IGN Assassin's Creed 4: Xbox One vs. PS4 visual comparison

They are virtually identical however the Xbox One has a slightly more vibrant picture. The PS4 compared to the One tends to wash out the image which I can't stand.

The Xbox One has slightly more jags however not enough to me that it spoils the more vibrant colorful picture which is why overall it looks better than the PS4.

for vibrant colors....cant you just adjust the contrast on your TV?

If you didn't know anything about resolution for either platform and just going off of that vid could you honestly say which one is 720 and which one is 1080?

I'm pretty sure that's the case and unless you're blind, you'll notice crispness of 1080p instantly. I didn't even watched the video because IGN has one of the shittiest players you'll find on a site. Its common sense that ps4 version looks significantly better and if you're seriously preferring X1 version because its more colorful then maybe you should do something called increase contrast while playing on ps4 lol.

Well I actually watched the video. I'm neither cow nor a lemming so I have no dog in this fight. AC4 looks slightly, and I do mean slightly, better on PS4. You can only tell the difference in a side by side. I would say they both look the same but I know what 1080p looks like in person. Also PS4 version got slightly more detailed shadows. But there is no ownage here. The people with Xbones aren't getting cheated out of good visuals.

The PS video looks like the color saturation and contrast has been turned down. I have AC4 on PS4, and it looks way better then it does in those videos. I wonder if they downloaded the 1080p patch before they compared them. I know many sites were comparing COD: Ghosts and AC4 a few weeks ago before the 1080p patches were even out.

is there really a difference between the two if the tv is under 40 inches?

the vibrant thing is contrast. just adjust the tv. same was with the ps3 and 360. the 360 always had out of the box good contrast but the ps3 looked washed out. this has nothing to do with graphics adjust the tv colors to ur liking and it will lok the same.

The games look identical to me. I would be happy with either version.

The difference isn't that big tbh .... but I saw the CoD:G comparison and the difference was striking in favor of the PS4 .. strange that nobody posted it.

No, I won't be disappointed if games look similar on both consoles, in fact they should, or why would anyone want a next gen console that can't compete with its competitor.

There are no excuses here, I'm just stating the facts, I've played it on the PS4 and it looks way better then those crappy compressed videos, as for the Xbone I really can't tell you since I haven't played it.

Plus IGN is a joke, I don't know if they captured the video using the same setup on the same computer with the same settings.

BTW, why are you so defensive, I thought the Xbone videos looked good, but I know the PS4 looks even better then the videos, which means the Xbone probably looks better then the videos also.

X1 is 900p and has been confirmed for almost 2 weeks now. PS4 was 900p then updated to 1080p. And I agree, both look identical, with PS4 version looking a little washed out. This has always been the case since the AC comparisons back on X360/PS3. It can't be the contrast or whatever...You guys are basically saying no one knows how to set their TV's properly and mess with contrast, color and gamma in MS favor. Uh-Oh, It's a conspiracy!

You can notice the difference if you watch some better footage, more jaggies and less sharp in the X1 version, thing there were some gifs showing it well. IGN's player is even worse than youtube for it's awful compression.

Ps4 version looks a lot better.

Wtf did IGN do to the PS4 version,with the Color.Sorry but I own the game on PS4,and it looks nothing like that Video.Color wise I mean.

PS4 resolution is clearly better. The difference would be more noticeable on your own TV set.

If these are the kind of differences we'll see this generation and the ps4 is suppose to be a lot more powerful... well the extra features on the X1 make it seem more desirable. This generation will come down to the exclusives for sure

People keep saying they aren't that different but here's the kicker: With Xbox One you're paying more for less.

Wrong, 180 lines difference is not very visible. That means the picture is hardly being upscaled a half inch on your screen. Cows tend to think that ANY lines less than 1080 means the image quality sucks, meanwhile the ps3 had to reduce image quality just to match the 360 native render resolution for many multiplats all generation. The hypocrisy of the cow camp is mind numbing.

Don't be foolish, you're paying more for kinect which is extra hardware. if you paid for the PS4 crappy camera then you'd be paying about the same price but you get less features still since the PS camera is basically crap..

nothing to do with 'cows' i have a rig and knows how it goes in 1080p... Im currently playing (the only game i own ) on PS4 is BF4 which is in 900p and from up close it looks 'sharp enough' but when you're looking at long ranges its as blurry as 720p.

It's really all so trivial. Neither system is being used close to maximum potential.

That said, 900 to 1080p is a real, quantifiable difference that might matter to some ... but if the true HD support had to be released in a patch, then it just goes to show how rough the comparisons we're looking at are.
