[QUOTE="purplemidgets"][QUOTE="vidiofreak"]Im confused... Why cant Call of Duty 2 and Condemned count? Both had really good reviews on the 360, and both were really good games. Just because it was on the PC doesnt mean it shouldnt be counted.Mancow_wrestler

Oh, so now when we're talking about the 360 games that are multiplatform are a-ok. Well then, the PS3 has COD3, and all those sports games that are multiplatform. They're still good games even though they're also on the 360.

No, onto your question "Why a year" Because generally speaking, it takes a year for a console to become really worth the price of admission. I waited one year to buy my 360 because that's how long it took to stockpile good games. A year from now the PS3 will have plenty of games worth playing,

Who's saying that cod3 for the ps3 didnt count? Cod3 for the ps3 didnt look as good, had frame rate problems *minor ones though* and some other real small problems... I dont know anyone saying cod3 for the ps3 didnt count though.

Exactly. I'm just using this one example for launch games. But madden 06 for the 360 looked better than Madden 07 for the PS3. Madden 06 was reviewed alot lower due to its extreme lack of options. But im just using this as an example. Call of duty 2 for 360 and call of duty 3 for the ps3 is another example.

PS3 probably had a better launch than the 360's (coming from 360 owner) I mean they didn't have many not next gen looking games at launch. Take NBA live 06, THAW, NHL 2k6, Quake 4, NBA 2k6, FIFA 06 GUN, Collage Hoops 2k6, While Madden 06 looked good it had missed so many game modes. Same as all of the other sports games. PS3 had a lot of good looking Multi-plats games that were Ports of the nearly full 360 verisons. StarFoxCOM

[QUOTE="akatsuki0wn3d"]amazing off the back? wrong, I had a 360 at launch dont even say that lie. everyone was playing COD2 veteran because they were bored, noone liked PDZ because of the learning it involved, Kameo was liked but short, and that was it. there was a long gap of no 360 games.

Condemned alone was amazing, PGR3 was great, Geometry Wars was sweet, I still play Zuma and Hexic...and I recall no one liking PDZ because it straight up sucked, not because it was difficult or had a steep learning curve. DOA4 came out in December (and scored higher than VF5, BTW) and the next big game to come out was Fight Night in February. GRAW and Oblivion came out in March. "Amazing" is a big word and I'm not trying to argue your opinion. Your facts are just wrong. Just saying.

When the Xbox 360 launched, I didn't think "wait a year" because I didn't think they would actually have interesting games in a year, judging from the launch lineup. It's blown away my expectations, but I think I missed the purchase window. There was nothing even remotely interesting to a PC owner when the Xbox 360 launched. My PC is a pile...it still is running AGP, but Half Life 2 and Counter Strike convinced me there was nothing worth the $400 the 360 would cost me. Now, things have changed. There's a great outlook. The Xbox 360 has a case. But too late for me. All three consoles had embarrassing software lineups. At least Zelda and Resistance trump Call of duty 2.

Resistance was the game that was supposed to get everyone to buy a PS3, and was the only game for PS3 at launch. Call of Duty 2 was just one of many games on the 360 at launch that was great. So Resistance and Zelda might be better than Call of Duty 2. But all together, the 360 launch was so much better.

Good point...  The 360 had a bunch of great software from the start with a steady flow of great titles... I'm not seeing that with the wii/PS3.. atleast now (3 months later..)  Maybe by the summer...

I'm shocked to see people say the Xbox360 launch was good and the PS3 is not. What are you guys basing this on? If you going to count the AA games at launch great, then wouldn't it be fair to count the AA games at PS3 launch? during the launch you guys only had 1 AAA and 1 AA over the PS3 launch. So this is going totally off opinions of lemming logic, or you guys don't know the facts on how we grade in SW.

[QUOTE="vidiofreak"][QUOTE="wmc540"][QUOTE="sonicare"]I wouldn't say the 360 was amazing from the start. It had better launch titles than the ps3, but it wasn't spectacular.HuhJustaBox

But we didn't have to wait a year.

Exactly. But my question is. Why a year? Whats coming out in a year that will change everything. Now, mind you, the only reason I'm getting a PS3 is for MGS4. But other than Metal Gear, what else is there? I havnt really payed attention to any games for sony. All I care about is MGS.

To anyone that claims the 360 did not have to wait? WTF? The only game that everyone talked about was COD2--which is just another WWII FPS (personally I grew tired of that genre after Medal of Honor Frontlines). The other two that were decent was Kameo--which was way to short to warrant a puchase, and PDZ--which was decent but way overrated IMO.

Yes the 360 had to wait just like the PS3, PS2, Gamecube, Xbox, PSone, etc. All systems start slow with a few games here and there and by its year anniversary they really start to take off.

Look at the 360--you had to wait until March to get two games that were IMO the first ones that were actually must buys. Which was GRAW and Oblivion. Then months and months went by with nothing. Then in early fall they started picking up some decent games--late fall we finally started getting some really good games-Geow, Rainbow six, Fear, etc.

