Then why are there never any advertisements during men's programming? Never saw a Wii ad on ESPN or Spike TV. Haven't seen a Wii ad during the NBA or NHL Playoffs. But I have seen plenty of Wii ads watching Disney channel and Nickelodeon with my daughter, and while watching Deion Sanders' show on Oxygen with the wife(best show on TV btw). Nintendo is marketing primarily to women and children and that is a FACT. Why do sheep deny this when the proof is in the pudding? Ever seen a No More Heroes or RE4 Wii commercial? Didn't think so. That's not what they want people to see. They want you to see the retirement home playing WiiSports, and the soccer mom playing WiiFit, but won't advertise the few REAL games that the system does have. I guess Ninteendo just assumes that their rabid fanboys will already know when the new Mario/Metroid/Zelda game is coming out and can throw minimal resources into advertising those games. It's sad, but you sheep will still worship the ground they walk on no matter what. The bottom line is that the Wii is not made for the 18-34 male demographic, it's for everyone else. Wake up sheepies.

I am a grown man and I have never watched Spike TV expect for Star Trek. Which I don't think they no longer show. I also don't watch ESPN. But I see adds on the Sci-Fi channel and during the Saturday Animes on Cartoon Network.

Don't know when I watch Adult Swim I cut off the Tivo after it over. So I never watch the Adds. Heck most of the time I am fast forwarding though adds anyways so it amazing I even noticed the Wii adds I have.

Just know I saw some when watching Doctor Who and Bleach.

I watch plenty of Saturday morning cartoons with my four year old and there are just as many PS3 and Xbox commercials.

If your referring to the constant GTA IV commercials during the NBA playoffs(Celtics blow hard BTW), that's aimed for morons because they don't even show any gameplay.

I am a fairly new Wii owner and a grown man but I am enjoying it though you have a good point.

Better point IMO is, ( this is rhetorical - I'll let you figure out why :) ) why is Nintendo spending millions on marketing and advertising when the target of the marketing and advertising is unable to easily find the product being advertised.

Hint: if Nintendo after almost two years on the market with the Wii can't seem to find money to lease buildings and hire workers to put out this phenom selling product - why spend the $$$$ on all the marketing ?

Things that make ya go hmmmmmmm. ;)

I hope you are aware that it is getting difficult for TV advertisers to target young males because increasingly they are going to the Internet for entertainment instead of television. This may explain why ads are appearing in video games.

Also, one needs to remember that other than ads, there is also word of mouth which is as effect in promoting the Wii to this young demographic.

I see it during adult swim all the time. Also see it on Comedy Central. Plus this arguement is not very well thought of...

I live in the UK and I have seen many an advert on so called "Male Programming", there have also been quite a few NMH and RE4 ads on both mainstream and satellite television. The Wii is designed for everyone, not everyone except males in between 18-34, the release and marketing of maturer games is down to the developers not the console manufacturer, if they decide to advertise their products during certain shows then that is probably the target-market(s) that they are recieving the least positive feedback from, or the target-market(s) that require adverts to influence the purchasing decisions most.

I've seen lots of RE4 ads and Umbrella Chronicles ads I just never seen a No More Heroes ad because Ubisoft is horrible at advertising Wii games except for crappy minigame collections.

I see just as many Wii ads as I do PS3 ads and 360 ads. I can't tell you if those ads are during "men's programming" since I don't watch my television with that in mind, and even if I did, it probably wouldn't match what is termed typical for my demographic. That being said, maybe the reason the Wii advertising doesn't appear to target this demographic, is because the publishers feel they are already informed through other sources. This is after all, the demographic that is most likely to go to stores like Gamestop and Best Buy, watch shows like XPlay, and visit sites like this.

Discovery Channel and National Geographic are the only TV channels I watch. I see alot of commercials for the Wii... too many actually. They've been showing the same commercials for almost a month now.

Ninendo obviously tries to market the Wii for adults, there is no doubt about it. However, I have yet to see anyone I know buy one. The system doesn't appeal to adults.

Most adults don't even play games, and if they do, they play Civilization, Age of Empires, Total Rome, EvE Online. Thats the sort of games that appeal to adult gamers.

While the 360 and PS3 appeal more to students and/or teenagers.

The Wii can cater to many ages -- its 'sad' people fail to realize this.

No it means that consumers won't blindly let the commercials persuade them. Its not the commercials that determine wheter the product is catered to adults, but its the selection of games availlable. Currently pretty much all consoles are marketed mostly towards teenagers and the student demographic. The Wii, wich is a more family friendly product, is also bought by kids and parents who behave childishly aka soccer moms.

There isn't a single console currently that specializes on one very specific target audience. Absolutely none. All 3 products try to attract to different publics.

If you're going to decide your purchase based on commercials, you will be misleaded.

So all men watch sports? I find watching sports on TV to be rather boring. I guess I can't be man because I own a Wii and don't watch ESPN. Last time I checked the Wii was for everyone.

Adults do not play games, period. The same way adults do not watch anime, as much as you try to convince yourself otherwise.

I'm not talking about the average soccer mom. I don't consider those people adults.

You will say: ''My aunt plays Super Mario Sunshine every'' So adults do play games!

Adults in our lifetime do not really behave mature. Very few people actually do. Watch the US Office for example. Back then, people like these were not considered ''adults''.

Would this man, if he lived in our lifetime play games? I doubt it. Because games is not considered a proper form of entertainement for adults.

As I said, adults do not play games. And if they do, they play Civilization, Age of Empires, EvE Online, or similiar games.

Of course adutls like to be entertained, but they prefer the Theater, the Cinema or a ****cal Music concert.

When I say games are targeted towards teenagers, kids, students and the average soccer mom. People seem to get immediately sensitive and offended by my words. Why? Every person has the right to be entertained, not just adults.

Just calm down, I have absolutely no intention of offending anyone. I'm just trying to end Threads like ''Wii iz for kidz'' or ''Blood and Violence iz for teh mature''.

Because neither are considered proper adult games. Wheter that be your average Colourfull platformer or Bloody Resident Evil.

Edit: Why in Gods name, is Cl@ssi€al being censored? -_-

lol. im not sure what youre talking about, but this is a videogame forum, no need to get into a philosophical rant about what "adult" really means.
