Poll If Scorpio fails, is Xbox done this gen? (109 votes)
What say you system wars? If Scorpio is too much money, or isn't that impactful, do you think microsoft will start falling apart at the seams?

Scorpio isn't the true successor to the XB1, so it failing really doesn't matter long term. Now if this was their next-gen console it failing would definitely hurt the Xbox division to the point that they might end up pulling out.
They're currently getting murdered. This is supposed to get them back on the map.

They are losing the console war, but they are still ahead of 360 sales during the same time frame, so its not all doom and gloom. XB1 will probably sell around 40 - 50 million LTD which isn't horrible.

I like my xbox one S. I just want more exclusives damnit. The xbox one elite controller is the best controller this gen as well. I hope they have a good showing at e3 this year.
The company as a whole will be fine if the Scorpio fails. However, if it does indeed fail, then I think there is a pretty good chance that MS pulls out of the console business altogether. They were never in it for actual gamers in the first place. Bill Gates could care less.

Bill Gates isn't really involved heavily in Microsoft anymore.

Except for the fact that he.....founded it, and owns a huge chunk of it. But yeah, I know what you mean.

He's more into his charity organization with his wife. He hasn't been involved in Microsofts dealings since the early 2000's.

Yeah. The PTB has him poisoning human blood. That is his role, and has been for some time.
@reduc_ab_: Can you name me one that is in it for us gamers?
As far as CEOs and the like goes, no, I can't. These individuals do not have your best interests, or mine, in mind. Be it MS, Sony, Apple, Google, etc. etc. You are but flesh and meat to them, fully expendable.
@n64dd:
XBO's estimated sales are pacing slightly ahead of Xbox 360 i.e. very little improvement with Nintendo's dropping the ball.
PS4 is selling like PS2 or Wii i.e. PS4 has displaced Wii.
The loser was Nintendo's desktop gaming machine i.e. Wii.
You people have been claiming Xbox done since Bloodborne released.
Yet it still pleases millions of people. Maybe, just maybe your babybackballbagbullshit definitions of what people like are full of crap? Play your games on what you like. Xbox will do what it does whether you like it or not.

Why are you so mad?

According to SW, the Xbox brand, Nintendo, and PC gaming have all been in a state of perpetual doom for years now. Xbox has been doomed since its inception which is pretty impressive.
But yeah, according to all predictions, Playstation should be the only gaming brand left. Except for during the PS3 era when the PS3 was supposed to be the Dreamcast 2.0.
Hmm. So I guess that means gaming shouldn't exist at all according to all the Pachter Jr's.
They sold enough xbox one's to survive, the scorpio is built for premium users, ie people who would buy a pc but are super loyal to microsoft as to not just buy a pc.
The slim is planned to sell more than the scorpio.
So no, it won't matter, it's just not going to change anything.
@ConanTheStoner: You're like the only person around here that consistently makes me laugh. That Data pic was pure genius.
Scorpio will be a flop and MS will carry on. It's meant to appeal to an extremely niche market anyway. People that want power but don't wanna invest in a PC and somehow feel that mediocre Xbox exclusives are worth buying another Xbone for. They'll just go back to the drawing board and try and get their true nextgen console right after Flopio inevitably flops.
Xbox has not even cracked the 30m unit sold, while sony is sitting over 60m. Phil needs to sell the bone to disney while it still worth something.
Cortana as a Disney princess?

We don't know

I don't believe Sony one bit, if they had twice as many console out there then you would be seeing way more games being purchased.

They're not known as.. Phony, the one and only for nuttin ya know? :P

Sales of hardware is not a good way to judge success. I think gaming revenue is better.
Even this Quarter results we saw Microsoft make 2 billion. And Sony 3 billion.
Think about that when Sony has 27+ million extra users!

Sales for them are higher. They dominating sales in Europe, Middle east, Japan. They are ahead in the UK and United States. I would not rule out they added PS3+ PS4 sales together this gen though and used shipped numbers as sold through?
High 40 to 50+ million sold through is probably correct?
Na man, they won't quit. According to Phil: (and I quote) "I call it a premium console because I want people to be clear that the customer we're building that for is the premium gaming customer."
So already they aren't expecting to move as many units as what a brand new console generation would sell you. Scorpio is just to get a little more revenue and longevity for the Xbox One platform all together. It's a lot like the PS4 Pro, it's sort of a niche product. I'm sure MSFT is busy designing a new next-gen console right now, and probably will likely include some technology from Scorpio.
Edit: Keep in mind Scorpio is for those who don't want to touch PC gaming and this is a low-end pre-build PC to console gamers.
Xbox Scorpio failure is like a Super Smash Bros character who got flung off the map and everybody stops breathing for a moment to see whether he's knocked out, but the camera pans out real far and you still see the character trying to use his double jump to somehow stay in but it looks kinda pathetic like it's probably not going to happen.
I could see MS dropping out of the dedicated home console market like Nintendo did after the failure of the Wii U. But the Xbone is selling much better than the Wii U, so I don't see Scorpio failing that bad.
@jaymikells wait since when did Nintendo drop out lol the Nintendo switch is thier console. There for you can fix your post and doesn't Microsoft have alot of money:
@mariokart64fan: I said Nintendo dropped out of the DEDICATED HOME CONSOLE MARKET, which is true. Switch is a hybrid portable/console. Brush up on your comprehension skills.
