Yeah, Tell that to RATCHET AND CLANK Future, ZELDA:TP, METAL GEAR SOLID 3, and a host of other games that deserve better. Get in line.
Ratchet and Clank was AA, maybe 8.5 the highest, but definetely not AAA.

But the game does have some slight technical flaws...so it flops. I'm a lemming and I ****ing loving this game but I'm not a douche who's going to say it is not a flop.
Even at 8.5, I'll take that flop anyday. Heavenly Sword and Uncharted were both flops too, but I'm still going to get both of those games as well. These so called flops are going to give me hours and hours of enjoyment.
Uncharted was hyped AA bud. Heavenly sword was a flop. Replace Uncharted with Lair which was a nasty flop.
Uncharted got an "A 8.0"bud, so yes it flopped as well.

The game deserved atleast a 9.0 even with the tech flaws and glitches. And i haven't even seen any kind of tech flaw unless you really consider texture popping to be one of them; and i've only run into one glitch where i had to re-load my last save.
I loved everything else, even the combat. Although the Mako was kinda annoying at times.
I'm about 5 hours in and I'm extremely impressed by the quality and production values of this game. all of its technical issues are blown way out of proportion. like people searching to find flaws...because most wouldn't be noticed if someone didn't point it out.Dreams-Visions
I keep hearing that. I don't know if i should just call you a liar or if there's somehow a difference in how certain 360's run this game. I can guarantee you on my 360 the framerate is very unstable, especially in the citadel (stutters everytime you take a corner) and when there's alot of action it nearly halts. The texture popup is the wost I've ever seen on the 360, very noticable when you talk to the councel through the holographic projectors (the white lines on their clothes appear like a second too late. Its noticble in almost every cutscene. I can't understand how some people can say its barely noticable. I normally don't notice flaws pointed out by people (didn't see any in Gears for example) but this game is just filled to the brim with em.

Crackdown is a shooter with RPG elements. Please tell me how this isnt an RPG. You are able to upgrade and enhance your weapons and armor by finding or purchasing better versions or armor and weapon upgrades, which increase as your level up. You are able to choose how you want to handle alot of the situations you are in, and can choose how you speak/interact with people. You level up by gaining xp by defeating enemies, or resolving situations... If that isnt an RPG to you, what is????

The only thing i can say about that is maybe you should clear your cache, because your problems sound alot worse than mine. If you don't know how, look it up because it really helped me with big games like Oblivion and Bioshock. If that doesn't work, idk, maybe your disc is scratched.

sounds like an issue with something on your box, bro. I see the ocassional studder, but neither my brother nor I have stopped to say, "man...that framerate is rough..." It's certainly smoother than KoTOR. Idunno, maybe my expectations were for something with KoTOR's smoothness, and I've thus found myself content with a game that is a bit smoother than that. The very rare pop-in textures are also pretty rare for me.
And really, if your only issue is somewhat irregular framerates, you're not suffering much. You did buy a Bioware RPG, after all.
Maybe if I went in expecting 60fps rock solid I'd be more disappointed.

It's not THAT big of a deal though. Most of my time is spent doing sidequests. The story and dialogue kind of make up for it. I'm hoping the sequal will be better though. There is so much potential as far as combat goes.

On GR, above a 92 isn't anywhere near being a AA.
It would take a lot of very low socres to bring that below 90. 90.0 - 90.4 is "close" to being a AA on GR.
I also agree it's one of the best games I've played in years. It's a AAA book in my opinion, but I recognize my opinion is only worth a damn to myself, it means nothing in the context of this site.
That being said, it is a "flop" here. No big deal, doesn't bother me. That's how this site works, stuff like this is what makes System Wars worth reading. Big games flopping makes it exciting.

Yep.
I get plenty of texture pop here and then, some framerate stutter.... but absolutely not stuttering every time I run around a corner in the Citadel, and definitely not "When there's a lot of action it nearly halts." I haven't had that at all. Those who know BioWare and are familiar with games like KotoR should be right at home with it, and I find it much smoother than KotoR. It really isn't a big distraction on my end, it's fine.

It only takes a 7 from some unknown site to throw a average out of wack, anyway this is pointless to discuss since it doesn'tr eally matter what it gets. It's still one of the best game the Xbox 360 have to offer.

