If you have a console, no reason to own PC too

Unless of course you want to play super niche titles like Star Citizen or old ass steam games.

Once the PC version of rise ended up looking barely better then the same lauch title on the Xbone it was obvious PC is becoming a joke to everyone who goes outside their basement.

Dont bother trying to convince me PC is worth getting too. Because its not. Why would I ever build a PC to PS4 spec and miss out on the PSN and iuts great features like getting free games every month? Oh I forgot you guys get old ass PC game sales all the time on Steam.. Boo hoo.

Thing is hermits are still begging for GTAV and its been out for a year. Console gets all the great games that arent super niche like Star Citizen. And they look and play fantastic. No reason at all to bother throwing money down the toilet for a PC

PC and PS4, is the perfect combination for this gen, all exclusives on ps4 and pa for all multiplies and most of X1 exclusives are being released on pm now and Microsoft now allowing all games to be able to play through a program on pm soon enough there is no point in an X1 and even Microsoft are saying it to with there actions

This is true, PC fanatics are either some extreme graphics whores that like to throw money out of the window for hardware or some young chump with a weakass PC posing as some masterrace while playing LOL/Dota all day.

Im playing the best games from PC (aka indies) on a laptop and miss nothing with consoles as the AAA gaming plattform.

I have all these consoles laying around, with interesting games left unplayed, but still 99% of my gaming time is spent on PC. So it must be doing something right.

Star citizen a niche title ? Well thats a new one. I mean a game that already has a bigger budget than most Sony or MS exclusives solely due to backing of pc gamers is a niche game ?

I dunno if I became overly sceptic or just smartened up from past experiences. But consoles at launch are just sold on a lot of hype, graphics and barely any (decent) launch games. After that there is a long period of waiting and then 2-3 years down the line it gets it's killer app.

Wii U on the other hand, yeah that one is nice. It received a lot of killer apps this year.

I have a next-gen console. If I didn't have a PC, I would have nothing to play right now.

and nah i can't agree about wii u because my experience has been ... dreadful. some killer apps? maybe, but still, even if they gave me two games for free i'd be done with them in two weeks, then back to the pc.

but yeah basically i don't agree with the tc's premise that if you have a console you don't need pc. two consoles, yeah maybe, but a console, nah.

Sure for some people 2 consoles can be enough. I can't go without PC gaming anymore. I tried it last gen because of the cost of upgrading compared to the cost of a console. But I came back from that decision really fast.

How has your experience been dreadful?

These are all killer apps for me: Pikmin, Donkey Kong, NSMB U, Wonderful 101, Mario 3D World, Mario Kart. Tomorrow I'll be getting Bayonetta 2 and soon SSB (ok, lots of sequels, but still...)

I see what you mean, though. Even if I love playing Mario Kart 8 I still don't launch it as much as I should because of my time spent on PC.

@R4gn4r0k: oh yeah pc's definitely my main through and through now, just offers the most games and a fantastic high frame rate experience.

basically with the wii u experience a lot of it was definitely nintendo's fault eg: 9/11 promised 'launch window' games failed to make the launch window. i bought the thing expecting 11/11, only getting 2 severely knocked my confidence. also things like the vibration of the gamepad, and the super slow UI (so hard to do anything). as well as crashes which required unplugging the power brick. nintendoland was great though.

the rest is kinda my fault, kinda nintendo's fault for ruining my confidence in their machine. but basically after all this i kind of gave up on the thing. but who can blame me? really, i've gotta buy some games more games at some point, but with pc being so strong and the wii u having disappointed me so much already - i've got very little motivation to buy anything on wii u.

wonderful 101, pikmin, bayo, 3d mario - there's a few on there i've yet to try and i will in time. but i'm sure anyone can appreciate that if i've been given 'the run around', and i've got a strong system to fall back on - its no wonder i've gone dark on the thing. that's my wii u experience.

If you're fine with no backwards compatibility, no K/M support, only choice of Dualshock 4, paying for multiplayer, no option to change settings (including resolution), no option to improve your frame rate, no mod support and terrible sales, sure, you don't need a PC.

There's no reason to own anything you don't like, regardless of popularity or critical acclaim. So many ridiculous claims and radical opinions on this board. It's a little creepy.

more prone to hardware faults, barely any games, you pay more for less actually.

I bought a NSMB U pack for a great price and I have been enjoying the system ever since.

Since their last UI update you can get in game from startup really fast.

Just leave the system be for a while, don't sell it, then come back when there are loads of games to play on it. Than you can see if your opinion about it has changed.

Nah, it's so you can get excited to buy San Andreas a second time. With 720p resolution and an increased draw distance

something PC has been doing for years now. I remember a mod that let you see all the way across the map, lol. And if they add the iPhone improved sprites, those are modded into the PC version as well (+ 1080p)

Other way around for me.

