I'm sure the PC dominates everywhere actually. I can't imagine many homes in a developed country lacking a PC of some kind.
easter europe's my favourite part of europe.
pc's are cheaper than consoles. but a decent pc that's capable of playing the most recent games with the highest settings cost about the same as a console. infact, if you were to go to your local best buy, game stop, pc world, or wherever you would probably get a gaming quality pc for much more than a console. the only way to get a gaming pc on the cheap is to source the components and build it
becasue they are playing free mmos and or counterstrike 1.6 still, i mea come on Korea main eSport is Starcraft, now PC gamers are saying "oh PC gmaing is for poor people" yeah tell taht to Nvidia and their 600+ video card release. im sorry but for a nice card that will run crysis 2 it will cost you 250-360 dollars, provided thats all you nedd. anyway back to writing term paper.tehHasteSo I need a $600 GPU to run games at UBER console details? 600p 30fps 0AA?
i always find it funny how PC gaming is so expensive yet nobody ever mentions having to buy a $2000 hdtv so you get can HD resolutions out of your HD consoles
why do people always gloss over the cost of the tv? sure you use it for other things than gaming, guess what you use PC's for a lot more than gaming as well, and even then you still won't reach the astronomical costs of being a member of the HDTV gaming club

Piracy. From what i saw overseas in Thailand, there were practially no legitimate sales of pc games anywhere. From every street corner vender to every high end mall, i saw nothing but racks full of copied, pirated software. The same went for Wii and Xbox360 also. But the preference was definately pc.

cant get something good with $600 unless you use pirated software. win7 is $150....and that leaves you $450 for hardware.

right... or you could get a 32 in hd tv for under 400 dollars easily.. or a very nice sony 1080p 52 inch for like 1500... also people like having big nice tv's for other things like movies and tv.. ya know.. sports, its not only for gaming, i'm not saying a monitor is either, but a nice monitor isn't cheap either when you consider how easy it is to get a bigger hd tv for not much more.i always find it funny how PC gaming is so expensive yet nobody ever mentions having to buy a $2000 hdtv so you get can HD resolutions out of your HD consoles

Ok, i got my 32 in hd tv for 480, and I could get the same tv now for about 350. HD games or tv programming looks amazing on my tv, even at 32 in 720 or 1080 doesn't matter.Because PC software is cheaper, can be pirated easier and most of all....PC is a necesity in every decent home, even in poor countries, while consoles are just luxury items: expensive toys that are simply a waste of money for everyone besides the wealthy people....why consoles dominate the rich countries (Japan, UK, USA etc) while PC dominates the poor (Easter Europe, China)? No, actually, resolution is the fourth most important factor for image quality according to the Image Science Foundation. Before it come contrast ratio, color accuracy and color saturation. I think they know a bit more than you on the topic.

I was referring to viewing distance versus screen size and resolution. Nice try though, continue patting yourself on the back.

No, you said: "I'm willing to bet the picture I get is much better than yours."
I say - to prove that you must also show that your monitor has better contrast ratio, color saturation and color accuracy.
I wouldn't say they're poor. Some are, sure....why consoles dominate the rich countries (Japan, UK, USA etc) while PC dominates the poor (Easter Europe, China)? Just wondering....

Germany for e.g. loves PC, and are not at all "poor".

In both cases there's nothing wrong with my statement anyways. If he thinks his television has better specs he's welcome to post them.
[QUOTE="stiggy321"]UHhh... China is not a poor country. I think you're referring to South Korea. The average uh... person... doesn't buy an 800 dollar computer just for games... let alone a 2,600 dollar one. They buy a 600 dollar computer for windows movie maker from best buy, and a Wii for their kids.RavensmashI don't think either of them are poor to be fair. I think the main argument against the TC is simple....marketing. A PC is commonplace in the majority of the world, but the consoles are only sold/marketed in certain regions. I don't believe XBL even exists in a lot of countries....so the incentive would obviously be PC.
South Korea is not poor. It is a first world country. Comparable to Japan.
China is not a poor country, and in fact has the world's 3rd largest economy. But the disparity between rich and poor is much larger than you would find in a country like South Korea or the USA.
The market for consoles and/or PC's in other countries is always going to be different, and prices vary considerably, even between EU markets. eg, games in the UK generally RRP at around £40-£50, whereas in Portugal they RRP at €70-€80, which is considerably higher than in the UK when you convert the currencies. Also, in the UK the prices for games fall relatively quickly compared to Portugal, where prices remain high, and the used games market is also small.

If your naked eye can't tell the difference then I suggest you visit your optometrist.

Yes, resolution is the the fourth most important factor, but 720p makes the image look like garbage. Unless you sit so far from the Tv that's it not immersive anymore and completely defeats the purpose of having a big TV.yea i will go with thisI'm sure the PC dominates everywhere actually. Not all "rich" nations are dominated by consoles. Rich nations like Germany (and I'm sure others) are without doubt dominated by PC gaming. As in Asia (hello S Korea!)...why consoles dominate the rich countries (Japan, UK, USA etc) while PC dominates the poor (Easter Europe, China)? Just wondering....

As others have mentioned, you don't need a $2000 hdtv to get HD resolutions, or even to see the increase in detail that you get from HD resolutions. Heck, on my 15-inch widescreen laptop, I can easily tell the difference between a PC game running at a 480p-equivalent resolution and a PC game running at a 720p-equivalent resolution. What makes you think that console games are any different? As long as the distance your eyes are from the screen is proportional to the screen size, you get a significant boost in detail and clarity from HD resolutions. I play my PS3 games on a 22-inch PC monitor, using a HDMI-to-DVI adapter. Hardly a $2000 investment.i always find it funny how PC gaming is so expensive yet nobody ever mentions having to buy a $2000 hdtv so you get can HD resolutions out of your HD consoles
