If Uncharted 2 Is So Good, Why Didn't It Outsell Halo 3?

I'm sure it's a good game, but why did it not outsell Halo? I'm very curious. Any PS3 owners care to comment?

If The Wire is such a good show why didn't it have ratings as high as American Idol?

Sony didn't spend half as much on advertising, its not a first person shooter and halo is more popular.

Uncharted 2 is very awesome though. A gamer's game, not a frat boy's game.

I have no idea what "Hurt Locker" is. I do know what Transformers and Paul Blart are.

Let me tell you something, there are great games that get poor sales. There are great games that get Fantastic Sales.
HALO is a Phenom, it's one of THE BEST selling games EVER, so comparing HALO's Sales to 99% of the world's greatest games is going to result in Halo winning.:roll:

That doesn't change the quality of the games you are comparing be it Splinter Cell, to Metal Gear Solid 4 to Super Mario Galaxy to Mass Effect to Uncharted 2.
Why did you not mention that at UNCHARTED 2 got over 30 perfect scores, and is the second highest rated game of this entire generation.

This applies to fantastic movies that get low sales, Fantastic Music CD's that get low sales, Fantastic anything. Sometimes these things just don't sell. That doesn't make then crap now does it?

Then you forget to mention that you are comparing a New IP this Generation to an old, super established high quality IP from last gen...did that slip your mind.
That's like comparing FORZA 3 to the Gran Turismo series, and asking all the Xbox fans why FORZA 3 doesn't sell as well. That doesn't make FORZA 3 crappy.

Good games dosent need to outsell halo u know.. its been doing great and so far it passed the 1 million mark which is really good

I already answered why Wii Fit sold so well. What pissed me off was I saw someone comment that 1) Uncharted has outscored any game in the Halo franchise and 2) If Halo came out today it wouldn't get the same score. I mean if people are that blinded I have to at least talk to them.

quality is NOT a direct factor in a games quality whatsoever, this inesertion is absoltely ludicrous. So TC do you think psychonauts was a bad game because it hardly sold? And do you think pokemon or that workout game for the Wii are the greatest games ever? Thank god sales dont = quality, or gaming would be a rotting hobby. the day casual garbage gamers with no heart decide what games are good with there pocketbooks and wallets is the day true gamers like me are done.

Not at all. Despite popular belief on this forum, most high selling games are of good quality. However, games sell based on appeal and marketing, they don't sell based purely on quality. Thus you cannot directly correlate a good game to how much it will sells.

Here is an easy answer there are more 360's sold then PS3's. So assuming quality = sales and assuming the quality of Halo 3 and Uncharted 2 is equivalent, and that 50% of 360 owners bought Halo 3 and 50% of PS3 owners bought Uncharted 2, the amount of Halo 3 units would be higher; because there are more 360's sold then Ps3's. Also Halo 3 ODST came out before Uncharted 2 so it has had a greater opportunity to sell more. So in order for an apple to apple comparison you would need to compare the amount of games sold for a set time period; and then instead of using a total number you would need the proportion of 360 owners who purchased Halo 3, compared to a proportion of PS3 owners who purchased Uncharted 2.
