2019 release makes the most sense to me based based on technology progression , competition , the assumed need for industry hardware/software buying re-enthusiasm from consumers at that time , and Sony's own development studios and the way they have things layed out. AAA development takes time and I don't see another round of games from their major studios this gen . The Last of Us Part II , maybe another big partner game , and Death Stranding will close out the gen just fine. Some might even end up as cross-gen games.
I won't even attempt a guess at the specs though , but it will be a monster compared to OG PS4 (lol). Sony going above $399 wouldn't surprise me at all , although with the incredible yearly income from PS+ , they might be willing to eat a good loss on hardware initially. Only time will tell.
Guerrilla Games should be the 1st major studio to tackle the beast with an exclusive - HZD 2. The shackles will be off. Goodbye PS4. They are likely already in pre-production and will be working with the PS5 hardware / software tools desingers every step of the way. Polyphony , Santa Monica , Bend , Sucker Punch , and the Naughty Gods will follow. It's a little strange that some of these companies will only have 1 PS4 game for the gen like Santa Monica and Bend ... but maybe next gen they'll be able to hit with 2 !
Japan Studio is a wildcard. I could see them making a couple more PS4 games while also trying to make a PS5 game to release the 1st year of PS5.
Media Molecule's future seems uncertain. They could get canned after Dreams , or perhaps Sony could let them just make a more traditional single player 2D or 3D platformer for PS5 without the lofty ambitions of another play , create , share title. Only time will tell.
