Lets say that both MS http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1584945/20080404/id_0.jhtml

and Sony http://www.sonywaggle.com/

develop the rumored Wii like Remotes...

Do you think that the Nitendo will be able to fight off the competition or will it be the end of the Wii...

No -- Nintendo is in no trouble whatsoever.
The Wii brand > Xbox360 and PS3 brand as it stands right now. Brand power is key.

No. They need to realise you can't just have motion sensing and go "Luk casuals we is like da Wii as well!!!", you have to market it, lower the price, give it the games that appeal to them, and still please the hardcore crowd and frankly I think all they'd do if they did make them would be p*ss off the hardcore crowd and make the casuals go, urrm no thanks Wii is cheaper and it has all those great games.

This generation, not at all. They already have a good install base. Besides, Nintendo makes good games for their console. It wouldn't be enough to hurt them. Sony and MS could chisel a bit away, but people own the Wii and are finally comfortable with the idea of the controller. It took a lot of people a good adjustment period to just get used to and then fall in love with it. I don't think people would be piling to get used to another motion controller for another company. Also, at this point, people are developing Wii games with the motion controller in mind. These companies could move their products over if they saw profit, but other companies would just tack on crappy controls to Sony and or MS if they had one, similar to the first year of the Wii.r

This all kind of flooded my head, I hope it makes sense.

The Wii might loose some potential customers, but price still has a big affect on sales.

Once the PS3 and 360 are available for 250 dollars and have a lot more casual appealing games, I'll get back with you. ;)

No unless ps3 and 360 match Wii's price with their best units Wii will continue to dominate.

It is too late in the game. Wii is wii. Just because microsoft or sony do what nintendo does, does not make them nintendo.

Wii has them beat on price and also Nintendo has the brands that are more widely known outside of the gaming world. Many people can see Nintendo characters and know what they are getting into, but if you start through Sony or Microsoft stuff around and things get abit more sketchy, plus Nintendo has more games that already do the motion sensing thing great and Sony and Microsoft can't compete with what all Nintendo has out at the moment. Nintendo already has the established market and the Wii was built with motion sensing in mind, Sony and Microsoft are just tacking on a gimmick hoping to get a fraction of the success Nintendo has seen.

I agree with you on this but I don't think MS and Sony are going to let the Wii alone in the market nich they have found...

Not if it only costs them the price to develop a new controller to get into the market..

But as most have posted so far Price for the Wii is still a big factor..

Unless MS and Sony sells TONS of their 'remotes', its hardly going to succeed because the potentional sale of a motion game is limited by the number of remotes sold. This is why N was so smart including a nunchuk with the wii remote: every developer can rely on the fact that their consumer base will have it.

Also, developing for the Wii is cheap. Devleoping for 360 or Sony is far more expensive, so the idea a publisher is going to invest into a new game with a limited audience is slim.

I must be a man from the future but didnt Sony attempt to put 6-axis into there controllers as straight competition against Wii's Waddle? They failed already at putting in Waggle. Microsoft will probaly bring out a gimmick controller but will only work for several games which means they fall flat on there face!

Theyre to far into the generation to clone Nintendo and make a success of it!

Nintendo would not be in trouble. Nintendo would only be in trouble if they started making their games multi platform and that is not going to happen. The price on the Wii is too good to pass on for parents and right now the Wii has the it factor with the young ones and well in general with the general public.

Not unless they drop the price to $250 or less AND if only devs have had wiimote games for PS3/360 in development for the past years secretly.

No one want's a controller that only works for a couple games.

I have a lot of third party games myself:

Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles (Both are million sellers), Need for Speed Carbon, No More Heroes and Lost Winds.

actually thats not a good example. starbucks growth has slowed alot since mcdonalds and other chains, like dunkin doughnuts, jack in the box, started carrying better quality coffee. there was an article awhile back on msnbc.com
