if you mean xbox1, then yes, i still would have bought it.
if you mean 360, then yes i still would have bought it
For me personally Morrowind and KOTOR were the greatest console games of last gen, but RPG's (and emphasis on roleplaying) are my thing.Let's say that I never bought an Xbox, even with Halo...
Wasn't that great of a system imo. Xbox 360, now that's a different story.

[QUOTE="manny280"]wow your on a roll with these fanboyish threads todayzatoninja
I'm not trying to be a fanboy, as I said in the OP, the results will be "interesting EITHER way".
dont take it personally its just that im sick of 1 out of 10 threads in SW being about Halo
I bought my original Xbox for Fable, but along with it I bought Halo: CE. The two seemed to be a perfect pair to start out a new console with. Then Halo 2 came along, midnight launch so yeah, that was awesome.
As for Halo 3, I almost bought a 360 for the game but decided against it. I want to buy a 360 for Fable 2 along with Halo 3, Lost Odyssey and either Eternal Sonata, Mass Effect, or Bioshock, but we'll see where I am at at that point.
Eventually, yes. KotoR and Ninja Gaiden are two of my favorite games of all time.TheDarkDisciple
Mine too. Halo was good, but there were many great Xbox games. The multiplats were usually better on the Xbox as well.
Sure, sure. Halo is great, and undoubtedly one reason I think Live is not only worth the pay itself, but just because it's a well made game. However there are other games I enjoyed on the system... now..
if you asked me "If you had a gaming PC before the 360" my answer may vary... :P
I didn't want the oringal xbox even with halo, PC was good enough for me
xbox 360 yes I wouldn't have bought even though it didn't have halo
IMO 360>>>>>>xbox1
Halo wasn't the reason I bought an Xbox or the 360. I am personally surprised that so many people actually DID buy it just for Halo. There were, in my opinion, far superior single and multiplayer experiences on the system. I still find Crimson Skies to be the most fun I had online on the 360.
Halo 3 has turned out to be one of my least favorite of the big name games on the system.
From the moment I saw the first Dead Rising screen before the 360 launched I knew I had to play that game. And I was not disappointed. Dead Rising is still my favorite game on the system.
I bought xbox for DOA 3, it had nothing to do with halo actually. So I guess the answer is yes, I would have because well, that's what I did.
I didn't know anything about halo until much later and didn't know what all the fuss was about when I actually did play it.
I have...32 games in my Xbox collection not named Halo and 29 games in my Xbox 360 collection that aren't named Halo. There's 61 reasons right there why I would've still purchased the Xbox and Xbox 360.
Although it can be reasonably argued that, without Halo, the first Xbox would've went the way of the Dreamcast and thus, the Xbox 360 wouldn't exist.
Never had the original, but I got the 360 before HALO came out. My brother bought HALO and played it for a few hours and he said he was really bored. Hasn't touched it since. He got it at launch, by the way. I played the original HALO and didn't see what all the fuss was about, it was basically the same situation with my experience.
[QUOTE="blue_hazy_basic"]Halo was a nice addition to the xbox/360 but no where near my most wanted game on either

I'd have to disagree for xbox 1... Halo 1 was a must buy... best game of the generation...Granted, there are better games than halo 3... but still great game
Lmao...NO!!!
It isn't even close. It must suck to be such an uninformed gamer? I'll tell u what Halo 1 was. It was the most mass media/spokesperson driven game of the generation...too bad the hype and talk superseeds the actual game experience.
Halo 1 was however a GREAT game (and my opioion is very jaded) for example there isn't anything that has released this gen that I would call "great". but PS2 has alot better games than Halo (and i'm not even talking pt 2 because that game was garbage) and trying to argue otherwise would just show you're a fanboy.
halo wasnt the reason why i got an xbox. i heard good things about it from friends and random ppl, but was busy with other games like cs. main reason why i got an xbox was doa was exclusive and cause of shenmue 2. xbox had great games that weren't well known like phantom dust and otogi.
i was going to wait on buying xbox 360 intil ninja gaiden 2 was going to come out, but i ended up buying earlier due to gears of war. i almost bought it before due to dead rising and oblivion(didnt have a good pc at the time).
as for halo it ended up being one of my favorite fps games out there due to being different from other fps and having enjoyable campaign along with multiplayer. i understand why ppl had/have halo LAN parties. its one of those games that is really fun to play with friends on split screen or LAN-ing together. It's hard to explain but the whole experience isnt as fun when you playing your friends when your arent LAN-ing
Heck No! That's the only thing It's got going - 16%
It was the deciding factor for me. - 13%
So, basically...29% of the people polled would not have even bought an Xbox without Halo...wow, just wow. There are other games you know.
And my theory about Xbox 360 sales slowing down a lot (after everyone who wanted Halo 3 bought it) is crazy?

Do you realize 29% is less than one third?
To answer the question, I bought a Xbox for PGR and DOA. Two games I loved from Sega days. I also knew that Shenmue 2 was coming out.
I bought Xbox at launch, and only knew that Halo was getting good reviews. However, I did not like FPS up till then. I bought Halo because of the score and was pleased. ONe of the best games of last gen.
