I'm really friggin happy Crysis and Far Cry 2 are PC exclusives

Since theres no xbox360 or ps3 version to develop for theres no chance of either of these games being dumbed down graphically or gameplay wise. Look at what happened with Bioshock, even though it looks great the textures are extremely low res up close and the character models are blocky. Modern PCs are capable of far more but it was held back by the 360 version.

Thank God Ubi and Crytek have made the right choices here to not have to water down their games.

And I think Crytek wasn't too happy with Ubisoft's console ports. Probably why they just gave them the Far Cry name to work with (FC2 is looking extremely cool, btw). So I don't think we'd see Crysis on consoles unless Crytek worked on doing the ports themselves, and I don't think they'd bother with that when they can just be working on their next big project instead.

Actually far cry on the xbox was a much different game.

Also you are far underestimating modern high end computer hardware. A computer with an 8800gtx dual core processor and 2gb of ram is rought 2.5times as powerful as an xbox360. I game that would bring an 8800gtx to it's knees just won't run on a 360 without being completely remade.

It'd be a completely different game, you'd need to scale down the visuals (to Dx9 at least), scale down the scope of gameplay (consoles don't have as much RAM). In the end, you'd just get a game made by Ubisoft called Crysis: Something instead of the real thing.

Having PC exclusives is nice, because there are no issues with porting one way or another, games like Lost Planet were terrible on PC and poorly optimized, same with Oblivion (though it ran fine, if it was made entirely on PC, many issues could have been fixed without mods, but at least they were fixed).

Crysis will be the first fully PC made major title in a long time, I mean like, sure you have a lot of awesome looking PC exclusives but few are as big as Crysis.

And honestly other than a few select Megaton FPS each year I dont see much going for PC gaming, cause If Hell gate Lond on is like Oblivion I wouldnt like it much either, amazing game from what my friends tell me but I didnt like the combat

Crytek has said before that they wouldn't port the game to consoles if the same quality bar couldn't be reached(it cant because of the memory issue as stated before). So no port from Crysis, Ubisoft on the other hand said they would be keeping it on the PC only, so you can only wish that ubisoft is lying.

Hellgate's nothing like Oblivion. It's like a next-gen Diablo with some FPS elements, and also much deeper.

It doesn't stop you from buying a new PC though. You have the possibility of getting games that are spin offs or set in the same universe as Crysis and Far Cry. That isn't getting an exclusive.

And there's plenty going for PC gaming, it's still got it's streak as the system with the most AAA/AA exclusives. With Hellgate London, Dragon Age, Starcraft 2, Spore, a new Total War game and a large percentage of all the big console hits, it's very healthy at the moment.

I dont like RTS unless they have Pikmin in the name and that seems to be half of PC's market I dont know anything about dragon age

And I'm sorry you don't like RTS unless their Pikmin, I really feel your missing out on some great games. That said, a lot of other people do enjoy them, and only one of the game I mentioned there is an RTS, so there is variety.

As I said, Ubisoft can do what they want. It's irrelevant. Fact is, Crytek aren't going to port Crysis as is. If Ubisoft do, super. It won't be the same game however, and it won't even be by the same developer, so I can't see how you feel your getting an experience comparable enough to save you buying a PC.

Any piece of hardware that has games as impressive as PGR4, GT5, MGS4, Halo 3, Killzone 2 Unreal Tournament 3 etc etc - well, we won't have to worry about the consoles "limiting" gameplay for awhile :).

Sure, Crysis looks awesome - and I'll be playing it on my PC, but it still doesn't make the top-tier games like UT3 look bad. Actually, in certain ways I'd consider UT3 to be just as impressive.

Its quite simple, the engine which powers Farcry instincts is Cryengine1 owned by Crytek, while the game was made by UBIsoft.

Its no different than looking on the back of the Bioshock box and seeing "Powered by Unreal Technology" and "Havok" does this mean Epic and Havok made the game? No its means they use their technology and HAVE to show that due to copyright.

Ok Crytek got to have their logo on the front of the box instead of the back, but that doesn't change the fact they didn't make the console versions, their engine just powers the game.

Actualy we do. Gameplay will always be limited because of consoles. Simply put there's no way consoles can handle the speed of FPS gaming that PC can. That's why all those multiplatform FPSes when played on PC seem very slow. And yeah...all those games are impressive, but Pc can do more. Especialy texture-wise.

people act like if memory is the only issue... LOL- crysis also needs a real cpu. the 360 cpu is slower than a old p4 it just cant compete against a core 2 duo. not a chance in hell.
