If MGS4 came out this year, it would still get GOTY!

Impatient hardcore twitch action shooter fans will disagree (others as well). I enjoy all genres of gaming.... nothing has came close this generation as to what MGS4 did for the industry... just read the reviews people!

Agreed that it will still be GOTY especially the graphics would have been 3 times better and not a sub-hd if it came out this year.sethman410

It would be a contender, and if it was any other year I would say yes, but this year has some HUGE games coming out that could very well match or beat it. BF3, Skyward Sword, Uncharted 3, maybe Diablo III and more.

Threads like this are reason why people love to trash MGS4. People make such ridiculous claims about it and it just makes you want to bash it.

What in the world did the game do for the industry? What did it influence? How many games show signs of being influenced by it? What games in particular? What trends did it start?

What games did Majoras Mask influence? I can't think of one really, but that game is amazing ;). There are games every now and then that are not influential but are amazing believe it or not.

I'm suprised the game won GOTY at release. I'm watched Naruto filler that was more enjoyable than Metal Gear Solid 4.

What games did Majoras Mask influence? I can't think of one really, but that game is amazing ;). There are games every now and then that are not influential but are amazing believe it or not.

The only problem with this is I didn't say that Majora's Mask influenced anything or did anything for the industry. So why is it relevant again?

To be a game that has done more for the industry than any of other game, you kind of do have to have some kind of influence on the indiustry, no?

After all, that is the TC's claim, is it not?

A subsistence version would be nice, have the game actually be 720p and improve the frame rate 60 FPS :D Yeah I buy it again and it be my GOTY

If it had come out this year it would have been a great game lost amongst hordes of other great games the same way MGS3 was, that game was brilliant but didn't have anywhere near the impact MGS2 had. GOTY this year is going to be ES:V though 8).

Because the Gamespot reviewer felt it deserves that score? But that doesn't mean it will get the same score if it was reviewed right now, almost three years later.

Many game designers are perfectionists. But, shockingly, it takes more than one person to develop a retail PS3 exclusive these days.

Skyrim, BF3, and U3 would steal all the awards from MGS4 if it came out this year

I still think the best exclusive the PS3 has is Demon's Souls. Also, there are some amazing games coming out this year.

But the problem is this pops up anytime halo or killzone is even mentioned. The conversation quickly dissolves into a graffixs vs. scores argument that goes nowhere. It is not limited to KZ is the fps king or Halo is the chamo threads unfortunately.

I never said this. Please don't put words into my mouth. What I said is that for the TC's claim (that nothing did as much for the industry as MSG4) to be valid, the game needs to be ifluential. Do you disagree with that?
