"when it time to upgrade your mac you pick it up by the handle it comes with and throw it in the trash, and drop another $3000 for another one"GTR_FX
so good for the environment wasting that lovely monitor everytime the cpu and ram get outdated. With a pc you just have to swap cpu/mob/ram/gpu which is much cheaper than buying a whole new computer and you get to keep your nice monitor.

[QUOTE="imprezawrx500"][QUOTE="PS3nut"][QUOTE="crazy-player"] Oh really? You can customize a mac? Last time I checked the most recent GFX card for mac was the 8800GT, there's better cards out now... you can also put Mac OS on a PC. But that doesn't matter, because we're talking only about MACs, not emulation of a Windows OS on MACs.

Go to Apples website and customize a MAC PRO 8 CORE with all the best hardware they have on the site and if Apple doesn't offer the graphics card your talking about, it doesn't mean that it can't be purchased else where and used in the MAC PRO, Apple guarantees the 8 CORE PRO to be fully upgradeable with the latest hardware available.

sorry but I don't see ant core i7 and the best gpu is a year old 8800gt so until apple adds the core i7 and the 295gtx the pc will still be faster and if you really want and obviously money is no issue here you can get a dual socket motherboard and get 2 core i7 giving you 8 core and 16 threads and then add 3 295gtx and the mac is not even in the same league.

Even if they do get added, it would still be overpriced and not worth it at all.

Still inferior to the PC. They only have an 8800GT for mac, that's the most powerful out there. Compare that to a HD 4870x2. When I went to the Apple website, they said the 2600xt is the standard... seriously?

Too bad there is no game or any other software that even supports the graphics card your talking about, right now hardware technology is way ahead of software tech, MAC includes what is currently able to be utilized, even the 512 cards like mine are not yet used to there full capacity yet. So i think you'd better try to find another fault because that one fails.

lets see you max out gta4 on your precious mac then. just because macs don't go any better doesn't mean there is no use for them.

They aren't really built for serious gaming. That, and there's not a big enough market to warrant investment into (as evident by the constant and persistance Mac bashing in this thread).

For the record, I own 3 PC's, 2 HP laptops, and the Mac Pro listed in my sig (which also runs Vista x64) so don't label me one of those "Apple is for idiots" people.

FYI: The best card that Apple offers is not the 8800 GT. It's the NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600 with 1.5GB GDDR3 RAM. Although this card still isn't well suited for gaming - more of a 3D rendering workhorse if you ask me.

[QUOTE="PS3nut"][QUOTE="crazy-player"]Wow, I just customized a "gaming" Mac... it turned out to about $5000. I can get that in a PC for about $800. This is what was in the Mac: 4GB Ram 3.2 Ghz Processor 8800GT 320GB HDD

I have those same specs in my IMAC but with a Terabyte hard drive and it cost me $2500.00, don't give me that $800 garbage, no decent PC " gaming rig " can be bought for much less than $2000.00, and to prove my point i'll go to the Alienware and HP site and get the totals.

alright then q9650 = $345 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115130 4gb ram = $27 after rebate http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145184 geforce 285gtx = $350 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150334 2x 1tb seagate hard drive = $210 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148373 motherboard $195 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131294 blu ray drive $200 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136155 vista x64 ultimate $180 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116493 so $1507 vs $2000 for a system that is well over 2x the power and will run everything much much better, no matter how you try a push it a pc is always cheaper and gives you more power.

You clearly just showed that you have no idea how to game on a computer. You don't buy a prebuild PC you build your own and a decent rig is about $500-600 and a High End about $700-800.

Pop ups, viruses, crashes, on PCs? Lol. I love the consensus that some of this is true. I've been using XP since around 2003, and I've had about 3 BSODs, all of which happened from some driver issues, my fault entirely. I've had 2 harmful viruses, 1 of which I didn't know how to get rid of back then, and still haven't had one since about 2006. If you know how to use a PC properly, there should be literally no problems that a Mac can't have.

[QUOTE="0rbs"]You're in a game forum, arguing about mac's being a viable gaming platform, when they're not, i love my mac as much as you probably love yours, but talking about it playing games, and ignoring that, and sprouting things off like a parrot, doesn't help your cause, it just makes you look like a troll.PS3nut
Yes i'm in a gaming forum but i'm not comparing the game aspect between PC and Macs i'm comparing the computers themselves.

No, the only thing you're doing is comparing OS.

Still not the best workstation card on the market.
