noted that this game is a spin-off. im still gonna purchase this title as i was very excited for it.
but an actual continuation of lloyd, raine, sheena, and regal's (my favorite symphonia characters) story would have been sublime

Well I'm a bit divided here. Tales of Symphonia was definitely the best RPG of last gen no contest, and to see the best Tales game of the entire franchise (Abyss, Legendia, and Vesperia only wish they were as good as Symphonia) fail in its sequel is a bit disheartening. Ah well, it was probably made specifically for the fans who wanted a sequel so I'll probably be at least renting, if just to see what happens to my favorite female ninja. :Pglitchgeemanalot of tales fans prefer Abyss and Vesperia over Symphonia
I've never understood how Tales games can all be so similar and yet score so differently on average reviews. All the stories are cheesy, melodramatic and extremely convoluted stories involving anime geek-esque universes, and anime cliche characters. The gameplay has largely been the same with legendia being the odd one, and they're ALL linear. As far as I'm concerned, the greatest difference has been voicing the skits or not (maybe that 3D plain thing rivals it). There is WAY too much skit dialogue to just sit and read through. Most are jokes or just a slightly deeper discussion of events that were already discussed, so no voice work makes it a boring read.
The story is convoluted? As if symphonia wasn't? linear? ditto. They changed the world map a tiny bit. Symphonia's world map was from the FFVII era, I'm fine w/ taking something like that out. I can only assume the combat plays a little better from the videos and the 3D plain thing, so I'm not seeing how this game could be worse than symphonia.
[QUOTE="-DarthMaul-"]Yet another game that was good on the Gamecube now have turn bad on the Wii.Shinobishyguy
You act like thats the case for every sequal on the wii.
Last I checked SMG > SMS, SSBB is arguable better than Melee, and Metroid prime 3 is better than metroid prime 2.
To be completely honest: MP1>MP3>>>>>>>MP2
MP2 was soooo boring IMO
