Seriously, no one seems to care that firefight got axed, and replased by Spec-ops...oh my bad I meant Spartan Ops. Thats an entire game mode lots of people love just gone, and hell, it was the best thing out of ODST! Now we have this 8 gig mandatory install....why? What could they need 8 gigs for? Its ass, thats what it is. I hate the fact that the updates for BF3 takes like 2 gigs just to play the damn thing. So to even just use this out of the box I have to install it? Lets not even forget about alot of the questionable deisgn choices they are making for MP, because lets face it, they are taking HAlo, and mixing some CoD in there...thats not good.

/rant

But really though, I was more hyped for ODST then I am for this. I feel its taking a step backwards from Reach...or maybe a step in the wrong direction, idk thoughts?

I think it's exactly the kick up the arse the series needs.

I love all of the previous Halo but a new direction is sorely needed. I wasn't disappointed with Reach or anything, quite the opposite in fact, but a sequel that barely deviates from that would be pretty destructive to the franchise.

I'm just bored of all these game series continuing. I know they are good, and make money. But didn't we finish the fight? Nope, more Halo. Didn't Kratos kill everything? Yes, but let's look at previous killing! The Gears trilogy was complete and satisfying... but here's more. Snake had his final mission... except for his next one. Meh, just wish talented dev teams would make more new games, once they've made a few sequels. Look at Naughty Dog or Retro, people! Amazing game, make a couple sequels, then move on :)

Just so you know, the 8GB install is only required for multiplayer. Also, you should note that while an optimal experience would see the player install the entire title, this isn't mandatory. To start playing you dont need a install at all. As for why they require it for multiplayer, it has been stated that it is to help with the weekly episodic downloadable content. Yes - the game is getting a lot of post release content for multiplayer, and Spartan Ops is a new to the series experience that is looking forward rather than behind. It's a brave decision on their part, and it's nice to see the developer attempting to make something new and enjoyable for the fans. If you are wanting to keep playing the same thing, stick with the same game.

Im sick of Bungie Halo games, but this one does look different. I believe 343 will do it right, and make the best Halo game since CE.

There is no install. The storage space is needed to cache data just like halo reach.

May as well call it CoDlo. 343 is definitely using that casual trashfest of a game as it's main influence rather than Halo 3/Reach.

Perks/Spec Ops/Loadouts/Forerunner Vision (seeing enemies through walls)/etc. makes me feel like Halo 4 is just CoD in space with high jumps

I don't mind that, from what I've seen so far. I'm not a big CoD player but it's quick and fluid and that could work well within a Halo game.

Stragegy and skill are still going to be the name of the game, but it's just going to be played at a faster pace.

Perks - don't know enough about them to care, yet.

Spec Ops - I like the idea of the episodic content but I can't imagine each individual mission will differ wildly from the last one.

Loadouts - Hopefully they will have a number of dedictaed playlists that play Classic Halo where everyone starts out on an even keel.

Forerunner vision - Stupid name, but I don't think it'll be OP. Apparently the disadvantages of using it balance out the obvious advantages. Then again, I'm one of those people who don't see Armour Lock as a major problem.

It's pretty blatant that they've borrowed a lot from CoD but I don't think it'll be the end of the Halo game as we know. It might just reviatlise the series to it's former glory.

But at the same time, I could totally hate everything new they're implementing and never touch a Halo game again.

I'm sure they wanted to try something new, but the FPS market is just so oversaturated that there isn't much room for innovation, espeically for a game like Halo that goes for mass appeal. They didn't want to make "just another Halo game", but copying CoD, like just about every other FPS dev these days, just seems lazy and uninspired. At least they seemed to keep the health system the same. If they made it a 2-3 bullets for a kill then that would just be absurd.

And perks/loadouts tend to lead to balancing issues, and ofr the most part, previous Halo games have been pretty balanced. I wouldn't want to see Halo turn into a broken ass experience the way CoD is

i like the change

NOW im going miss firefight. it is the only thing missing...

8gig download who cares... that just means more content, faster load speeds, better graphics. I am glad Microsoft is not letting this game and 343 suffer because of dvd limits.

loadouts is not full out like cod. where you get top choose everything. so i am fine. it's giving me little bit option what i want to take to the fight first

whats wrong with halo 4 looks? the

I wouldn't call it lazy and uninspired. They know what works and what sells. MS have pretty much nothing without Halo.

They need to make their flagship game appeal to as many people as possible. Once people have bought an Xbox for that very reason, they can then proceed to gouge them with various unrelated fees and charges such as Gold etc. They need Halo to lure all the potential customers in, otherwise they're dead in the water.

But anyway, I think the series can definitely appeal to multiple markets without feeling too dumbed down, casual or whatever other (anti)buzzword is popular around here nowadays.

