I personally think this year's contenders are at a much higher calibre to decide from. Though lets take a look:

I also left out Alan Wake. Heavy Rain was an 8 hour adrenalin rush. Good game, but hardly GOTY worthy.

Agreed. It was decent for a single completion, but Game of the Year material it is not.

I hope you're not insinuating that you're experience and personal opinion generally outlines the concensus. I like Heavy Rain, trust me, but you look at any GOTY thread and you'll see that it rarely comes up as much compared to the one's I've already mentioned

It would have still won I think. I mean just go play the game its so much fun. I seriously cannot find much wrong with the game. Its definitely one of the best games I have played this gen.

Lol its not even hate. Its just cows are overexaggerating how good U2 is. I admit the game is really good, trust me, it's the only game i've played through 5 times, clocked up 40 hours of gameplay, platinumed and gotten to level 20 online in four hours. But honestly, there are other games just as good as U2 (ME2 for example) and my opinion and experience doesnt account for the gaming community. I'm just interested to see how my favourite game would have fared against this years competition.

Its like lems saying how Halo is the paradigm of shooters and people saying its not as great as it they say it is.

Darksiders is not even on PC yet. It's a console game. And it's a blatant rip-off of Zelda, just like you said Uncharted is a rip-off of Dude Raider.

ME2 and U2 are polar opposites. Its the epitome of linear vs non-linear and nigh impossible to compare let alone say one is better than the other.

The question would then be which game/games would be winning those awards instead? If U2 came out this year it'd probably still win a good portion of those awards since it would have probably been more poslished and feature rich because of the extra dev time over the rest.
