Poll If you game primarily on PC, do you also own a console? if not, do you want one? (84 votes)

I only have a gaming PC, i'd like a console but can't afford one 4%
I only own a gaming PC, not really interested in getting a console 18%
I own a gaming PC plus multiple consoles 51%
I own a gaming PC plus one console 26%

As far as I can tell, the only real argument against PC on here beyond personal preference is a lack of big-budget AAAE games. Console only players seem to assume that PC gamers don't get to play these games since they aren't on their platform of choice.

My thinking is that if you can afford to spend 1k+ on a decent gaming rig and regular upgrades, you can probably afford to spend a few hundred dollars on a console as well for those exclusives so most 'hermits' get to play those anyways, before going back to playing games in the best possible way.

personally, I own a gaming PC and a PS4. I'm really happy on got the PS4, i've gotten a good amount of use out of it, but its absolutely my secondary platform. PC gets 90% + of my gaming time every year.

I also know people who just aren't really interested in those big AAAE type games, and only really play niche indie stuff on PC, so i'm curious how many of those types are on here as well.

if you consider yourself primarily a console gamer, even if you own a gaming PC, i'd ask you not to vote in this poll.

I have a gaming PC that could use an upgrade or two, but in my house I also have a Switch, Wii U, Wii, multiple 3DS, an ancient Game Boy Advance, and a Playstation 3.

I consider the Switch my primary system simply because it is so flexible; for example, I don't have to quit my game if I want to lay down and play in bed.

I game on PC, and have no interest in getting a console. A decade ago, when I was more serious about my gaming, I might have bought one. But these days? PC is enough for me, and that's all that matters.

Own a Switch, PS3/4.

The Switch is rad, the PS3/4 is a waste of time. Used as blueray and PS1 games from PSN store.

PC is my main platform for the majority of my gaming, with a PS4 as the "wingman" for its featured exclusives.

I am manticore with a strong bias towards PC. Consoles are redundant and shit hardware when you have a good gaming PC. I only use them for exclusives, but I don't like wasting money on them. I wish all games were on PC.

I could have gotten a PS4, which I plan to do possibly eventually when it's super cheap; instead, I opted to upgrade my PC, and picked up a 9900k instead.

Ooh, shiny.

I sold my PS4 a couple of months ago and then I bought a Pro recently while working away from home! I was really bored at night as the hotel we were staying in didn't have a bar or restaurant and was miles away from the nearest one. I originally bought the PS4 for the same reason.

PC is my main and the PS4 is my secondary, and I love them both.

I have the other two systems, but I don't use them all that often since there isn't anything to play. For the Switch, I'm waiting for Azure Striker Gunvolt: Luminous Avenger iX, Metroid Prime 4, and Shin Megami Tensei V. The Xbox though, I don't ever see myself using it for anything more than BC.

"I own a gaming PC plus multiple consoles" such as my PS4 & Nintendo Switch. I primary game on PC the most! My PS4 is my main current-gen console I use at home for playing PS4 exclusive games but also, very few 3rd party games and it's also use for media stuff as my personal entertainment machine. I only play Nintendo Switch when I not at home, it's portability function is the best cause I don't have the time to play it at home these days for a Nintendo console.

But overall, PC is my ultimate gaming hobby.

Edit: To any PC gamers out their, I recommend you should at least own a PS4 as your main current-gen console as a nice back up, the console has great exclusive games, it also comes in handy if a 3rd party game doesn't come to PC, you got a back up system to play that game such as RDR2 as an example if you cannot wait for PC version. PC/PS4 is the best combo.

I've had consoles with every PC until the 8th gen. There's really nothing I like on 8th gen consoles except the UC games. That's not enough though.

I guess I should have specified current gen consoles in the poll.

Still, seems like I was right in saying most pc gamers on here also own consoles for those handful of worthwhile exclusives that release for them. So the console fanboys assumption that herms on here don't get to play thos games are generally false.

I'm still a gamer, and that goes for the rest of the PC gamers as well. To me, I don't like missing out exclusive games that will never ever come to PC. Both PS4/Nintendo switch have earned my money, both have awesome fun exclusive games I want to play that badly, I can never do PC gaming only. But ask yourself this, do you really want to play that exclusive game knowing the only way to play it is by buying a console? It's a matter of personal taste.

Consoles=exclusive games only. PC=Everything else.

My PC is my main squeeze. Plus the HTPC in the living room.

I got a base PS4 as soon as Bloodborne came out. Since then I have enjoyed R&C, HZD and GoW as well. (also FFXII, Nioh, and Disgaea 5 - they are all better on PC now though so I sold them)

I got a Switch for a trip across the country this summer. I have enjoyed Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Golf Story, Octopath and a few indies I wanted in a portable form. I also enjoyed BotW for about 20 hours before I realized its true nature and became bored with it.

I just recently picked up an X1X with the $100 off deal with RDR2. I am enjoying RDR2 and a few BC games - Ninja Gaiden Black!!!! Game Pass is a great deal. It's def the best console as far as build quality, makes the PS4 feel like a toy by comparison. Who knows what other games I'll use it for.

I am so much happier just using the main rig or the HTPC. They both work so much better than any console. I have 4 DS3 controllers ready to go wirelessly on the HTPC for local coop games like Lovers In A Dangerous Space Time.