Wait, people actually LIKE firefight? It's probably one of the most boring modes I've ever played. If I ever do firefight in reach it's just for daily/weekly challnges. Spartan Ops sounds like it will be similar to firefight; fighting off enemies from the campaign and all, with the added bonus of every playthrough being different since its episodic and goes through seasons and what not.

Basically spartan ops sounds like it will be similar to firefight, but might actually be fun and engaging.

as for the 8gb install part, I don't really care as I've bought a hard drive a while ago. I'm sure 343 has a reason for it, too. I don't think it's something they'd do just for sh*ts and giggles, but I dunno.

There is no worse a quality in gamers these days then crying about games that they haven't even played yet. At least give it five minutes of controller-in-your-hands before you have a rant about how terrible it is.

Well according to the people that played it (IGN), they say it plays very similar to COD now. But we don't know for certain what it's like, none of us have played it ourselves yet. Maybe they might release a beta for it like they did with Reach?

I just hope the campaign isn't garbage like Reach and Halo 3 were, hopefully 343 will make it better. But I don't care if it's more like COD, I like COD, in fact I like it more than Halo, so it's a good thing if it's more like it to me.

The only thing I'm worried about is the multiplayer. It looks good but I'm still not sold on some of the new mechanics so I'll wait to play it before I judge. And yeah, f*ck 343i for getting rid of Firefight.

Did they confirm it was removed? I'm fine with mission based co-op, but Firefight was fun. I mean, the campaign is already 4 player co-op, so I don't see the need for a separate set of co-op missions. I'm fine with it, but not if it replaces Firefight.

i agree, granted I think they took a step back with reach, the added armor abilities are... crap when looking at it from a competitive standpoint.

edit: I don't think needing 8gb is a step back, i think its consoels just showing their age finally, for w/e either they can't fit everythign on the disk and it needs to be downloaded or they need the disk for increased bandwidth

edit2: Yah it just became immediatly apparent 8gb is probably a lot of compressed data on a disc that 6.7gb

edit 3: so looking more into the MP, perks eeww, and ranomized weapon spawn (luck > map control) **** this game

It looks like it will be the best Halo yet. The campaign looks interesting, spartan ops sounds way more fun than firefight and I liked Reach mp alot more than 3 so I'm glad they're not going back to that.

So by your logic, that would be like Rockstar saying, guys in our next GTA we are cutting out free-raom in the city and, your just gonna have to trust us on this.. You'd just say wait and play it? That aweful logic, GTA is all about an open world. If there is something people dont like there going to comment on. Thats lke saying don't judge the next CoD yet, you havent played. When we know enough info to be like, hey this and this sounds cool , but this and this looks to suck. Idk what the 8 gig install has, but, is it really nessesary? Just put Spartan ops on another disk. Is cutting out Firefight nessescary? IS the CoDifaction of the MP really what we want to see in Halo?

Simply put I say no, and at this point I'm not as excited as I was for ODST or reach, or any of the others. Every new thing I hear about this and it just gets worse and worse. I eally hope I get proven wrong and its the best one, I really do. This is my favortie franchise and I would rather not see it die.

1. firefight was awful (as are most horde modes) 2. Reaches MP is the worst seen in the halo franchise and halo 4 is looking better (but still not as good as 1-3) 3. Halo 4 sp is looking better than 3 and reach, step FORWARD!

Yeah but when we get them every year or two years it gets boring imo. I'm glad we are playing the Uncharted trilogy and soon the Last of Us, rather then Jak 7 and Crash Bandicoot 11, if that makes sense?

I'm just bored of all these game series continuing. I know they are good, and make money. But didn't we finish the fight? Nope, more Halo. Didn't Kratos kill everything? Yes, but let's look at previous killing! The Gears trilogy was complete and satisfying... but here's more. Snake had his final mission... except for his next one. Meh, just wish talented dev teams would make more new games, once they've made a few sequels. Look at Naughty Dog or Retro, people! Amazing game, make a couple sequels, then move on :)locopatho
Video games are still a business, and a company isn't going to drop a lucrative franchise because of the plot.

It'd be like Ford saying "Wow we sold record numbers of the explorer this quarter, let's get rid of it and make an untested product!"

doesn't make sense.

Halo anything is a step backwards. =PAllicrombie
1 and 2 were extremely innovative.

3 not as much, it had a few interesting things, but the main thing was that it was very well balanced and fun.

Halo reach was garbage, no balance, nothing innovative.

Hope They learned their lesson.

Halo was becoming stale. As much as I liked Reach, I couldn't help but notice that the series is refusing to grow with the times. Halo 4 is taking the exact direction it should. It's going to be a great game.

I know. I just get bored of endless sequels and would like more new IPs :)

Nope, it's exactly the kind of sequel Halo needed.

Requiring a Hard Drive =/= mandatory install. No Xbox 360 game in existence requires a mandatory install.

Spartan ops is more original than firefight.

It's not copying COD, it's still quite halo. And COD ripped off HALO more time than I can remember.

It's still one of the most content-filled games money can buy.
