UC2 had no competition in 2009. If it was released this year, it would not have nearly as many GOTY awards.

and there happened to be no Crysis game in 2009 to steal any excess glory.

It probably wouldn't have won as many, but it still would've won a lot because it's still one of the highest rated games out there.

Uncharted 2 won more awards (not just GOTY) than 99% of games ever released. At some point it almost became silly when it hauled in 10 separate awards at the AIAS awards.

So would Uncharted 2 have won quite as many awards if it came out this year? Possibly no, but it's still the #6 ranked game of all time, it's still better in all likelihood than every game on that list. It's still a lasting proof and testament that Naughty Dog is everything some of us have said it is over the years and more.

Starcraft 2 is an infinitely better game, so no, it'll have no chance.

heavy rain, halo reach and fable 3 are the games I think are most deserving so far.

Last year had some pretty decent competition but with starcraft 2, mario galaxy 2, mass effect 2...

I agree, but only for OoT and MM, the rest aren't as good as those two. I really didn't like TP either. Maybe Skyward Sword will be better, but I find their refusal to move forward with the IP is going to hurt it.

Ehh, I don't like comparing games from different generations. Its like asking who would win between Ali and Roy Jones? Don't get me wrong, OoT and MM are definately great games, but they're in a different league, one that can't be compared to this gen. Of course, it's always fun to argue which is better.

I wouldn't say polar opposites as they both have 3rd person shooter elements and are story driven. Just one is more action adventure while one is a Sci-fi action RPG. Both are my favorite games this gen for sure so they have that in common also. LOL.

Characters are bland, cover system pales in comparison to Gears or Uncharted, horse riding loses its "neato" factor after half an hour and story was just a recycled, more boring version of the GTA games.
