It depends on what you are looking for. A Link to the Past has a pretty nice balance between arcade/combat oriented gameplay and the latter puzzle solving stuff that became the serie's main thing. The first one on the NES is... Well, it's NES hard. Not a trace of hand-holding whatsoever. Both Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess are pretty damn good if you want to know more about the whole Zelda universe; stuff like races, what is Hyrule, its history and what makes it what it is. Try not to listen to people when they tell you that Twilight Princess is some sort of abomination that should have never been released. Sure, the overworld can feel a little empty and the wolf parts are really annoying in the beginning, but once you get the ability to change form at will, the game really begins to shine and, despite what others may tell you, every single gameplay element in Twilight Princess, while being derivative from Ocarina of Time, was polished to hell and back.
OoT or Twilight Princess I think.
I'd do OoT, Majora's Mask, then Twilight Princess. They are all similar, but it shows the evolution. They're also the only 3 I've played!
I'd start with OoT. It's aged a bit, but the later games make references to it.
I'd play MM next, since playing the GC games before MM might make it feel like a step back.
Then WW
Then TP
Then SS
I have NEVER played a bad Zelda game, so any of them would be good.
BUT if you want MY opinion I would recommend going with either 1 of these 3:
1) A Link To The Past-Best top down Zelda ever made IMO. This is actually the first Zelda game I got into because at the time this came out I was old enough to read, so I understood what I was supposed to do. You can find on a multitude of systems, I think it's also available for the Wii Network.
2) Wind Waker-Some people hate the art style, I think it's fine. It's a got a good pace and is very fun. I definately recommend it, it's a GameCube game but you can also play it on the Wii as well with it's BC.
3) Ocoraina of Time- Regarded as one of the best games ever made, it's a truly epic adventure on a grand scale. Only downside is that the N64 controller is so outdated, but if you get used to it then you should give it a try. It was recently remade for the 3DS.
Though IMO the best Zelda is actually Majora's Mask. It has a bit of a darker side to it which I thought made it more interesting. I swear the music at the canyon in that game still gives me shivers, especially because it was haunted with weirdos.

[QUOTE="BrunoBRS"][QUOTE="mems_1224"]:lol:mems_1224that was my reaction to your post, so i guess we're even?sorry, LTTP=best game ever made. nothing you say will ever change my opinion of that and why would i want to change your opinion? just saying i disagree.
OOT or one of the DS ones. Personally the old ones would be harder to get into and you're not likely to play all of them anyway. So I'd say skip to the good more modern bits.
You can pratically get them all on the Wii, except for some of the obvious like The Oracles and Windwaker.
The Three Zelda games I recommend you play first (any of these three) are A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, or Twilight Princess.
after you play just one of those three then I'd say you can go venture off into the other Zelda games.
Varying opinions on the best one aside, Wind Waker is your best bet. It's graphics have aged much better than MM and OoT, plus it's one of the better ones as well.
i want to get into zelda but i don't know which game i should start playing first...
EDIT: The zelda game can be from any console or system EVER, no matter how old. I have my way of getting things
Boostinsane
Start with A Link To The Past on the SNES (don't know how its like on the GBA or virtual console), then go with the 3DS version of Ocarina of Time.
I say you start with the very first if you can bear it. Then go to wind waker, then twilight princess, and then the next one I dunno.
