I'm planning on borrowing Uncharted 1, but buying Uncharted 2, and also probably another game, but I don't want it to be a shooter, so Killzone 2 is out of contest as of now...So what should I get? I don't feel much of urge to play Killzone 2, Resistance 1 and 2 and I don't think I'd be that much blown away by MGS 4 either, especially that I'm familiar with the series...What else is left? Demon's Souls, INFAMOUS, Valkyria Chronicles or LittleBigPlanet? Are there any other creatvie, fresh and engaging PS3 exclusives? Now when the PS3 is only one day away, I'm starting to have some doubts whether it won't be too much of the same 360-ish experience.

Buy Tekken 6, not exclusive but the people that play it online are MUCH better (more skilled) than the people on xbox360.
MGS4 is a really solid (no pun intended), even if you don't like shooters it will grow on you (I had only played MGS1 before).
Any Ratchet & Clank game is good too.

I would wholeheartedly agree... plus it has the best use of PSN so far, imo. It's really, really great. Get the collector's, if you can find it... that guide is worth it's weight in gold.

My advice is to get Little Big Planet!!.. seriously if you play it for a year you'll still be saying OMG at some of the levels that people make.. some of them are masterpeices, the game is worth it and with tons of DLC everyweek+ trophies included, best platformer ever! the game will never end for you, there are over 1.9 million levels online

Well if you're looking for creative and fresh, LittleBigPlanet is the obvious choice. Otherwise Demon's Souls and inFamous are by far excellent games (two of my favorite exclusives this gen).

If Infamous and LBP are games that appeal to you avoid Demon's Souls at all cost. The game is annoying and frustrating to the point of being no fun whatsoever. When your character dies which will happen more often than not you get to start the whole level all over again, zero save spots. Darksiders for the PS3 is superior to it's XBOX 360 counterpart and that game is amazing.

Yes, but it's not A) Unique to the PS3, and B) It's far from the best game available on the platform. I loved it too, but Darksiders isn't what I would consider a Day One game.

Here's an idea... Just buy Uncharted 1 and 2 (if that's what you want to do) and then try demos. Seriously. Many of the games (Valkyria) you may be considering are on there. TRY BEFORE YOU BUY!

You'd lose my respect if you didn't play through MGS4. It is still highly regarded and arguably the game of the generation so far. Talk about engaging. It also doesn't make a lot of sense to avoid Killzone 2 ... aren't you at least a bit curious about shooter of the year , probably the very best this gen as well ? Innovative cover system , fatastic weapons , creative multiplayer , great AI , inteNse battles , a beautiful theatre of war !Are you against guns or trying to protect the Halo series ? :P

But seriously though , you'd probably enjoy the fun and inventive weapons, puzzles , and humor of Ratchet and Clank ACiT. That's probably more up your alley.

MGS IV would be my absolute #1 Day One game, but this guy doesn't seem that into it, despite the fact that it's an excellent exclusive which can be found for $20 US dollars atm.

I hated Little Big Planet, but then again, I hate platforming kiddy games, and have absolutely no desire to design them. If you like Platforming, by all means... get it. (Just remember MGS4 is a mere $20.)

Fun is subjective, and varies considerably. This shouldn't be surprising to you. For example, I have an intense hatred for very difficult games, and thus I can see myself having no fun with Demon's Souls if the game is painfully difficult.

Its not "very difficult" though >_> It has its moments but otherwise, eh. It's easy if played in co-op though, very much so. Easy way to offset the difficulty, really. Off topic, you hate difficult games? And I allow you to be in GUFU? :x

It's actually not hard. It's just that people go in a certain rambo mindset, assuming that there sword is infact excalibur which can, and certainly will slay anything in there way.

Each enemy has a certain weapon type which is most effective, and they have certain attack patterns. Once you figure that it, it's not so much hard, but enjoyable.

I know I wanted Uncharted 1 and 2, plus Demon's Souls which sadly isn't available in Europe. I was aware of MGS4, KZ2, LBP, Infamous, VC and R&C, but I also wanted to listen to your opinions.

