If Resistance 2 gets a 8/10 here will it be called a flop?

Nah, the original game was AA. Plenty of people will claim ownage, but you can't really call an AA sequel to an AA game a flop. It would just mean it failed to exceed the original and compete with GeoW 2 (a presumed AAA title), which is the type of game PS3 fanboys are obviously hoping for.

idk but cows keep putting up against gears 2 which is hyped AAA...

but i think we should bring back official hype threads so its much easier to determine flops

When it comes to Resistance, I don't trust GS. They severly underated the first one and I have no doubt they will underrate the next. efrucht

gamespot gave it a 8.6 and the average on gamerankings is an 86 so they were dead on with their review...

No, the Hype for it is AA, so it will be fine (I think, if not, there needs to be an official thread for that and GeoW2).

There are always fanboys that OVERHYPE, and UNDERHYPE, and FAKEBOYS that overhype, but at the end of the day, we use that thread as a reference.

Considering that would be lower than the first and most likely lower than gears 2, oh hell yes. Well, at least to me.

It should be. Cows are hyping this one like it's crazy awesome. I think it could get a 7.5 even. Then again, i might be a tad biased. I think Resistance 1 was a 7.5 (and gears 1 a 8.5)

To be honest, I thought Resistance was mediocre. A rental really. I thought Gears 2 was above average. A buy perhaps, but not a must have.

It's definitely AAA. I've seen it hyped to the holy heavens by most PS3 owners here. Also, even I hype it AAA. It's bigger and better than the original, and the original almost scored AAA. I don't know who wouldn't hype it as AAA, to be quite frank. Those people are really playing it safe, which I find simply hilarious.

I don't know, I'm looking forward to GeoW2 more. I recently found I was getting that Gun/Game Combo. I liked Resistance, but I thought that was AA too. Fun game, but not really pushing the envelope too far.

I always thought the comparison's from Resistance to GeoW was because they always seem to be coming out at the same time against each other (2006, now 2008.)

8 player Co-op sounds pretty radical though....4 player Co-op would have been great.

Resistance 2 who? Anyway, it's going against Gears of War 2 this holiday. So yes the score will be closely watched and magnified. If it scores anything less than Gears of War 2 then it could be considered a flop. Also why is it so easy to hype games like Gears of War 2 AAA but when it comes to PS3 games like Resistance 2 it's hard to hype AAA? Beats me. *shrugs* And it looks like people, mostly cows, forgot about the threads about Resistance 2 will be better than Gears of War 2 because Gears will only have 10 players while Resistance 2 will have 64 players or whatever. :roll:

A flop is not determined by the review of the original game. If Gears 2 scores 9.0 that doesn't mean it's a flop just because Gears 1 score 9.6.

No matter what any hype thread says, I'll still consider it a flop at AA, and so will the majority of others that have seen the hype for it. In that case, the same can be said for many PS3 and 360 games that have been delibrately hyped lower in hype threads to prevent a flop. Either way there are still rules in SW.

We need a hype thread. What you and I may think about the hype does not matter until there is one ya know :).

I agree that cows should hype R2 AAA. If not then... sad.
