nintendo EAD are brilliant devs.

crash made halfass games ever since i think there was one crash that got over a 9 but anyway its the devs not the character not every mario game gets an 8

If it was just like Super Mario Galaxy 2 the only difference was Crash Bandicoot it still would've got a 10 here.

If it was Crash Bandicoot game made by a different developer like the companies that are currently making it I doubt they would even accomplish that because Crash is owned by Activision.
