Bungie knew the bad rep and what they were in for, but so far the bad rep hasn't affected ACTI.

We'll have to see how it plays out, hopefully I won't be boycotting ACTI when that game comes out, but If I still am, I will buy their game used.

It's a next Gen title from what I understand.

Keep in mind that Blizzard's games are also published by Activision. Their quality hasn't declined at all.

Bungie doesn't belong to Activision, they're just partners and are still independent

how many games have been released by blizzard since the merger? and how many of those games were pretty much done since before the merger? there hasn't been enough released to tell a difference in quality.

If Activision ****s with Bungie in anyway, they should know that I will do terrible, terrible things to Kotick, and I'm not kidding.:| I don't think they will though, the contract apparently stated that Activision has publishing rights and only the publishing rights, they don't even own the IP.

Infinity ward was constrained because the studio is owned by Activision, but i think that the contract between Bungie and Activision is for 10 years of developement rights only, so they won't be affected in the same way.

Blizzard's parent company has majority control over Activision. It is just for the Merger Vivendi gets all the control but they had to put Activision's CEO in charge of ActivisionBLIZZARD.

well, from what i remember when bungie signed with acti they signed a very involved contract that basically takes almost all of the power away from acti for creative controll of whatever bungie is working on

Activision doesn't own Bungie and are not allowed to meddle with their work. As stated by Bungie themselves...they basically told them to stay out of their way.

blizz have definitely changed with SC2...

with their premium map download charges and only releasing 1/3rd of the campaign at launch with plans to milk more money later.

Bungie will goto hell too. Activision ruins everything.

They're only publishing Bungie's games - Bungie are still an independent studio. And I for one cannot wait for their next IP - although Reach needs to hurry up first :'(

WOTLK was a big disappointment and SC2 despite being great has the problem of the new Bnet being a step backward of the original Bnet.

i dunno what they always planned. But some googling reveals approx 3 months after the merger is when they announced the 3 part release plans. A timeline which coincides perfectly with activision giving them some money milking advice.

my main beef with the campaign is the way they released the campaign... forcing you to play online if you want to experience 2/3 of the game.

My problem with it is it just cuts off without a good cliffhanger...and what seems to be a rushed story. Polished? Yes. But the SP was crap compared to what they could've done. Yeah, I'll get flamed for my opinion, but I'm in it for the story and experience, not the multiplayer.

Bungie has already joined/worked heavily with Microsoft so....you're afraid of them with Activision?

While Microsoft isn't the best publisher to back your stuff, I too fear for Bungie. They might not have a problem if they can establish boundaries and if their games don't get as insanely popular as CoD, but otherwise if they try and branch off we might be looking at another West/Zampella issue, but with the Bungie staff.

The main problem of the campaign is that it was more filler than a relevant plot. I wonder if that will happen to Bungie too in their next game, more pointless filler.

Bungie has a plan for world domination (Bungie's words, not mine).

What better way to do that then by joining the largest 3rd party publisher?

I think Bungie made the right choice.

MS is actually pretty tame on bungie... considering they owned the studio outright... i mean hell, they let bungie go when they didnt have to... could have forced them to make new halos forever.

Activision on the other hand would rather run infinity ward into the ground than let them go.

Would be funny (although sad obviously) if Bungie ended up migrating to 343 if Activision start playing up.

Dont be Bungie got like the best deal ever signing with Activision. Basically all activision gets to do is publish their games and nothing else. They wont have any control over the games or dlc pricing etc.

I was worried about this too because it seemed like the sheets were still warm from their relations with Microsoft and here they are jumping into bed with Activision... only time will tell if this decision on bungie's part is a truly good one...

Blizz split the campaign because it would take too long to release the game with all 3 with the depth they put into it.

WoW wasn't out of the normal when it launch even though it was probably the most expensive mmorpg to launch at the time. WC3 wasn't out of the norm, Diablo 2 wasn't out of the norm.
