IGN - Crackdown 2 Review!

Epic's oft-repeated motto for Gears of War 2 was, "Bigger, better, and more badass." For Ruffian's follow-up to Crackdown, it feels like the motto was, "Don't rock the boat." Here is a sequel that feels near identical to its predecessor in just about every way. The open world action formula is the same. The game's location is the same. The graphics look about the same. And the shortcomings, well they're about the same too.

Is it fun? Yes. That hasn't changed either.

6.0 Presentation
Lacking in story and structure, clunky co-op maps.

6.0 Graphics
Ugly textures and an unsteady framerate. No points for ****

7.0 Sound
I love the Agency overlord voice, but that's about it.

8.0 Gameplay
Yeah, hunting down those orbs is still a lot of fun. The familiarity of everything is a bit disappointing.

8.0 Lasting Appeal
Collecting everything will keep you busy and the co-op game has a lot of room for creating your own fun.

7.5 OVERALL

i dont' care....i've already played the demo 5 times already and i'm still having fun...and that's WITH having to start over every time, lol

Honestly, I would liked to have seen some more polish for the second iteration, but with more of the same, I'll love Crackdown 2 for $20 just as much as the first for $20.

And yeah, it's another flop :P Year of teh flopz confirmed.

Was there an embargo on reviews that lifted just now?

Also when's the review for N3II out... I want to know how extreme it is and whether there are actually one million troops.

wow another FLOP, so 360 is getting a not improved sequel (Crackdown 2) and PS3 is gettting a much better sequel ( Infamous 2). I this game would FLOP

I said I could not see it getting over a 7.0, and there it is. 7.0 is a good game in my book as well, but I will not be going near this one. I merely made that call because I see the appeal it has for others.

And especially because lemmings listed this ps1 game in 360 vs ps3 exclusive fights.

cant wait to read all the "nobody hyped this game" which is sad then cause this whole year so far for exclusive 360 games have been FLOPS. Sorry Mass Effect 2 was on PC, but if thats your only game then sure I'll give it to you. SO i guess 360 fans have to wait til September to finally get a AAA title thats EXCLUSIVE to 360? Im sure REACH will be AAA but WOW had to wait till September...PS3 wins
