The game is more frustrating than difficult I found. I game to relax and have some fun. I get an hour into a Demon's Souls level than get taken out by some minor mistatke on my part, and guess what? I get to start the entire level over again as if my past hour was a complete waste of time. I am not sure why defenders of this game keep trying to gloss over the terrible death penalties in this game. The world is colorless and uninspired as well in my opinion, so we have a depressing atmosphere, overly cruel death penalties and an online component that encourages people to come and ruin your experience, have fun for those that love this game but to those thinking about buying it, buyer beware this is not a journey for the average gamer.BiggGaming

Yeah, it's definitely not for everyone, but at least you gave it a go.

I haven't found the death penalties to be that bad, myself. If I get to a certain part of a level and then die, 9 times out of 10 I can reclaim my souls fairly easily because I already know where the enemies are and what to expect. The hardest part for me so far was Flamelurker, who I tried to beat at least 15 times before finally killing him. If it was any other game, I would have given up, but it just made me even more determined to kick his ass.

As for the online stuff, I haven't been invaded yet because I'm constantly playing in soul form. I might be brave and try playing in body form soon though, I'm just too afraid of losing :P

I had to take a big risk on this game because it's not out here, so I had no way of returning it if I didn't like it. Soooo glad I got it though.

No game is for everyone, so if you didn't like it, that's fair enough. Can't expect everyone to have the same opinion.

Well honestly I don't know your taste in games so everything I would recommend would be guessing.

I would get uncharted 1 and 2 (they are both increadible IMO), Little Big Planet, R&C, I haven't played infimous or demon souls but they are supposed to be good. I am not really sure why you don't want MGS4 or Killzone 2 but those are both great (MGS4 is one of the best games I have played)

I would maybe rent or borrow Valkyria Chronicles before buying it... i was somewhat underwhelmed by how slow-paced the game is.

But Uncharted 2 is a fantastic purchase. That game has so much "bang for your buck" its not even funny. I've beaten the game and am currently absolutley ENGULFED in the multiplayer. It's a wonderful game.

No idea if you're into sports games......Fifa 10 is brilliant.

MGS4 is a must own. Especially if you've played the other games in the series.

If you got a HDTV, get an HDMI cable, also you should check out the PS3 forums, they have a great recommendation thread there. MGS4 and Uncharted 2 are must haves imo, get a headset too.

you should get the underrated folklore and you can always relay in the rachet series and motorstorm for great fun. Also i you like ninja gaiden then zigma 1 and 2 are great improvements if I say so myself. Other than that you can wait for all the great games comming out this year

LBP is a must, and don't judge the games until you atleast played the demos, but uncharted 2 is one of the top games to get, so start with that

Uncharted 1&2 and MGS4... Best games so far on the PS3 imo

For a shooter I would wait for bad company 2 which will be out soon enough. You will be happy you did wait for it if you have limited funds.

I would not spend $60 on uncharted 2. I would buy uncharted for $20, buy MGS 4 for around $20, and buy dead space or fallout 3 for around $20 as well.

Uh...not to sure. I know someone with no knowledge of MGS and he loved it, but everyone is different. The game is very cutscene heavy but the cutscenes are part of the experience. If you want to learn things about the previous MG games download the MG database from PSN. It has all the information you need.

Probably not. It's a cutscene heavy game with an incredibly convoluted plot and kind of bad action.

Best ps3 games are Infamous, LittleBigPlanet, Warhawk if you like playing online, Uncharted 2 if you want something to impress your friends with, and that's mostly all I can think of. There are lots of good multiplats though. Oh, Demon's Souls too, duh.

Infamous is an awesome game. Buy it. And GoW Collection as well.

I'm planning on borrowing Uncharted 1, but buying Uncharted 2, and also probably another game, but I don't want it to be a shooter, so Killzone 2 is out of contest as of now...So what should I get? LBP is ORSOME! I bet most of ur mates have the other games so get LBP. It's really cool and level creating is the name of the game

i just got a ps3 and i borrowed uncharted and MGS 4 and they bored me outa my mind so just dont be like, o everybody says its good so i will get it. i made the mistake with gta 4 (but i actually somewhat enjoyed it and beat it cause it was quirky as hell but frustrated me so much... i dont think ill ever hate yet enjoy a game at the same time as much as gta4) but get valkyria chronicles, its sometimes clunky and has some flaws, but its a fresh game. havent really played anything like it. PS DO NOT GET A PS3 CONTROLLER!!!!! i got a ps2 controller converter and unless you plan on playing a game with sixaxis, its WAY cheaper :D Also, Marvel vs Cacpcom 2. it is so awesome bionicle_lover

I really liked GTA 4, although I've heard alot of people didn't, and I suspect much of the reason was that the game was too hard for them, sort of like you alluded. To me the game was never too hard even though I had never played any of the other 3D GTA's (didn't own a PS2 or XBOX 1 previous gen.). I remember a couple of the motorcycle chase levels being kinda hard because motor cycles can be a bit difficult to control. GTA 4 was one of the first games I got with my PS3 about a year ago.

Anyways, that GTA 4 comment struck a chord with me because I think I'm starting to understand why many may not have liked it, and it's kind of interesting to me.

Not sure, some of those cutscenes are amazing no matter if you're into MGS or not. I say if you prepare yourself to be able to sit back and expect lengthy cutscenes and you're not on a timer or having anything else to do for a couple of hours, you'll enjoy it.

I find people that rent MGS4 don't like it as much as the people that bought it. Just because of the time limit they're on.
