Well, shallow videogames anyway. And you can forget single player games unless its a sports game or has high production value or a cinematic feel. I can't help this disinterest in shallow, simple games. My friend actually has a wii and has that rayman raving rabbids game and it wasn't fun to me. I played warioware, and it wasn't fun. And not just to knock on wii, I got the spiderman 3 game. It was a chore to play although I really wanted to enjoy it. Fun is a subjective word, and a lot of titles that are out now just aren't...fun. I've become primarily a multiplayer gamer, and the only games I anticipate in the future are games like halo 3, RE5, Forza, CnC3, Mass Effect, etc. I want a game that puts me in a role that makes me feel like I'm doing something epic or at least profound in some way. Is this an age thing or am I turning into "teh elite gamer". Somebody help cure me.

To me this is what one gets for just playing certain games, why don't you play games with value such as Okami, MGS, SOTC,  DMC or NG and find some ''niche'' games to spend a while like to me are GTA and GH.

I only play good games and mostly ones that are original like SOTC, GoW and Okami, don't have time for average trash like Spiderman or anyhting that's generic(sports games, JRPG's). THe MGS's the FF's and Zelda's i will still play, along with Ninja Gaiden and maybe Halo.

I don't know. I have tried DMC and NG. I beat them both and will play their sequels. But its weird man. Its like losing interest in sex. I used to love videogames but yeah they don't all satisfy me anymore. I need to be in roles that engross me in the world of the game. Is this just an age thing? I'm 23 and I once swore I wouldn't quit gaming till I got arthritis or until I sucked at it.

Welcome to the current generation of being a hardcore gamer. Developers realize a while ago that there's no substitute for the human component of gaming. What draws us to these forums? What draws us to compete in online games? It's ultimately the human interaction.

I know the Wii owners want to argue that "I can invite a bunch of friends over and play a game" - but it's not the same thing, at all. I meet new people, people who challenge how I think, or are a more challenging player *for me* - When you build your friends list on LIVE or PSN with gamers who share your taste in games, well, there's always a group to game with. I have friends from my real life there, and I have friends whom I've only met online - but they're just people I can game with, around the world, anytime.

It's really a cool experience - I like playing against a human opponent a lot more than a machine.

What you're not getting is a good storyline in most of these games. Try playing a game where there is no multiplayer at all, but has a great story and is a good all round game, like okami for example.

Sometimes, I find myself getting bored with photo-realistic games, old games are still great fun to play, try getting yourself an emulator. I still play Chrono trigger on my snes emulator, have completed it many times, it's great to play.

Well you're not losing intrest in video games because you're still into multiplayer games right?.. You're just losing intrest in the Wii mini games and thats very understandable.. Wii is infested with mini games, stick with the xbox 360 for now and maybe PS3 later on.

PC games are pretty much made of depth.

yeah, the games you talk about are almost non existent on the PC. It offers more bang for you gaming dollar too with customiation, simple things like a flashlight mod for Doom 3 to big things like insects infestion (mod for Hl2) an insect team based mod, running around sandcastles. If you are more intertested in depth, the PC is the way to go.

EDIT: You mention that you only play MP games now. On that front the PC is unmatched aswell.

You need to play some crap games for extended amounts of time. Getting used to them will make you crave any better games, which will probably make you appreciate the variation in game quality a lot more. Epic games like Halo or Metal Gear Solid or Half-Life are few and far between - you therefore need to start appreciating the lesser titles in the world to fill in the gaps you've made for yourself.

Says you. PC has as many generic games as consoles, the only difference is the audience, PC gamers tend to buy interesting games over that as opposite to consoles where many games that shouldn't sell as well as they do, sell.

Im not saying the PC has no generic games, however the cosnole market has a lot more. What you say is still correct to a degree and as a result of that the PC market have games and genres which you don't see on consoles becuase the console market dosen't demand them, like sims (Armed Assault, tank sims, flight sims etc.) and the puzzle genre.

EDIT: Another genre to add to that list is the adventure genre.

But the problem with pc games for me is I don't have a good pc and don't have a fortune to spend. If I could get a good pc that would be technically relevant for 5 plus years I'd do it. But that's a tall order. Besides I still like games like madden and gears which either haven't been announced or just aren't the same on pc.

I just dont like the puzzles in that one. They did a bad job making them interesting. In Riven, you were rescuing a civilation. In Revelation, you saved the monkeys from the dinosaur thing and other boring things like that. But puzzles aside, its pretty cool.

you can get a great PC for 600 dollars that will kill a console. its hard and takes some solid research, but its possible.

I kinda feel the same, I get bored of some games really fast lately. Like I've tried Ninja Gaiden and although it looks nice and plays nice, it doesn't keep me interested. I don't want to hack and slash through hundreds of enemies over and over and over again. Same with shooters, shooting every 2 seconds is boring to me. I understand that some people get some adrenaline rush from these type of games but they just don't do it for me anymore. They feel like some bad and shallow eighties action movie to me. Lately I love to play games that have an involving storyline, or games that are original or unique. I really enjoy games like Silent Hill, ICO, Final Fantasy, Zelda, Shadow of the Colossus, Tomb Raider Legend. or of course the ocassional puzzle or racing game, they are always fun to play.

You dont need a new PC to enjoy PC gaming, check out the oldies. Half-Life, UT, Starcraft, Fallout, Baldurs gate 2, Myth, Tribes (which is a free download now), Warcraft 3, Red Alert 2 etc.

Plus some Madden games come on the PC and Gears is coming to the PC, its been announced.

This should help you.

"The copy of Riven that you received can sometimes have issues with XP. This can be solved 100% of the time by changing the Riven executable to run in compatibility mode. To set compatibility mode do the following:

1. Navigate to the main game directory (where the game was installed).
2. Find the main game executable file (ending in .exe if you have extentions turned on) and right click on it.
3. Choose "Properties" and then click on "Compatibility". Check the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" box,
then select Windows 98/ME and click Apply.
4. Run Riven "

Myst worked fine for me... you may wanna try the same thing. Any other problems, go to google and search "ubisoft support," go to their main website, go to "search the knowledge base" and its gold from there.

I do have a distaste for what the wii represents, but that's not what this thread is about. My whole problem with videogames these days can be compared to television. I can't watch sitcoms. I can't watch anything on tv really unless its 24 or sports. But I LOVE movies, because they have more substance. Same with videogames. No substance, or too simple, and I can't stay engaged.

Thanks, I'll be doing that now. :)

ITS GONNA HAPPEN!! sooner or later you grown old of it. it just doesn't fit your life style.

Somebody help cure me.shsonline

I've already lost my interest in gaming. PC, 360 and ps3 offer nothing new, and wii's graphics and horrible online setup are just too much for me to take. Out of all the generations of gaming I've been a part of, this one by far is the most pathetic one IMO.

You're probably starting to notice that most games are the same and revolve around simply shooting stuff.

Simple solution; play the games that rely on creativity. Get a nintendo console....where gameplay is king.

I only play good games and mostly ones that are original like SOTC, GoW and Okami, don't have time for average trash like Spiderman or anyhting that's generic(sports games, JRPG's). THe MGS's the FF's and Zelda's i will still play, along with Ninja Gaiden and maybe Halo.Riviera_Phantom

The only thing that interests me on a Nintendo console these days is Mario. Shooting things is fine, since most games have shooting in one form or another, whether its mushrooms or fireballs or slingshots or guns. Creative is fine, but not if its just a shallow game with no soul.
