If NX turns out to be noticeably more powerful than PS4 and X1

Look, SONY had the genius Mark Cerny designing their PS4. Cerny has single-handedly outsmarted and humiliated Microsoft's army of engineers. What makes you think Nintendo can do any better except hiring Cerny themselves?

The next console to surpass the PS4 in power will be the PS5. Cerny is just a genius. Just incredible, and SONY is so smart to have hired him to design the PS4.

I guess it would cut into Sony more. Xbox would still have its same people buying Xbox Live and playing the online games. But NX would maybe eat into the Japanese fanbase.

PS4 would not be effected at all it's line up is super strong in 2016 and will be selling no matter what happens. NX will be an alternative for people who want something other than the failing xbox one and wii U.

Essentially it will be a choice of a PS4, NX or PC. So in essence X1 would be effected the most since Nintendo is already putting Wii U down like a lame horse.

These are minor issues. The fact is, the PS4 was so carefully put together that the sum is greater than its parts. It is perfection. It's sleak, more powerful than $2000+ PCs, quiet, and cheap to manufacture. It's just incredible and amazing. Just rubbing my hands over the surface of the console makes me feel great, because I know that it was Mark Cerny who designed this perfect console for me to play on. Cerny is just so smart; he's going to destroy MS next gen.

Then it will become a decision of Nintendo exclusives vs Sony and Microsoft exclusives...since all three consoles will likely get all the same third party...

More power won't change the fact that all those big third party multiplats will be missing on the NX.

It'll definitely be more powerful than the xbone, because Nintendo is going to steal part of Cerny's PS4 design. Nintendo will use 8 GB of GDDR5 RAM. I just know it. Nintendo waited for SONY to show off their superior architecture so Nintendo can reverse-engineer it and steal Cerny's perfect design. It makes my blood boil just thinking about how a bunch of scum too lazy to hire high IQ people just stole Cerny's technology.

Also, Cerny is a million steps ahead of MS and nintendo. The PS4 is just one of his back-up designs. He has 50+ superior architectures for future playstation versions because he knew scum like MS and nintendo would steal his technology. The PS5 is going to destroy the competition next gen. Because MS isn't goning to be the weakest console on the market I think if NX is top dog in power MS looks to release something better a year after NX drops.

This ultimately puts Sony in a position of weakest console on the market and they will be forced to upgrade sooner than they want. When they will really just want to ride out this PS4 hype train. So Sony would have to drop something a year after MS drops something that rivals NX, thus fucking up the next generation of consoles entirely.

Not to be rude, but Mark Cerny just hired AMD... AMD created the Chip, not Mark Cerny. He pitched what they wanted and AMD came up with a design within the pricerage Sony wanted.

MS was more worried about kinect, wanted the APU design as well and were ok sacrificing other aspects so the kinect would work.

And really sorry to burst your fanboy bubble, but if Sony wanted actual power, they would have went Intel and Nvidia, not the cheapo poor person AMD. Sony did manage to get the most powerful console, but it's nothing more than a midgrade AMD gpu and low grade AMD CPU. I do know Nvidia screwed Microsoft with the original Xbox, but at the same time, if you want a console with pure power, Intel and Nvidia is where it's at and more than 600 bucks.

Keep in mind, cost vs performance. AMD is cost conscience and can't compete on a high end level. Intel and Nvidia beat AMD on benchmarks but also cost a prettier penny more. I like my PS4, but my PC destroys it. It cost more though too.

AMD only supplied the CPU and GPU. Cerny designed the SoC.

The GDDR5 was because of Cerny, not AMD. The eSRAM was entirely MS's decision, which is why they had 1,000+ engineers and dumped $3 billion in R&D trying to optimize eSRAM usage.

EDIT: Keep in mind I do like my PS4 as well. I like Uncharted, Bloodborne, I'm liking Digimon Cyber Slueth. I have always loved Playstation. I also like Xbox and have a softspot for Nintendo. I just also know, my PC performs better. The consoles are weak machines. Third party games will be purchased for my PC. But I don't like ignorant fanboys.

I don't think it will outdo it in terms of raw power, it will in hardware in the creative sense, a device that will bridge the console and handheld experience in one.

Personally think the Xbox would suffer more- the market has shown that it can only support three ecosystems, and of the three right now, the Xbox is already on thin ice and looser ground, so the NX cutting into that and replacing it doesn't sound like much of a stretch,

It all depends if Nintendo can attract 3 party dev.

Else, it would still be stuck in that "secondary console", just for exclusives.

Won't affect either one. PS4 is too popular to stop and X1 is too dead to revive. There is still a market for NX to succeed though if Nintendo makes a console consumers want.

PS4 & X1 are basically the same machines in terms of power, NX should Destory both by a large margin

Noticeably is about 50% better, so you can count on that at least (Wii and Wii U being 50% better than the older consoles), and 16GB of memory. Games like Final Fantasy 15, just hypothetically if it comes to NX would be 1080p rather than 900 and 720p on the Ps4 and Xbox one, and resolution gets more buzz than anything so people would know about it.

If it's more powerful than that, that's great, it could be future proofed against the Ps5 but it really just depends on how many developers make games for it. That's the big question isn't it? How much support it'll get and what kind. "AAA" games or just shared handheld games, or both. It's safe to say the Xbox will get hurt more by it since the NX will at least double its performance and it has less exclusives and less units out than the Ps4.

Not many are going to throw their Xbox or PS4 away if it doesn't get these big games, but Nintendo can still carve out a much bigger niche than what it did with Wii U.

Maybe if NX comes out this year. 2017 will be too late to effect xboxone, ps4. They will each have a big install base for the major 3rd party games. They will be cheaper, probably slim versions. Nintendo games will sale but 3rd party games wont sale well on NX like the wii. Most Ubisoft games will be parity anyways to avoid debates. TC you will probably make a thread asking the same question for PS5 and the Next Xbox. Sadlry the answer will be yes.

Did you look at Uncharted 4? That game is so good. 1080p at locked 30 FPS. Insane graphics and dynamic world.

There's no PC that can match that kind of power. The PS4 was held back by biased developers who were rooting for the Xbone and gimped PS4 version.

I have little to no faith in Nintendo as a hardware developer that caters to gamers... They have been chasing the mainstream audience for the past 10 years and I don't see them doing anything different this time around.

The market follows Sony's lead. It's not going to matter just like the 3 previous gens.

Here's the NX's problem. It will likely be more powerful than the PS4 but not enough to put it light years ahead to be worth buying for most people nor when the next batch of consoles gets released by MS/Sony in the next 2-3 years that it doesn't get absolutely smoked and becomes obsolete just like the WiiU.

I dont think the NX will be as powerful because they are going to want to make it cheap and if there is a the hybrid aspect it will downgrade the quality. So no use really thinking about it until there are more details

Nintendo would have to pay more to have an SoC weaker than the PS4's, which is, I want to remind you, a mid range 2012 PC.

Also, we don't know if the NX is a hybrid yet, and Nintendo have categorically said that it is not.

I doubt either the PS4 or Xbox One would suffer much in sales. Both of those have an established fanbase and library of games. The NX will have neither.

At this point the PS4 and Xbox One sell themselves. Friends buy the consoles to play games with other friends. People looking into game consoles see a much larger library on the PS4/Xbox One and will pick one of those.

The general consumer doesn't care about how powerful a console is. People like to talk about that, but when it comes down to it, size of the library and the ability to play the hyped/advertised games is all that matters.

Last gen was a very easy second for the Wii and the Xbox 360 had higher sales than PS3 when the new consoles launched. So that puts Sony's PS3 in fourth.

Of course none of them ever come close to PC.
