I was wondering, since IGN gave SOASE pc goty over Fallout 3, unless, Fallout 3 was incredibly bad on PC, they are basically saying SOASE is a better game.
But it's not nominated for Their GOTY.

Not a bad choice by any means. I wish the weapons had a bit more kick to them though (Sneak 100 and Frag Mines FTW!) and I wish the effects of dealing damage to extremities made more impact both visually and enemy performance-wise. Dealing damage to the arms just doesn't seem to drop their accuracy at all and causing them to drop their weapon only gives a few seconds' worth of free time. Given the condition of their weapon, it's 99% of the time better to just damage their weapon to the point of uselessness to save stimpaks, not that you'll be short of those anyhow. Alternatively, you could also just aim for the head and end a fight as quickly as possible with the least amount of shots used.
That was expected. IGN has been in love with Fallout 3 ever since it was announced. They gave it Game of the Show at E3 and a lot of awards.
I predict the same with Gametrailers and Resident Evil 5. Even if every single other web site flops the game to hell, GT is in love with it and will give every single award and GOTY to RE5. They gave it 2 game of the show awards in a row and so many other awards it doesnt even deserve such as best graphics and best trailer. Its kinda ridiculous.

Well in the insider video which is like a little round table. They do give the game a mention. Saying that it is a great game and if you are interested or havent heard of it you should look it up.
I liked Fallout 3 a bunch at first too. But after having exited the vault, slowly the shoddy writing and annoying NPC's started grating on me. Now whenever I revisit the wasteland I just feel like killing everyone. It does not deserve GOTY awards on the account of its poor writing, character and world realization. The only cool guy in the entire game so far has been Lucas Simms, and that's mostly because of that sweet hat of his.
it would be silly for me to say that fallout 3 didnt deserve it. Just happy that bethseda is getting some goty love. Fallout 3 actually made it in my top 5 games of all time.
Funny how Fallout 3 is on ps3 but didn't win game of the year on the console but it did win the overall. Not that it doesn't diserve it but I think they didn't wan't to become the next Gamespot.
Awesome game. Too bad it was sort of sloppy and unpolished, with animations found last generation. I think care and attention to every technical aspect is what propels a game to the next level. GTA4 and MGS4 do that, Fallout 3 does not.
I wasnt interest in Fallout 3 initially... but now I want to play it so bad. I have $60 store credit at Gamestop, but I'm saving it for Killzone 2. lol.
Doesnt that = GOTY? No game has ever achieved such a score on IGN.

I was kinda surprised... but those are words from a different reviewer though. Who would have thought, a year that IGN crowns two games worthy of 10's and neither one of them get a GOTY. :lol:

Probably not. LittleBigPlanet is fresh as well. They gave two games a 10. I think they honestly picked Fallout 3 by their own merits... not by it's recent release date.
I dont agree, FO3 was ok but IMO MGS4 was better and so was LBP. I liked Dead Space more as well, but Im not a big RPG fan so you have to take that into account.
I like it, but I rushed through the first time, sort of got caught up in the story. Problem is, now I had to do the "give me 2 min to get ready for the fight for the Earth" option, and now I'm off collecting bottles days later. Sort of chokes the rising action, no? I'm going to pace better in my second round...
(Not to say the side missions are bad, they're just sort of interfering with the story is all. Collecting Nuka-Cola will never be as cool as fighting alongside the Brotherhood, sorry.)

i know, its why i hate rpg's in general, why can't they go the way of actual shooters, with the realism in animations and gun play, while keeping it an RPG? why do RPG;s always have this stiff and outdated look to it? (not graphics wise)

It's only really been an issue with Oblivion and Fallout 3, and I guess because the world is quite large, they couldn't make the clip area on the ground work better with the character's animation. Anyway, I think this is definitely my favourite game of last year, and probably of this generation.
Nice. MGS4 is my GOTY, but I can see why IGN gave the award to Fallout 3. Kudos Bethseda. 2008 was just a fantastic year to be a gamer with so many quality titles, and hopefully 2009 will follow the same course.

Other than the fairly large amount of bugs, it totally deserves it. Im addicted to the 360 version. Im actually a wee worried about my 360 since Im pullin' all nighters with it :lol:.
Of course I'd be glad if mgs4 won there too though but they are both Standard setting games in my eyes so game on.