PC = more games than all consoles combined, best versions of multiplats, best graphics and performance, most control options, cheaper games and... well a never ending list of why it completely dominates consoles in every way, aside from accessibility.

Of course I still do buy consoles, but they're more of a side show. If exclusives didn't exist I would never buy one again.

Right now, PC is kicking ass as always. My Wii U is delivering on good exclusives, but Nintendo can only put out so many games. My PS4 is the great dust collector that I bought solely for the best version of MGSV... that will now be on PC instead.

If I didn't own a PC my gaming life would feel empty, that's for damn sure.

I don't know why it's not seen as such a downside to consoles. People play it off as "Well it's launch year. Of course it's bad".

Meanwhile, PC just gets good games all the time. There are no ruts between gens, there are no droughts between exclusives.

People so easily buy into hype which is really hard to understand when we're on a gaming forum. Shouldn't people using this site be more informed of what actually goes on in the gaming industry?

Exactly! Even the mobile version of San Andreas runs at 1080p, lmao! Consoles are always getting the scraps because developers know consolites are easy to milk.

You have it backwards. If you have a gaming PC, even one a few years old, you don't need a console.

Still begging for GTA V ? Nah, TC. We're modding older GTA games so we don't need to rebuy them. How about you ?

I agree but to be fair the PC is seeing it's share of 'launch' trouble too with a number of crappy ports these past months: Dead Rising 3, The Evil Within and the last one being AC: Unity.

But in all fairness, those games also have trouble on the consoles.

I'll still take the fact that all three games are better on PC regardless.

Good enough for me, and it would seem good enough for console users because that's one of their common arguments for being console gamers

PC gets mods of liscenced content like my home countrys league in FIFA that a console will NEVER EVER SEE....

Why don't you own a full PC? It's 2014, in this day and age everyone should have a PC. Tablets and Phones cannot do everything. they can't run programs like Photoshop, 3DS Max and such (and no the MS Surface doesn't count, because while it "can" run them, but not nearly as efficient as a Good PC with a GPU. They can't do anything with discs you might have, like ripping a huge collection of music too so you can put it on a MP3 player. And no I'm not going to spends hundreds and hundreds of dollars buying inferior MP3 versions of albums I already own. It's much easier typing a MS word document on a PC than it is on a Tablet. Some sites are not tablet friendly.

Most jobs will have you using a PC too, so knowledge and use of a PC is going to be more of use to you as well in the job market.

And PC's will be around for as long as Video games and movies are around, Because guess what, they are what developers use to make the games and edit movies on, not tablets.

So if I'm gonna need a PC anyway, why not beef it up a bit and make a monster, then I get the added benefit of playing games. But why stop there, I want to play some games on consoles so I bought a PS4, Wii-U and X1, all three major platforms just like I did last gen and the gen before that.

And don't give me that crap about Tablets getting more powerful, because as they do so will PC's. There will always be a massive gap in power difference between the two.

PC gaming IS uber expensive....for 14 year olds.

Cheaper software that performs better and can be played 20 years down the road on your future hardware is better than the current console paradigm in my opinion. Consoles are just the unfortunate intermediaries you have to suffer through in order to access exclusives games they keep hostage.

A gaming pc has better graphics, much higher performance which means better frame rates and more responsive gameplay, more control options, mods, cheaper games and free online. If anything I would say that having a gaming pc is better than just owning just a next-gen console. Though I think you should at least have one next gen console for the exclusives and a gaming pc if you can afford it.

Who says you'll miss them out? What's wrong with having more choice with console+PC combo?

Extremely versatile platform that can be catered to the wants of the individual and not the masses.

• controllers, keyboards, setup to your liking regardless if a software does not want it set like this.
• Muilty peripheral setups. Want a racing rig setup with all kinds of hardware, feedbacks etc? Want a full flight simulator or mech battle setup? All possible.
• Multiple screen submersion
• Extreme scalability of games and hardware. Low to High settings, resolutions, after affects all at your discretion.
• Living Room experience, Computer desk experience. Mix both to one unit. All easily done.
• Want portability? Laptops of varying power and scale are all options.
• Want the biggest collection of games on one platform? Then why not the PC as its catalog of games is hilariously large and encompasses several console "generations".

I find it funny each new console generation is just a step up to a full fledged PC yet no one notices the Pc has been doing these new console ideas for years.

The only reason to have a console is solely the exclusive games. It is a bit hyprocritcal as many of the members discredit the PC for a console but also discredit the WiiU for lack of games while it has great exclusives. I still don't understand that. We are almost 2 years into this new console generation and lately its been a big lackluster from other console generations.

I still remember the days when console gamers wanted and enjoyed unison of one machine. Now people are running ps3's. ps4's and buying rehashed HD versions of there classics just to enjoy what they want.

Fair to say TC has been owned to hell and back again if only they avoided resorting to fanboy nonsense they may actually get somewhere with their threads/ownage.
