There's no way after watching that video, ANYbody can defend Wii Music.

I can deal with Wii Sports.
I have a Wii and I actually found it pretty fun for 10-15 minutes. I beat all the Baseball stuff then didn't really touch it again, but I can understand Nintendo's vision. Get more people in the younger + older demographic, it has an easy control scheme and it's fun for adults who have ADD or are just too busy to sit down for hours like the rest of us, or are just looking for a quick fun time, that's fine.

I can deal with Wii Resort, that's basically an expansion of Wii Sports, I'm disappointed that these 2 games will sell more then something like MGS4, or Okami, or Warhawk, but whatever it is what it is.

But Wii Music is bordering into insanity.

I was honestly offended after watching the video. This game turns the piano into a Ravi Drums impersonation. I play the piano and there's no way this game can even come close to matching the joy (and frustration) of learning a song on your own and finally nailing it after months of practice and dedication. I feel like Nintendo is slapping the face of people and acting like every person has an IQ of 10.

Obviously there's a lot of Wii Music hate, but atleast I explained my reasoning, anybody elses opinions?

Did you really think it was a game intended to do that in the first place?

Really?

Then what does that make Guitar Hero and Rock Band? :o

They're the same concept if you ask me, one just has a scoring system.

okay fair enough but you should make a thread bashing guitar hero and rock band before you bother to thrash WiiMusic. Wiimusic is arguably a lot more involving than those games. I will wait for previews and reviews before i decide on it, and just because a game looks stupid doesn't mean you can't have a good time with it.

Also, I will not go out and buy a game like this if the reviews are amazing. I will have to rent it first

And yet i am defending it. Wanna know why? Because here is what is gonna happen: A little ten year old non gamer is gonna go to gamestop. His dad only lets him play rated E games. He sees wii music. He buys it for the ten yearold gamer. And like that, all over the world it will sell.

don't even say anything.

I just don't see how your supposed to play any song accurately or have any feeling that your the one actually playing it.

I agree 100%. I was watching e3 and then my mom decided to watch a bit of it since i was watching it. She saw Wii Music and said, "Are you only supposed to just press random buttons? Isn't there some sort of goal here?" i said that it's a really simple game for people new to video games to get used to and she told me, "People who don't play video games are just inexperienced, not stupid." So i guess casuals are thinking the same thing.

Not really. Rock Band/GH are waaaay better than this trash...

Though an "insult to human intelligence" is a little harsh. It's just Nintendo making a poor effort to tap into the music industry.

From what I saw at E3 it looks like the notes will come out reguardless of what button you press so losing is impossible unlike GH and RB.

According to an IGN preview there is no skill involved. It's just you wave the wiimote/press buttons at random while listening to classic nintendo tunes. I can do the same thing with SSBB but worse since they probably won't put Earthbound songs into Wiimusic.

what i dont get from that video is how the girl is playing the piano. Is it strickly a rhythm thing? I can't imagine those movements matching up with that screen as any kind of simulation of actually playing. Drums might be alright

Just to reiterate, how are they so different?

One requires you to press one button and wave your arms around like a moron.

And the other requires you to press five buttons and/or wave your arms around like a moron that has a scoring system.

Both of them are pretty lame compared to, you know, actually playing an instrument. And don't say "But instruments are too expensive!" Because they really aren't nowadays... I bought my first guitar for about 120 and my first bass for about 100. :?

I did too. So you just pick a theme or a song and then whatever you do you just play that song and you can't screw it up even if you try? That' is very VERY stupid. :( I actually wanted Wii music because moms says I need to learn how to play something and I was thinking Wii music could teach me what they each felt like...

The only time it makes different notes is when you are playing drumming mode. But you need the wii balance board for that.

You know, if this was a wiiware game for like 10-15$ i would think its worth it. But 50$ is just too much.

I'm a fan too, but this "game" is just trash! I've said it before, if it were a $5-10 download off Wiiware then, okay, I could see it, but full price? Especially since Guitar Hero WT will basically have something that does exactly the same thing and it's a BONUS FEATURE!?!? TRASH.

But really, how far can it go? Wiiplay's presumably done so well because it's gotten alot of second-Wiimote buyers (10 bucks extra for a few more minigames? Sure), and while not really a game, Wii Fit is aiming at a "healthy living" market (or potential market). What kind of purpose Wii Music is gonna serve, I couldn't begin to imagine.

When were games mindless? You at least have to do some thinking when playing a game. Even the Mario and Zelda games required some thinking to get through the games. Wii Music is not a game.

The worst part is that Nintendo will force Wii owners to buy it! In fact, they will force 360 and PS3 owners to buy a Wii and get Wii Music! OMG CONSPIRACY!

Seriously, I don't like the game but, as a musician, I am extremely interested in how it may help homebrew tech wizards to find a way to track drums on a MIDI sequencer using the Wii board and the Wiimote + nunchuck, connected to a PC via Bluetooth. Programming drums is the most annoying task ever. If they manage to find a way to do what I think can be done, I'll get a damn Wii board.

Not sure I never got Wiiplay. My son wants it but I alreay have enoght controllers. Because of my love for DDR and upcoming games using the board I would like to get Wiifit. The Wiisports 2 looks good with the 1:1 motion and with the same team behind waveracer.

I agree..I don't plan to buy the game but I don't see why all the hate. If there are people out there who want this game, then I say what the heck make it for them.

Games are toys. Nintendo is just the only company that remembers what games should be about: simple, mindless, fun.

When were games mindless? You at least have to do some thinking when playing a game. Even the Mario and Zelda games required some thinking to get through the games. Wii Music is not a game.

Mario and Zelda are an example of OLD gaming. Nintendo has realized this, and thats why they're moving away from tedious, overly complicacted gameplay.

Wii music is not a game, its a toy that should sell at Toys R US with those other kiddie toys.

It is a nice toy that kids who cannot play GH/Rock Band will like. Nintendo knows what they are doing.
