Ps4 would smoke any pc that cost $800 to make.HeirrenI don't know about smoking/killing it. $800 now a days can get you a PC that includes 12GB ram @1600mhz, 6-8core amd cpu and an overclocked 7870 GPU. Thats pretty hard to smoke....... (espically since price drops will allow that $800 to go even further come launch time).
It's pretty low end compared to the 1000 PC's and 1500 dollar PC's.Uh...with $600 - $750, one could build a far better PC than "Low End" :?
But I'd take the PC.

Low end PCs are like those you buy from Best Buy for 300 - 400 with integrated graphics and low end CPUs.

PS4, not because of specs but because of Sony exclusives that are better than most PC games imo
Now that The Witcher and Diablo are multiplat, I dont see a reason why to chose a PC over the PS4
my opinion, dont butthurt on me please

Â
Diablo III really isnt that good a game, its funny you console gamers want it all of a sudden now its been officially announced. Strange how PC games become good when they go multi plat but any other time its "Ill stick to my consoles because PC doesnt have any games that I am interested in".
Â
Â
i bet many console fanboys prasing it now have no clue what Diablo III even is. I mean they hear about it and maybe saw a poster of it at gamestop but have no clue what kind of game it is.
I actually played Diablo 2 back in the day, I know what kind of game it is. I was interested in playing D3 on my PC but the constant online DRM was a huge turn off for me. I suppose D3 will not have DRM on consoles so thats why I'm interested in playing it

Even then they still play some pretty decent games ranging from the old ass ones on GoG to newer indie titles. So much to PC gaming aside from pretty graphics but this forum never seems to get it >.>Terrible analogy. More like think of when Mac moved to OSX and programs designed for pre-OSX systems didn't work.Think of Steam upgrading and not allowing you to play any of the games you already purchased.

What would i get PC for ?
The games i want are all on consoles, 90% are exclusive to them
Fable, Alan Wake, Bravely Default, Zelda, Demons SOuls, Dark Souls, Elder Scrolls, Witcher 2-3, Deep Down, FF15 Agnes, FF13vs, Last Guardian, Ni no Kuni, Watchdogs, Star Wars, Mass Effect, Dragons Crown, Dust, Halo, Gears, God of War, Lost Odyssey, Tales of Vesperia, Halo, Gears, Uncharted, Diablo 3, heavey Rain, Last of Us etc etc etc
All console games, most are not on PC
PS4, it's both, a Playstation and powerful PC.

*cough It's not a pc and if it were it would be a 600$ medium low pc..
600-750 PC is hardly "low end". And personally, PS4. I already have a decent enough PC since my GTX 460 1GB still allows me to play all the games I want to play on excellent settings. The PS4 seems a better investment to make this year. Ill probably upgrade some time in 2014.

WTF give you that idea? Holy **** comon guys its 8 gigs GDDR5 ram. Did all of you forget that fact and are simply comparing the PS4 1.84 TFlop GPU to PC GPUs without even counting the fact that the PS4 is a closed platform and has a massive bank of video memory available?
a $700 PC should easy keep up with ps3. SO PC more freedom, 99% games are cheaper, mods, of course more uses for a PC

RAM does not equal processing power.
The PS4 is similar in power to a 2010 high end PC but it does have a nice amount of RAM that will help with things like textures and less cell streaming.

This isn't simply RAM. Its unified GRAPHICS MEMORY. It can and will be used to create extra GPU processing power. The amount of polygons and texture quality the PS4 can produce with so much graphics memory could be downright incredible.

A $750 PC will run every game now at 1080p resolutions, and I imagine max settings.
When you go for the $1000-$1500 PCs that's for like, triple monitor setups, or 2560x1600 resolutions, and such like that which is enthusiast level.
Low end is what you'd call something you might buy at the store with integrated graphics.

But get this. With more graphics memory you are able to display much more detailed graphics as the system is able to store higher detailed assets in memory. They are also able to have significantly more assets on screen at any one time and allow games to be played at high resolutions. Even some of the top PCs out there are still at 2GB of graphics memory.
PC is horribly overpriced in any price point  just to play video games. Unoptimized console ports that requires 2x more processing power vs toy consoles will require you to shell in thousands of dollars.

