Gaming PC unless you already spent $2000 on a PC recently is the right answer.
Realistically, I'd spend it on gas.

A pc, not a gaming pc but a pc my families desktop what they use mostly broke down so I'm either going to have to replace it or fix it *believe its the motherboard that has failed* so If I was given 2000 id get a pc but not a gaming pc.
A 2000$ PC is either a cutting edge gaming PC or a workstation. Neither is for family use :|
I know the rest of the money would go for other things at most id go buy a cheap 400 to 600 dollar pc for them and use the rest on gas or xbox live points or something. With $2000 you could definitely get both.A pc, not a gaming pc but a pc my families desktop what they use mostly broke down so I'm either going to have to replace it or fix it *believe its the motherboard that has failed* so If I was given 2000 id get a pc but not a gaming pc.

With $2000 you could definitely get both. damn you and your logic.PC is the only right answer, sorry guys.millerlight89If you read the OP, you'd realize there's no right or wrong answer to this. Oh of course, it's just impossible for someone to prefer a console over PC, right?

PC only truly does EVERYTHING with video and audio entertainment! well except wii/360/ps3 exclusives but without a pc the closest thing ur gonna get to internet browsing is a ps3 and well that isnt very good! and like TC said your stripped of alll your consoles including pc and the only logical answer would be a pc
That's nice, but did you read the OP? He says you lose all your current gaming systems and you can only spend the money on one gaming platform.A pc, not a gaming pc but a pc my families desktop what they use mostly broke down so I'm either going to have to replace it or fix it *believe its the motherboard that has failed* so If I was given 2000 id get a pc but not a gaming pc.

If it was a backwards compatible PS3, then easily that. The insane amount of PSone, PS2 and PS3 games make it the best choice, and there are hundreds of PS2 games I could buy with $1700 extra, along with many fun PS3 games, as well as the ability to enhance the hard drive with a 1tb drive. I could easily buy the top 100 PS2 games cheap and still have extra for the top 100 PSone games and the top 20 or so PS3 if I bought them off Ebay.
If its the normal ones now that only support PS3 and PSone games, then I'd probably choose the PC. The current library isn't as great as the console libraries (no Red Dead Redemption or Dark Souls? Damn!), but it has a great backlog of older games, many having been on consoles at some point. Even if its a game like Manhunt where it might be easier to stick with a controller, I can just, you know, use a controller. Since my dream PC is around $1500 then I'd only be able to buy a few extra modern games anyways, so a giant backlog of older games would be good.
The question seems flawed, TC. For that amount of money you could easily get a 360, a Wii and a PS3 and still have cash to blow. But since you're "forcing" us to choose just one the answer becomes obvious as the PC is the most expensive and most versatile one.
Anyway for gaming purposes I would choose the PS3, 'cause it has the best library this gen (IMO ofc)
I'd build an amazing gaming PC. Why? Because the PC is the ultimate gaming experience.
I already have a nice one, but the new one would be quite a bit better. :P

Sorry, I don't get what I'm scared of... :/
well, of course I would spend a few hundred on a PS3 and then a little bit more to hack it so I could run entirely pirated games on it. that way no developer or publisher would get any money from me AND I could use the rest of the money to go scuba diving.

Why not just rob the scuba store then? No scuba-gear manufacturer or scuba shop should get any money from you, right?

futurama quote lol :/ lookAnd told to buy only one of these, some accessories, and some games, which would you choose? And why?
Gaming PC
Xbox 360
PS3
Wii
EDIT: doesnt matter if you already own them, you have been stripped away from all of these
sucks you could only buy one since with $2000 you could get all of them but if only one I would get a nice gaming pc and have enough left over to buy tons of accessories, games, food, beer take two days off work and enjoy my purchase. :)What about all the poor consolites, who deep down, know they would game on PC, if they could?360 or a PS3 cause i like it, theres nothing else you can really say bout these kind of topics is that everyone will just inevitably pick their preferrred option..

then thats their choice, no point trying to imply that im covering up that i want a gaming PC :P cause i make £120 A week part time for doing 2 shifts i could afford one i just aint that intrested in PC gaming than when i was in high school and on top of that i've got much more going on and need a bass rig way more than another computer.
I'm not going to follow your rules. 1700 put into a solid gaming pc and then buy a PS3 with the rest.
So basically now you have an ipad but not a ps3/xbox 360/wii/gaming computer.id buy top of the line IPAD cuz i want one lol ;)

Angry Birds on iPad ftw? It's just not the same on a non-portable gaming machine :P

Why wouldn't someone pick a console? I know that's what I've been playing video games on for the past 20+ years. I'm not knocking PC gaming I just know that it's not my thing. If I want to go on the internet I'll just plug in the old laptop-problem solved. I don't use the PS3 for the internet nor do I use it for watching movies (isn't that what DVD players are for?) I use it for playing video games. You also said "well except for wii/360/ps3 exclusives..." ding ding ding ding. EXACTLY!;)

Exactly! it's all about choice. If you like gaming on the PC then more power to you (personally, I think I would feel just a tad weird if wasn't playing a video game on a console like I have been for many, many years). Playing "Congo Bongo" or "Summer Games" on the PC way back when was cool for a minute, but then when the Nintendo Entertainment System, Sega Genesis, and Super Nintendo came out I didn't bother with playing anything on PC anymore.