PC will always be my preferred hardware to use. I will likely continue to buy all the consoles until we grow out of this exclusivity nonsense.

I decided not to waste my money on getting a console for myself this gen. I bought a WiiU for my daughter and wife though and ended up playing BOTW which has turned out to be my 3rd favorite game ever, probably.

Have a PC and will only game on PC, I have outgrown consoles, I'd basically be paying for a tiny box for the sake of funding a company and adds nothing to my gaming experience, every great game released on consoles would have undoubtedly been better on PC, not even the worst of peasants can deny that fact.

I own a whole bunch of consoles going back to the Atari. I have an Xbox One but I never play it. Mostly just use it as a blu ray player. I spend a lot of time at the PC that it is more convenient to play on it too. Just feels weird to play on consoles now.

Yes, I own a PS4. It's collecting dust at the moment, unfortunately. While I enjoyed games like Horizon: Zero Dawn, God of War, and a few others, they just don't match the quality of content a lot of PC exclusives have that are made with a fraction of the budget.

I guess what I am saying is that when I play one of these so-called "AAA" games (a label that used to mean quality, now simply means "big wasteful budget"), they are disappointing. They ooze a lot of "coolness" and all that "wow factor" stuff but when that initial gloss and shine wears off you're left with really dull games. I often am left pondering "is this it? Is this the best they can do?"

I feel the same way. There was probably a time in my younger years where a toy like the PS4 would have entertained me a bit more, but these days I grow tired of toys or have outgrown them.

PC, on the other hand, is a tool. Always useful, always relevant, never outdated, always awesome.

I game only on a PC but ideally I'd also want to own a PS4 owing to some of its exclusives (not to mention I could be playing Red Dead Redemption 2 now). The reason I haven't purchased one is that without a steady income I'd consider it a waste of a console since I'm only interested in a handful of its games.

I'm mostly a PC gamer but also like nintendos consoles. i also like handhelds (and would love a proper gaming handheld PC....cmon SmachZ. be a real thing!). i think the library of both compliment each other well.

at the moment though most of my gaming is on the switch due to MHGU which is a stupidly large game. i also need to get back to octopath traveler and xenoblade 2 (also a bit big).

the backlog on my PC frightens me though :S. i want to finish pillars 1 as i think pillars 2 is in pretty good shape now and ready to go. warhammer2 TW is also coming to linux later this month and i have barelt scratched warhammer 1. i also have the likes of stardew valley and hollow knight which is i want the smachz (sure i could get them again on the switch....and that would be more financially sensible.....but....er.....what was my point?).

I have a PS3 also but dont use it much. i have dabbled in RDR1 on it recently and may play some more of that but its not grabbing me so far. im thinking about a PS4 for some of the exclusives (spiderman, gravity rush 2, wipeout, SOTC, horizon) but some of its big hitters like uncharted dont interest me either so i am humming and hawing over it. part of me thinks waiting for the PS5 would be better. then raid the PS4 catalogue and whatever big PS5 game is there. another part of me just want to bite the bullet. and another part again is thinking "bloody hell man look at your PS3, PC, switch, 3DS, wiiu and vita backlog. are ya mad?"

PC only atm, sometimes i do buy nintendo handhelds, however they are dust collectors most of the time as there is barely anything playable on it.

Consoles frankly have no interesting content i would be interested in. The last one i owned was a PS2 and N64 but those are all playable on PC now anyway so zero point to even connect those up.

I have a PC and for consoles I have an Xbox 360 and Wii which I still enjoy. I don't have any current gen console since getting rid of my Xbone. I have to say though, the Xbox 360 hasn't aged for me, just about everything is as highly playable.

I have a PSTwo and Wii U, I don't really use them much. Don't mind having the Wii U though, didn't buy it outright, just swapped a load of old games I didn't want at a shop.

PC Gaming just isn't what it use to be.

Console gaming is doing better than it ever has, if not better all time.

I got the PC/Xbox combo for office, the HTPC/PS4 in living room, and the classic consoles in the bedroom.

PC was main for years, but I bought into 8.5th gen and haven't looked back. Every time I think about looking back, something lame AF happens in the DIY community, whether shitty prices, wrecked drivers/updates, etc. PC is a nightmare.

I have a PS4. Until RDR2 came along I used it for netflix & prime and not much else. I'd dusted it off briefly for one of the Ass Creed games and I own horizon dawn that someone bought me last year but its still unopened lol

There's just nothing on consoles to give me my strategy fix.

I look at systems as nothing but a means to an end. If it has a game I want, I buy it. It’s that simple.

I completely disagree with this opinion (although you are allowed to have this opinion.)

The reason being, PC is getting more games than ever before. There was previous gens were quite a few games wouldn't see the light of day on PC. Now it gets the most AAA or AA games that get made period. It currently has it's biggest win at MC and GS in history. PC still gets the games it normally would have gotten, only now they also happen to go to console as well. Why would a developer skip out on quick and easy profit? In now way does this harm the actual PC gamer.

As far as Console is concerned, I also disagree. Consoles get less exclusives than ever before, almost all of their library is just stuff that is way way better played on PC. I can't imagine playing over 90% of releases on those toys over PC.
