Would anybody actually care? It wouldnt be enough for me to hate a great game just cause I had to switch disks every few hours.

well as for this one I was reading some of them and thought of this question so I thought I would make a thread. Besides its better than arguing over sales for a change. Why are all the MGS4 threads coming up?

Why does MGS4 take up so much BD space anyway? I could see it having no install, and being on one disc.Master-Thief-09all the audio files are uncompressed

Because GDC is around the corner, and this seems to be the game most lems are looking forward to. :P
If it were ported to 360 and had multiple discs, 360 players would be better off because the 5 seconds it takes to swap a disc is a lot shorter than the few minutes it takes to do the mandatory install every chapter on PS3.
Whoa, this is like the 4th MGS4 360 thread I've seen within 2 hours. TC, you know something we don't or what? Anyway, Yes cows would go crazy an you'd stop seeing MGS4 AAAAE> 360. Not to metion the Lemmins (spelling?) claiming onage around ever corner.
360 fans want the game, so I'd assume they wouldn't care if it had multiple disks. I don't think anyone really cares about multiple disk games.
treedoor
You mean the very same fans that bashed it when itgot GotY and crushed their beloved Gears 2??

yeah........those peopleWhy does MGS4 take up so much BD space anyway? I could see it having no install, and being on one disc.Master-Thief-09all of the high quality audio and voice overs is the main reason i believe, remember its like 10hours worth of cutscenes and and 10+ gamplay

No, I mean all the fans that say "If this game was on the 360 I'd buy it"
Since you don't have a PS3 nor own MGS4, I don't think you've done any research on the game to make a comment about that.SolidTy

Many games fit on DVD because they were designed for DVD.
ME was Designed for the DVD medium, so of course it would fit on it. Bioware knew what they were working with from day 1.
If I am painting a picture I know how big my mat is, I am not going to paint a picture that won't fit on the mat.
Kojima made MGS4 with Blu-Ray in mind, so much in fact that it's a dual layered Blu-Ray, although the Audio is large, to suggest that is the only reason the game is so large isn't accurate.
MGS4 wouldn't fit on one disk imo, even with the sound reduced to 5.1.
If that means not having to install a chapter every damn time.Yeah sure.
I would prefer it then.Lto_thaG
Just because it were ported wouldn't mean that there wouldn't be installs, or some other things. Just because it's on PS3 doesn't mean that the game automatically improves in performance because of a port.

Yeah,I know..That's why I said 'If that means not having to install every chapter' I would prefer it if it was like that.I wouldn't care. Basically, you'd trade act installs for disc swapping, and swapping a disc takes a lot less time than waiting ten minutes for an install.DJ_Lae
act installs take 2 minutes, the initial install is 8 minutes. installs > disc swapping.
MGS4 won't come to 360, kojima is too arrogant to take out that blu-ray scene from the game.

I know its Kojimas work but he doesnt own the rights to it. Arrogant or not. But still I dont think its coming to the 360.. oh well.[QUOTE="SolidTy"]

Yeah,I know..That's why I said 'If that means not having to install every chapter' I would prefer it if it was like that.Oh, gotcha. I just see a lot of assumptions about games here, that I was apart of the whole process, I guess. :)
I assumed that you assumed, lol.

I know its Kojimas work but he doesnt own the rights to it. Arrogant or not. But still I dont think its coming to the 360.. oh well.that's one thing that cows over look all the time. It's like saying that Ninja Gaiden 2 wouldn't come to the PS3 because Igataki was the lead on that project. It all comes down to money and as it's been shown with numerous titles this gen, exclusive rights doesn't always mean forever. FF13, NG2 are really just the start of this whole change in the market as far as heavy hitters go. I could care less about MGS4 seeing how I think the series as a whole is stale, boring and some of the worst written, over rated filth in the industry. I do however recall a press conference with Kojima and a Konami rep from just over a year ago. When asked about MGS4 coming to the 360, the Konami rep gave a sly answer of "we don't have any plans to bring Kojima's work to the 360.......yet". In the end it's not Kojimas choice. If Konami says it will happen, it will. No temper tantrum from Kojima would sway their decision.
I still have a difficult time understanding why cows make such a big deal over "IF" MGS4 went to the 360... it would not fit on one disk....It's not a sandbox game...so what's the big deal?
masiisam
Because cows like to blow their games out of proportion.
[QUOTE="Stevo_the_gamer"]It would fit just fine on one DVD, mate.SolidTy
Whether it came to 360 or not, I don't care, I played and loved it, BUT it wouldn't fit on one DVD....unless you want the game cut into 1/8.
No, it would. Guarenteed. And even if by some crazy miracle you turned out to be right I'd take disc swapping over those annoying installs anyday.

Assuming you wouldn't have to do both. 8)
Jokes...hmmm...
I got one :
I would take playing MGS4 : SoL in 2008 before waiting till 2009 for MGS4 : DWE (The Disk Swap Experience.) ;)

What is faster, the mandatory installation on the PS3 since the disc read speed is too slow or switching a disc? ;)
SolidTy
What is faster?
Waiting for an imaginary PORT, or playing the game back in June 2008? ;)
I played it the day of launch on my PS3 and wasn't very impressed at all. The gameplay was decent, but the story was very convoluted and the cutscenes were needlessly long. As a proud owner of a PS3 it saddens me when my brethren are attempting to bash the 360 by saying that the game will have to be on multiple discs IF it is ported. It makes the rest of us look bad since the majority are not creative enough to come up with a decent counter to most of the attacks.[QUOTE="SolidTy"][QUOTE="_Pinbot_"]

The game is on a DUAL LAYER Blu. Do you know what that is?
One Blu-Ray Layer is 25gigs!
The 360 uses DVD9 (9gigs), HOWEVER, devs can only use about 7gigs since the rest of the disc is used by mandatory protection, etc.
Whether they transform the 7.1 audio to 5.1, and compress the hell out of it, they will still have 20gigs AT LEAST to contend with.
If this EVER happened, it would DEF. be on multiple discs. NOW, if you think that I care about Multiple Discs, I wouldn't. Who cares, but It would be on multiple discs.
The reason no one counters it, is because tomorrow, the SAME DAMN question will be asked again, and again, and again. Too many noobs, it's pointless to argue. It's easier to say, "No, it would be on multiple discs, C-Ya!" instad of arguing for the 1000th time.
Don't you think that MGS4's SIZE was discussed WELL BEFORE MGS4 came out? This arguement is literally from 2005!
Since you are a new poster, I will just assume you didn't know that, have a great morning regardless!
:)
