The only people who can't see a marked difference between a BR and regular DvD movie are either using a junk TV or can't afford a BR player and are jealous.dveight88

QFT. The difference is so huge you would have to be blind to not notice it.

Ya, I'll gladly pay the extra 4 bucks for the BR copy. Anybody who can't see the advantage of BR is an utter fanboy to the tenth degree. BR has caught on at twice the rate as DVD did when overcoming the VHS format. The consumer is choosing, even in this economic crisis. Things don't happen overnight. Thats why DVD is still cheaper and winning. People don't all of sudden switch over. It takes time. At the moment it's going quicker then the VHS to DVD transition. Thats not an opinion, thats fact. Look a the sales numbers... Anybody who thinks DVD's upscaled look remotely close to HD needs glasses. You can see the clear difference on a small screen like your computer. Look at the comparisons around the net. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1089714 they compare the Dark Knight BR to the DVD. Don't even pretend there's no difference. Now imagine that difference on a screen 30 inches or more. www.dvdbeaver.com has plenty of comparisons. Obviously some are more drastic then the other. BR allows us to see the films as close to their theatrical presentation then ever before. If you're against that, then you're against the preservation of film in it's best possible way. And if thats your stance, then F you for being against preservation of the arts.

rediculous article, the only good point they have is BLU rays being more expensive, but they'll drop the price soon enough.

Except the market isn't right in this case or alot of other cases, blu-ray is superior, the only thing thing DVD's has over bluray is a large consumer base and better pricing.

the market is always right. period. You can have an opinion, but its adorable that you question the market.

Exactly. How can he say the market is wrong when the market is the people who are buying them?

Quantity of purchases determines what is better? Since when? This theory doesn't work in the car industry, the food industry, and hell people put this theory down daly here in terms of games... so how is it "OK" now to say it for formats?

I can't stand it when people state that upconverted DVDs looks similar or on par with Blu-ray (or HD-DVD). They must have terrible vision, or the world's worst HDTV. I do agree Blu-ray still has an uphill battle, though. The only appreciable difference it offers over DVD is picture quality. BD Live is garbage, and few people have sound systems good enough to even notice the difference in audio formats.DJ_Lae
Well they do. :)
