IGN's #1 Modern Game Of This Gen

I haven't played it; doesn't interest me much. I was surprised that Uncharted 2 wasn't closer to #1, though.

In my opinion, Mass Effect 2 is not even in the top 50.

There are just so many incredible, original modern games that arose with the indie wave.

What about the stellar modern Nintendo clas sics?

What about Mass Effect 1, a game that was arguably superior in gameplay mechanics and depth to its successor?

What about games with infinite replayability (like Oblivion), where you can immerse yourself for literally thousands of hours with all the mods out there?

To call Mass Effect 2 the "finest modern work of this generation" is a complete overstatement.

It's a great game, yes. But the best game? No way in hell.

IGN should be banned from making lists.

I agree completely with their #1 choice, but the list as a whole made me puke. It seems like it's a completely unorginized one. The big one was demons souls at #100. Opinions are opinions, but come the hell on. What happened to Ign? I think it was their 2006, or 2007 list that was amazing. Their 100 greatest games of all time, is the best list I've ever seen. I'm going to look it up.

I guess you have a point, I forgot the list even goes back to games made in 2005.

I still haven't played ME1 yet, you say it its better than 2 guess IGN got the list wrong big time.

Edit: now I'm really not going on. Crysis is number 94 and Angry Birds is 93.

While I understand the admirable aspects of the ME franchise, I still have never understood the level of admiration it gets, especially from IGN.

Angry Birds, Mirror's Edge, Far Cry 2, Borderlands, Shadow Complex, Wii Sports Resort, Tetris are better than Demon's Souls, MGS, Halo 3, Just Cause 2? :lol::lol::lol:

that top 100 list had no criteria whatsoever. What were they going for? they go from deep long lasting RPG to adventure game then casual phone app repeatedly throughout. I'm pretty sure they ordered the first 80 games by picking them out of a hat.

Personally, I think Mass Effect 2 is a mess. It has weak and flawed third person cover controls, almost non existant RPG elements, terrible level design, and a bad plot.

LOL at Arkham Asylum getting outplaced by Uncharted 2! That's just rediculous. Everything that Uncharted 2 does wrong for an action adventure, Arkham Asylum does right.

UC2 in #7? I can live with that. Bioshock #2 ? Love it.

ME2 at number #1? Didn't know IGN was drinking, they should really stop.

So what IGN was basically saying in that video was - "we would have picked Vanquish, but since not many people got a chance to play this incredible epic masterpiece, we have chose the more popular but embarrassingly inferior 3rd person shooter ME2"