Perhaps not to you, since user experience in games varies as well. Others have found the game to be painfully difficult, and with that, I am heavily turned off by such a thing. Regardless, I prefer a solid balance in terms of difficulty, not too difficult while at the same time not too easy. I'm not even fond at the idea of playing through a singleplayer game cooperatively my first time through.

I always appreciate comments like these they help validate my statements. I give a rational reason as to why I did not like the game, than someone like yourself comes off like a complete D-bag with your comments and shows my opinion is probably the more valid one.

Maybe not for you in regards to the difficulty being "not that hard", others have differing views including reviewers. You don't think it's hard, that's damn dandy for you. I didn't think Clear Sky was all that difficult, but a few of my buds had a lot of trouble trying to complete that game--that doesn't include the un-welcomed bugs, of course. Regardless, like I said to skittles, user experience varies considerably.

Day one purchase for me, I have spent some time with Demon's Souls and came away utterly dissapointed. I would say if my opinion is so off the mark why question it? I honestly believe if Demon's Souls were multiplat it would have received little to no attention and be dismissed like people here are trying to do with the far superior DARKSIDERS.

That is unfortunate that you weren't able to get into the game, it really is an amazing experience.

To the TC: LBP and DS are your best bets (for non shooters), there really isn't anything out there exactly like them.

That is unfortunate that you weren't able to get into the game, it really is an amazing experience.

To the TC: LBP and DS are your best bets (for non shooters), there really isn't anything out there exactly like them.

I feel the same about DARKSIDERS but some want to dismiss that game as well, it's all personal taste.

I'd be cool with that if your reasoning was better. You said if inFamous and LBP appeal to you, you can't like Demon's Souls. Yet I like all of them. And really, as has been pointed out, Demon's Souls isn't as hard as you seem to be under the impression of.

Erm, first off, I'm far from being a fanboy. A game being exclusive or multiplat means nothing to me. Especially seeing as for the SW GOTY thread only one game I picked was exclusive. That all being said, I own both Demon's Souls and Darksiders. Hell, I've actually even reviewed Darksiders. The only thing Darksiders does better (if you really want to compare an RPG and an action/adventure game) is puzzles. But otherwise, no. Great game, but you're giving it far too much praise.

I feel you're doing the same for Demon's Souls, you see how this debate has turned into a moot point? I do not agree with you and you do not agree with me. I am fine with that, lets move on shall we?

If you are going straight exclusives for this guy how can you leave out Uncharted 1 and 2 or even Killzone 2 for that matter?

Maybe not for you in regards to the difficulty being "not that hard", others have differing views including reviewers. You don't think it's hard, that's damn dandy for you. I didn't think Clear Sky was all that difficult, but a few of my buds had a lot of trouble trying to complete that game--that doesn't include the un-welcomed bugs, of course. Regardless, like I said to skittles, user experience varies considerably.

Stevo_the_gamer

The difficulty is DEFINITELY overstated, and I'm sure the majority of people would agree. I can't stand overly difficult games either (KZ2 on Elite killed me) but Demon's Souls is pretty much perfect when it comes to its difficulty level. I agree that user experience varies greatly, so why not rent it and see how you get on with it? It's the only possible way to be 100% certain, and it's certainly better than being put off just because of a few people saying it's stupidly hard.

I already have it on my Gamefly Q. Though, it's practically at the bottom since there are far more important games out there that deserve my attention.

The game is more frustrating than difficult I found. I game to relax and have some fun. I get an hour into a Demon's Souls level than get taken out by some minor mistatke on my part, and guess what? I get to start the entire level over again as if my past hour was a complete waste of time. I am not sure why defenders of this game keep trying to gloss over the terrible death penalties in this game. The world is colorless and uninspired as well in my opinion, so we have a depressing atmosphere, overly cruel death penalties and an online component that encourages people to come and ruin your experience, have fun for those that love this game but to those thinking about buying it, buyer beware this is not a journey for the average gamer.