Â
For the first year or two the PS4 will be under utilized.
So the 2GB cards will be fine.
By the time that you have to start lowering texture resolution more than consoles in order to play with 2GBs of vRAM there will be cheaper 4gb vRAM cards.
Â
Kind of like how my 6800gt from 2004 was playing most games as well as the xbox 360 until around 2007 and by then there were 8800gt cards for around 200USD which were around 3x the power of the 360.

yes you are right. But do you really think a $750 PC right now will last as long as a PS4 even at console resolutions (which will likely be 1080p this gen)? I personally doubt it. The fact that developers are able to code to the metal on the PS4 makes the possibilities of optomization even higher this gen than they were last gen. Man I can't understate how impressed I am with the system Sony put together.
No it doesn't. Sony mentioned you could stream PS3 games but didn't really give out a whole lot of details, a feature I think that will be hidden away in Playstation Plus.Just wondering......
Does the PS4 have backward-compatibility with PS3 games?

I hope Sony will have a system that will recognize PS3 games that you own and allow you to stream them on the PS4 without PS+. I'm assuming having PS+ will have access to the entire catalogue of streamable games.
Assuming games are not a deciding factor (as preference is subjective).Â
PS4 no brainer. It will last you 5-6 years. It will probably have better gfx down the strech too (thanks to optimization).Â

The API overhead from PC is experienced more on the CPU side.
The PC GPU is less hindered and will perform around the same as a similar powered console GPU.
Since the PS4 CPU is not that powerful and relies more on core count for multithreading a PC with an i5 2500k or better should be fine for many years.
Also the advantage of a PC is that you can overclock the GPU and CPU for increased performance without the need to upgrade.
I currently have overclocked an i5 2500k to 4.2ghz and still have some extra room to OC it to 4.6ghz if I wanted since I am using a Noctua NH-D14 CPU heatsink for cooling.
Consoles can't oc because they have to rely on lower power consumption and lower temps.
Well..................................................................... Ps4, cuz it has the games I want. If I get a PC, what am I going to play? I cant think of anything on PC that will get me even slightly interesting on playing. BF4? not really into those types of shooters. PS2? looks cool, but aint no body got time for that. Um wat else? MMO, no thanks. Nengo_Flow
How do you know PS4 has the games you want when only about 3 exclusives have been revealed for it
It is infuriating that backwards compatibility is not a given in consoles.. When I want to play a older pc game, I don't have to lug out my machine from the 90s to play them.. Yet we actually have people defending this move by the console makers.. Wtf?sSubZerOo
It sucks yes, but in the case of the PS4 its kind of unavoidable. The architecture is completely different. "Coding to the metal" will also cause problems with backwards compatability.

But the 8gb of memory is total system memory for the PS4. Not all 8gb is going to be for the graphics card.
On top of that simply having a large amount of ram doesn't mean better graphics. It still has to have the processing power behind it. You can't just strap 8gb of ram to a computer from 2000, and all of a sudden pull off stellar graphics.
you have to remember this forum is full of consolites, Majority~ , they are biased and uninformed about graphics and price of pc components, not to mentioned retarded in what a pc type architecture means for next gen consoles in regards to graphic pushing technoledgy . This isnt the cell arcutecure, Devs will be pushing the full performance of the ps4 gpu almost immediately. That means the future does not hold better graphics.

This seems most reasonable. I can virtually guarantee that if you build a $600 or $700 PC today, it will not perform as well as the PS4 on multiplatform games in general, and will have to be upgraded later anyway.
Â
To put things in perspective: I have an HD 7950, which is basically one of the more powerful graphics cards available today, and even at this late stage in the current console cycle I can't max every game and get the smooth 1080p/60fps that I desire. All of the Assassin's Creed games, The Witcher 2, Crysis 2 (with DirectX11, high res textures), Crysis 3, Farcry 3, Metro 2033, Deus Ex Human Revolution, Shogun 2....these are all games that I cannot achieve a smooth 60fps in.Â
It's the sad reality. Even though I upgraded to a fairly high-end graphics card at the tail end of the console generation (7 years in) I still can't max every game and get a smooth framerate without judder. Plus, there are too many games, even on PC, which don't give enough anti-aliasing options and thus leave a fair amount of jaggies present. Crysis 2, Farcry 3, Deus Ex HR, and The Witcher 2 are all guilty of this.Â
It's for reasons like these that my enthusiasm for the PC as a gaming platform has diminished a bit. I still enjoy it and believe that it is a very good choice for some people, but it's possible I might be spending more time on the PS4 next generation than on PC.Â

Its the whole reason i went with gaming pc instead, till i realized the games were also good as well.  Computer games feel way more alive than console games.