Now lets look at PS3--a few decent games at launch (Resitance was superb, but I think all in all 360 had a slightly better launch with a little more of variety), now VF came out, and in March we are getting Motorstorm, Oblivion, Rainbow Six, Fear, etc. Then look at the games coming out down the line--Lair, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, MGS, DMC, etc.

You must wait at least a year to gauge a system. Anyone bashing the PS3 for lack of good games will be looking awfully foolish this Fall. Then what will they find to hate about it....but but but months and months ago there were not many games. Give me a break!

Warhack???? They discontinued that game already.

Once again, ..........? Have you played kameo? zoom in on the textures and such. Yes the game isnt graphically insane. But the textures and scenory is incredible. And well, Call of Duty 2 speaks for itself.

Does anyone remember the first videos of resistance? It looked incredible. Why did they have to change the graphics to a more cartoony look. Im not saying the game looks cartoony, but it doesnt look as good as the E3 showings.

Please don't use rumors and speculation as fact.  This game has not been discontinued and is scheduled for a June release according to IGN.

the 360 launch, while not all that spectacular, had a good mix of games and online. after game came some nice big titles that helped it along. So pretty soon after launch, you had an rpg, racers, couple of shooters, and an action adventure game

ps3 launched with a high price point, same time with the Wii and an already estabalished console, with a pretty weak launch lineup i think. so it had some pretty stiff competition.

now though, it also seems like many ps3 titles are being pushed back (mgs, ff13 etc etc) and ports of old 360 games have yet to even arrive, sort of caught in a bad situation i believe

Consider this. Prior to the 360 launch, I was interested. Real interested. And I had friends trying to get me to buy one. But when I met the Xbox 360 at a Gamestop following launch, I chuckled and moved on. But when the PS3 launched, I bit the bullet and got it. I wasn't even interested. I was going to buy a Wii. I considered the 360 yet again at the end of last year, decided to buy a new videocard instead, and am satisfied with my purchase. Believe me, I'm still feeling the aftereffects of the lackluster PS3 launch, total gaming drought, but at least what I'm seeing on the PS3 doesn't make me lose faith in the console a la Call of Duty 2/PDZ/Kameo.

Resistance is AAA, I don't care what Gamespot says. Practically every other review is AAA.

I'm sorry but you're going to have to show me the E3 videos to get me to pay attention to what you just said. On another note, Resistance looks fantastic every time I turn it on. If you know someone with a PS3 (understandably, you probably don't), ask them to show you the last level. It's rul, rul perrty.

And I'm tired of when I go to get a glass of milk and it has that bitter taste to it. You know, like the cow ate a bunch of warheads and sourkraut before it was milked. Come on people we're living in the 21st century here! You'd think by now we would have the abiltiy to keep out milk from randomly becoming bitter. I say we march up to the dairy farmers and big corperate head honchos and say "We demand our milk go unbittered!" Who's with me!?

yes about PS3, no freaking way about the wii. You can't act like the 360 had an AWESOME launch because it didn't. You had CoD2, we have Zelda:TP (which i think is better), you had kameo, we have Wii sports, apart from that, that was the extent of the 360 launch whereas we have 2, yes, count em, TWO award winning games along with Warioware and Blur and Vanguard on the horizon.

Don't lie. Wii still has nothing save for Zelda. At least PS3 has CoD3, FNR3, RR, and some decent demos. Warioware and Vanguard don't even look interesting. How can you compare those to Motorstorm, Rainbow Six, Armored Core, Splinter Cell, VF5? Say what you want about Nintendo...hell, I'll defend that their exclusives are going to be great. But they are having SERIOUS trouble securing software. I can't believe it's selling so well, in spite of practically no interesting software lined up for months. Every time I read a review for a Wii game, expecting it to get a decent game at some point in time...it's always a flop. Elebits, Call of Duty, Warioware. I would only have like 3 games for that system if I had it right now and that's sheerly out of desperation.

360 had a crap launch. Full of ports and PC games. Their best launch title was better on PC, and their best exclusive didn't live up to the hype.

360 needed Gears of War to be a must-have system (unless you're a huge RPG or console FPS fan). So it did take a year for it to be great. And as for PS3, they have Motorstorm, DMC, Tekken 6, Heavenly Sword between now and November. Sounds pretty good to me.

DOA 4, Condemed and PGR 3 also were great. 360 had a better first 3 months then the PS3, no question about it.

Well by your logic, saying that the 360 launch was crap because it was full of ports and PC games, and their best game was better on the PC. Well all of the PS3 launch games thats were muliplat, were better on the 360. And Resistance was their savior. But it didnt even make AAA. The 360 system was a must have system at launch definatly if your an online fan. XBL Gold for the 360 made the 360 a must have. Even in your opinion, if the 360 launch was crap due to its game, it still had XBL. PS3 with its bad launch, also has bad online. Which makes it even worse that the 360 launch.
