If Mario was replaced by Crash Bandicoot in SMG2 for PS3 what would it get rated

It would have gotten 7.5-8. Mario fans don't like to admit it but the truth is having the Mario name and having Mario as the main character greatly enhances the score a game gets.Rockman999

SMG2 is a amazing game blame the developers not the characters because Nintendo EAD are brilliant devs.

crash made halfass games ever since i think there was one crash that got over a 9 but anyway its the devs not the character not every mario game gets an 8

That said, I just made it past the level where you first get Yoshi and didn't bother playing it anymore after that ... it's just not that special oO Some stupid jumps between platforms doesn't make a game epic oO

OMG, why is it so hard for some people to get why the original game got a 9.5? Read the last part of the review where it says:

When all is said and done, the thing that really makes Super Mario Galaxy such a standout game isn't the fact that it's another Mario game, but the fact that it doesn't evenneedto be a Mario game to be successful. Sure, it's got all the nostalgic flavor Mario fans would want, with the updated soundtrack, familiar foes, and various other Mario-related bric-a-brac scattered throughout the adventure, but the game never leans on these nostalgic aspects as a crutch. It instead puts the whole of its focus on its gameplay design, and with good reason. You could probably swap in just about any other characters from practically any other franchise, and this would still be a phenomenally fun game. That it layers all these memorable characters and components on top of that phenomenal design just makes it all the sweeter. If ever there were a must-own Wii game, Super Mario Galaxy is it.

If Super Mario Sunshine was a different series that would've been AAA but because it was Mario it was scored AA. It was a great game it just didn't live up to Super Mario 64.

Did you play SMG or SMG 2 at all TC ? Where's that Paper Mario pic when we need it?

You could post this 1000times in 1000 SMG hate threads and no one will notice that GS has already adressed this...2 years ago.

They don't realize that because their trying to build their hatred on a Wii game that got 100% from more than 50% of the reviewers and how they believe no Wii games should ever get perfect scores.

I wish I saw that when I rented the game.

I wonder if the TC wants to reply to us? From what's happening right now with the crazy amount of nintendo criticizing topics being created I seriously don't want SMG2 to win GOTY even though I gave it a perfect score because hundreds of nintendo topics will be created criticizing them and this game. In my mind I want SMG2 to win GOTY,but the damage control will be great.

Will you just stop? Not every Mario game gets a AAA score, if you have any doubts about that go check out the reviews for Super Mario Sunshine and New Super Brothers Wii.

For the last time, it got its score because of the quality gameplay, not the name on the box. Maybe if Crash starred in a half-way decent game that wasen't from the PS1 era maybe you could see his series get AAA scores.

But to answer you question, you could plug Alex Kidd, Master Higgins, or Bonk into SMG2 and it would still earn a 10. Mario being in the game does not earn the game an automatic 10.

if the MAIN character is terrible and people hate it, that detracts from the whole game, so the game loses points. And doesn't get a 10.

As long as it's not like Mind over Mutant or the other latest Crash Games.

Hell, it could be Super Mario Galaxy 2 + Cats and it would still be a 10.

One more thing about this idea of getting a free ride off a famous character. Check Sonic the Hedgehog. Know who he is? Was Mario's RIVAL back in the day. That's right, he RIVALED Mario, that's really impressive. Millions upon millions of fans worldwide, had a ton of classic games. Check the score for Sonic Unleashed, I'll give you a few seconds..................... check it? You may have noticed it has a 3.5 on the PS3 and 360 versions (7.0 for Wii because the VERY much improved controls made the game actually playable). Why doesn't a Sonic game get a free ride? There's a good bit of Sonic nostalgia I'm sure. But it got THRASHED. How does this happen? Is it maybe because Sonic Unleashed is a bad game, and SMG2 is a great one, so they get the scores they earn?