I actually get the same severity of problems that elchoholic gets. Itdetracts a little from the game, but I'm still loving it. The story so far is amazing. Gameplay is great to, but I'm still trying to figure out how to be good at it. I'm not much of an RPG guy and I'm tempted to just run at enemies with gun blazing. I die a lot, by the way.
Mass Effect isn't a 9.5 game. Not even close. In fact, Mass Effect isn't an 8.5 game either. It's probably more like an 8. Great writing, great voice acting, good graphics. Now the bad... broken inventory system, extremely average combat system, fundamentally broken planet exploration (driving the Mako is absolute crap... it's nearly outclassed by Big Rigs), unstable framerate, serious graphical artifacting issues (improper shadows, texture pop-in, etc)... It's worth it to play this for the story. But pretty much all of the *gameplay* elements in Mass Effect are garbage. It's an utter failure as a *game*.ReverieDLM

All I heard was "waaaaaaah it floppedzed!! waaaaaaaah excuses excuses!!"
Should we do what lemmings did to sheep and cows when they defended their games and lemmings laughed at and ridiculed them without remorse? Nah, that would be trolling. Still amusing how "Only GameSpot counts!" doesn't seem to exist anymore after lemmings received their own little disparity. It's only one, however. Imagine if they got crap GameSpot reviews left and right like sheep and cows do! Hexagon_777
I didnt partake in that, however, its a moot point now. You are right, Gamespot reviews DONT matter anymore. That includes the reviews that you question for your console as well. In my eyes, good or bad, all the reviews are tainted, and I will not be trusting the Gamespot reviews anymore.
Weren't there other complaints on the A.I., inventory menu, and the combat controls as well? Not saying it's a bad game since I've never played it yet but reading the critics' reviews, there were some other problems besides the graphical issues.
For me Mass Effect is my clear GOTY, and that's saying something in a year like this.
I still think Gamespot did the right thing in not turning a blind eye on all the technical flaws it has. I am extremely tolerable towards technical problems but for someone that isn't I'm sure they could ruin the whole experience. That said, the game is amazing and much better than I had ever anticipated.
Weren't there other complaints on the A.I., inventory menu, and the combat controls as well? Not saying it's a bad game since I've never played it yet but reading the critics' reviews, there were some other problems besides the graphical issues.

The inventory is annoying, yes, but I was actually positively surprised by the AI and controls. I expected both to be subpar to average, but they work very well.
Well I guess it depends on the person. Technical flaws like texture pop in, pop-up, and unstable frame-rates kill a game for me. I like my games really polished.Zerostatic0gears has all that and yet scored a 9.6. this site is trash when it comes to reviews, thats all there is to it.
[QUOTE="Hexagon_777"]Should we do what lemmings did to sheep and cows when they defended their games and lemmings laughed at and ridiculed them without remorse? Nah, that would be trolling. Still amusing how "Only GameSpot counts!" doesn't seem to exist anymore after lemmings received their own little disparity. It's only one, however. Imagine if they got crap GameSpot reviews left and right like sheep and cows do! JediRiff
I didnt partake in that, however, its a moot point now. You are right, Gamespot reviews DONT matter anymore. That includes the reviews that you question for your console as well. In my eyes, good or bad, all the reviews are tainted, and I will not be trusting the Gamespot reviews anymore.
I didn't keep a list of all the lemmings that kept spouting that crap and now state the same points that sheep and cows did, so yea, I can't go against anyone individually. It's just common knowledge that numerous lemmings did in fact say that and now we have copious lemmings whining about the score. I guess it's good that GameSpot finally flopped a major lemming game as well so that we can all agree on how silly it was to just listen to GameSpot, though. It's great that you guys have finally seen the light.

From what I remember, Gears on the 360 only had 3 second texture popups that only happened during the beginning of a stage.
[QUOTE="ReverieDLM"]Mass Effect isn't a 9.5 game. It's an utter failure as a *game*.Fuzzy_Munch
ROFFFFFFFLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL:o
Are you for real man? Broken Inventory? whats broken? I use it just fine. AVE, combat are you freaking KIDDING ME:roll: This is by far the best REALTIME RPG combat EVER created. Go tell FF developers to take a page from Bioware on this.
