And that's terrible.[QUOTE="PannicAtack"][QUOTE="Zlychop"] I don't think the summer sale is happening this year.lostrib
I heard it was the 12th
It better happen. I hope there's an Eidos sale, I've been bugging my friends to play "Thief." Got the first two games recently and maaan are they incredible. And that's terrible.[QUOTE="PannicAtack"][QUOTE="Zlychop"] I don't think the summer sale is happening this year.lostrib

I say it's on August, cause a lot of people like to troll with the notion "It's still summer till September" Logic.
When I grew up, when August came around, I knew that's when I have to go back to school and I associated August with Fall.
But at this rate, Steam Summer Sale looks like it's going to be a "Back to School" sale. (won't effect me cause I don't go to School anymore, but I know a lot of people would be mad if this happens.)
Oh well let's take advantage of Amazon's Sales while we wait.

no
i will not believe that somebody thought Dead Island was GOOD
Crazyguy105
Two things
-Dead Island was good, most people thought that
- Valve didn't make Dead Island, so..lul..wut?
If Steam didn't exist, then I would think a little less of Valve, but not by much.
Part of the reason I love them is that they create amazing games, and then sell them for dirt cheap. Without Steam it would simply be just the first thing.
left 4 dead is meh. should be a arcade
portal while entertaining was very meh
half life was again fun but meh
wouldnt play them again
[QUOTE="ShadowDeathX"]Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh...... Dead Island was a borefest with that lame story and that 60 degree disgusting field of view. Go play Left 4 Dead 2 with good people and tell me that is boring? IT ISN'T!ZlychopLeft 4 Dead is infact boring. The tone isn't serious, its just lets kill zombies! A zombie game should be as it is portrayed in better games than L4D and movies, survival horror. Dawn of The Dead or 28 weeks later type of stuff, Dead Island portrayed that much better.
Having played L4D & L4D2 for over 400 hours combined with friends. I'd have to disagree with that, it is a lot of fun. However as a single player game, I would agree it is limited by the scope of the story/characters. As a COOP or Versus game is how it shines though. It is a lot of fun.
Not a valid argument. The tone is one of generally cheesy camp, and it is fairly consistent in that regard. Not having a "serious tone" is not really a valid argument unless we're dealing with a genuinely serious subject matter and the work's treatment is one that is flagrantly disrespectful.[QUOTE="Zlychop"]The tone isn't serious, its just lets kill zombies!PannicAtack
However, we are not talking about genuinely serious subject matter, we're talking about friggin zombies.
exactly this...L4D tries to have the feeling of a B-grade zombie flick...and it pulls it off great. itd be different if they tried to say L4D was a realistic survival horror game that happened to involve zombies...then id be upset about the tone...but for it trying to be a game that feels like a movie...heck even all the level loading screens are movie posters...they pulled off the feel excellently...TC has no clue what he's talking about...
counter strike is widely considered one of the best mp games around...and what do people want...an updated version with better graphics...what are they getting...an updated version with better graphics
TC says halo is better than HL2...i question his credibility here...but everyone is entitiled to their opinions no matter how off base they are...but HL2 was/is amazing(every tried the cinematic mod...its amazing)...no it does shove story down your throat like halo does, its more subtle, you have to explore a bit and take your time and enjoy the experience. and even today it can stand up with its head held high when it comes to graphics...sure it doesnt look like crysis 2 or bf3...but its still a really good looking game. not to mention everything it brought with it...source, steam, and all the tools one could ever want to make as many mods as they can
5. LEFT 4 DEAD = BULLCRAP (but more money for valve)
4. PORTAL = OK
3. TEAM FORTRESS 2 = MOST FUN GAME
2. COUNTERSTRIKE = BEST ONLINE SHOOTER (+mods.. zombie escape mods like lord of the ring maps = epic...pure epic)
1. HALF LIFE 1/2 = BEST PC GAMES, MANY GOTY AWARDS and INDUSTRY CHANGERS.
Where the heck is HALF LIFE 3?
Unreal 4 engine, Crytek and Final Fantasy engine, heck even FOX engine are ahead of VALVE from we've seen.

Also, the HL series is pretty overrated and there are plenty of games on other platforms that are way better than it.
Halo being one of them.

Some of your points were actually debatable, making at least a little sense, before I read the sentences above...
Then,the lolz came
I'd say most halo games are more fun than HL2. HL2 isn't really a good game, it has crappy ai, bad guns, boring vehicle sections, it's just not that great.[QUOTE="Rocker6"]

You go to school in august? what? Our kids break up on JULY 21st ish ... and go back in september, August would be the perfect time for the UK.I agree with some of what the TC says..... but L4D a bad game..... HELLS TO THE NO!
Best Co-op game ever made imho.

Valve is overrated, so is Blizzard.
Producing 1 good game every few years isn't really impressive.
Naughty Dog and Retro are better.

Yes I rather have consistent trash every year ( not talking about Naughty dog)
If steam didn't exist Valve would be in very big trouble and PC gaming would not be in the place it is today.
Steam has nothing to do with how I feel about Valve.AmazonTreeBoa
If Steam didn't exist there would be someone else even WORSE doing the same thing.
Devs want to get rich and they will do anything to achieve that, including invasive DRM, DLC, always-on, cloud gaming and whatever else.
PC gaming had a good run for 2 decades, I was lucky enough to be part of that.
Steam is like a gravestone "PC gaming 1978-2001 we will miss you" while its bastard children Valve, Blizzard, EA, Ubisoft, Activision etc fight over the family fortunes and take turns raping the dead king's subjects.

Isn't that pretty much what Blizzard does right now with WoW and Diablo 3 (I guess it's every decade with this franchise).

The funny thing is that when Steam first came out it was a horrible program, and a lot of people did not like valve for creating it and requiring it for HL2 and CS:S

1. Your bemoaning is completely nonsensical. Steam is one of the best things that ever happened to PC gaming. If Steam didn't exist there would be someone else even WORSE doing the same thing.

Why exactly?
Taking games out of brick-and-mortar stores means the general public doesn't see them.
What do they see.
Xbox. Playstation. Wii.
That's what soccer moms see.
Ask 1000 people "have you heard of Tribes?" But they sure heard of Halo, they see it at Walmart.

I think SC is a pretty good game. Diablo is a fun game for the first hours, and then it's a task... not my cup of tea. Never played WoW.

Are PC games disappearing from store shelves due to the advent of digital distribution? I can still easily find plenty of them at a store. They're still there as much as they ever were, and even if they weren't I don't see why I should care.Steam has instead provided an immense boon to independent developers, provided access to a huge backlog of games going back to the 1990s including Thief, Doom, Quake, Deus Ex, and Fallout, sales which mean I can get tons of games for the price of one, and the ability to access my games at any computer with an internet connection.
In my mind the trade-off leaves absolutely no question.
