IGN Grudge Match: Reistance 2 VS Gears of War 2

And the Winner Is...

IGN takes you through the epic battle between GeOW2 and R2. IGN proudly points out that Resistance 2 is the 'better' shooter.

My Take:
1.) WOW! I like both games evenly, but I do admit R2 defitnitely offers more. But they are both the same in terms of quality and fun IMO.

2.) I'm assuming IGN PS3 and IGN 360 areed to crown R2 the winner.

3.) I'm only the messenger, please don't stone me :P. I will give my opinion throughout the thread of course. 

UPDATE 1:

- Gears of War 2 wins SP comparison.
- Resistance 2 wins MP comparison. 

UPDATE 2:

- "Gears of War 2 has the better SP mode, but it is far from the best SP shooter released this year".
- Resistance SP is "repetitive" and lacks a good story telling element.
- Resistance 2 MP is praised like crazy! Gears 2" is not nearly as deep or comprehensive as Resistance 2's".

 OVERALL:

- "If you could only afford to exterminate one alien race this year choose Resistance 2".

Thats pretty cool. Never played R2 or the first never looked like something I would like. Looks stiff. IDK. But I think after a long time of playing CoD4. Gears 2 is a breath of fresh air. It's in Third person with a cover systme witch is pretty different for whats on the market now. And the groe level is great. 60 People on R2 could be fun. But I'm more into the smaller games 3v3,4v4,5v5, and 6v6 are great but 8v8 is pushing it for me. Granted Gears 2 is pretty glitchey and lagey at times. When the game runs lag free it amazing.

Oh and can anyone explain to me why reviewers seem to miss the fact that match making is not to great.

It seems like they don't tell you the faults for some odd reason.

i should try R2 out, only if my blockbuster carried it...

i loved GeOW 2 despite of the laggy multiplayer... and i probably will love R2 cuz i loved the first one

You say they are completely differen't games that should not be compared, yet skeptics have been comparing the two long before either were even released, even in the SW. I think they are very comparable, as both stand as 360's, and PS3's big shooter epics of the holiday season. Both have incredible online features, and amazing graphics. 

Comparing the two is nothing new.

They both offer very similar things in the shooter realm. One just does more than the other in specific areas. This s good copmarison IMO. Now if they compared Fable 2 and LBP I would be like "WTF".

Wow is R2 really that good? Seriously now I'm starting to think I should have bought that over LBP.W1NGMAN-

meh sounds like he choose it outta preference....he prolly just got pissed off at gears long match making process and laggy as S*** matches. I'm personally getting annoyed at how laggy gears 2 is at the moment to and would recomment R2 instead because of it...but instead of playing r2 which i actually dislike i've been playing l4d on pc and track mania nation.LibertySaint

Preference is also something that is hard to avoid these days I admit :P. 

I haven't played R2, but from what I've seen the MP looks better than the SP.

Gears2 SP was a blast. Much better than Gears1. I found the MP however to be boring compared to COD4 and Halo 3.

you really cant go wrong with either of the two

im currently playing resistance 2 and it is A LOT better than the first (i thought the first one was boring as hell)

Gears 2 feels a little bit more of the same, but by no means is that a bad thing, the original gears is still one of my favorite games this gen

When i finished Gears 2 i took 5 minutes to sit, take a deep breath and think about how crazy the experience was

if you really had to pick, just go with w.e your friends are getting, cuz both games rely on its multiplayer
