if the PS3 has the weaker GPU and less RAM, how can it produce such graphics??

every game has it's highs and lows in terms of screenshots.. however, it doesn't seem mass effect's highs doable on ps3 hardware.

c'mon, look up the thread a bit. Some guy (who has his sarcasm detector broken) posted great pictures of Ps3 games. Tell me if they don't look good.

You're right, I misread this. But about the others I am, so 3-1 to me. Who wasn't very well informed again?

edit: maxconsole? PlayTM? I think I'd believe Eurogamer over them any day.

NielsNL

Uh, no, no your not. and I never mentioned DiRT or Bonic Commando.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with PSU, Terminal Reality Executive Producer Brendan Goss explains why the PlayStation 3 was chosen as the lead development platform for Ghostbusters: The Videogame and believes that the final result on Sony's console should be "amazing." PSU

As far as the Maxconsole and PlayTm are concerned, by all means please find a source where it contradicts those sites....

So, that's actually 1-3, and why in the world would you even contradict me when you don't know what you're talking about?

The way I see it...
Most multi platform games that do not have the PS3 as a lead platform are just rushed to all consoles and PC.
Developers try to minimize costs and to do so keep the code as generic as possible across all platforms.

Basically coding to fully utilize the PS3 is allot harder and therefore more costing.
Most developers will try to keep costs down and profits up, probably because of publishers pressure.

Even multi platform games listed as having PS3 as a lead platform don't really deviate from this. Ghost Busters is a prime example.

I think many people can agree that the 360s multi platform games look slightly better, mainly because of this reason.
Exclusives are a different story.

daveg1

Burnout, Deadspace, Darksector and Ghostbusters all had the PS3 as their lead, withthe exception of Deadspace (which is the only mutiplat I know released at the same time that looks better on the PS3) every other game has a 360 advantage or they look exactly the same. Why if the PS3 is more powerful than the 360 why arnt lead platform PS3 mutiplats exceptionally better?

lol dead space on the ps3 looked better?????

Why, yes...yes it did.

You and caribo2222 have just proved to everyone in this thread that you've no only never play Mass Effect but also didn't even bother reading up on it...

I don't compare everything to GeOW 2 because GeOW 2 is a 3rd person shooter.>Irick_cb
How does a game being in third person even become a reason to question its graphics?

I'm finishing up Gears 2 right now and I've never seen so much texture pop up in my life. Where does this 360 does textures so well rumor come from? Texture pop-up, pop-up in general is a huge problem for the 360.

That's the Unreal Engine not the 360. Every game with that engine has texture popups including The Last Remnet for PC.

With a 100+ man development team, a huge budget, and support from Sony, it really isn't suprising that KZ2 looks so good.

developing for next-gen hardware is supposed to be hard.

devs say that it's easy to develop on x360, but they sure did expose something about x360 from that comment and its not good.

And additionally: Development time. Microsoft have been at work with the X-Engine which is supposedly going to help 1st party developers push the 360. Here's hoping.

I should rephrase it, MS doesnt have many 1st party dev teams.

Oh, I see. And yes, I agree.

They've been cutting back on their 1st party division a lot as of late: Bizarre Creations, Bungie, FASA, Ensemble, Digital Anvil. The lack of technical prowess (Forza 3 being a recent turn of events) in the games - in comparison to what Sony has to offer - from the studios that remain in Microsoft's 1st party collective may very well be evidence of the division not being much of a priority when it comes to funding and support. With 3rd party developers proving to be more auspicious from an economical standpoint.

when the only developers producing such graphics are the 1st party developers and 2nd party then you've gotta look at the console developer them selves.
In this regard we have sony infusing millions upon millions into said companies, sending the latest R&D into said studios and even hireing their own programmings to help with programming at said studios.

*shakes head* its pretty obvious.

Take it easy man.. i really just want to point out, to fans of both consoles (without fighting), what i believe the console that has the game with the best graphics so far.

Here is what I believe (in terms of graphics):

Mass Effect 1 > PS3 exclusive games

GT5: P > Forza 3

However, in terms of hardware, I haven't seen anything from the PS3 that indicates a more powerful machine..

if devs lead with x360 then port to ps3.. the ps3 soffocates and ends up with half the framerate and/or resolution & textures.

if devs lead with ps3 then port to x360, the x360 handles the ports with ease (as if it was natively written for it) and ends up looking the same or even sometimes better on X360 (like DMC4, Ghostbusters, etc..)..

this also logically indicates that the ps3 is the lowest common denominator. cause how else would you explain why x360 can handle ps3 ports with ease?

just consider the above without prejudice and you'll hopefully understand my point, and why i'm finding it hard to believe the ps3 has more powerful hardware.
