IMO fallout 3 is overrated

before you flame... let me tell you something

3 days ago i rented fallout 3 for xbox 360, and i had high hopes for it, and i even looked forward to buying it. the 2nd day i played it, i hated it... and now i hate it even more, for valid reasons.

at first i was impressed. then when i actually got into the combat stuff, the game began to suck hard. apart from the cheesy gun sound FX and the melee looking sort of lame, i could ignore minor problems like that.

what i really didnt like, would be the fact that most of the time i shoot a enemy in the head w/ the VAST system, it doesnt die...A BULLET IN THE HEAD, A HUGE AMOUNT OF BLOOD AND NOTHING HAPPENS! almost every time i grab in fact ANY weapon, i end up killing an enemy from shooting it in the head FOR THE 10TH FREAKIN TIME! id understand  if they had head protection, but they dont. i understand how the VAST system works, and i know where to aim. but it usually has no effect because this game is BROKEN. tell me otherwise why doesnt an enemy die FROM A BULLET TO THE FREAKIN HEAD W/O HEAD PROTECTION OR ANYTHING?  my other rant would be the aiming redicule. its such a pain in the neck to use, mostly because it hardly zooms in, making it useless most of the time, i mean i can sometimes live with it, but in most cases... I CANT SEE WHO TO SHOOT AND I CANT RELY ON THE VAST SYSTEM

its still a pretty good game, it has good GFX, good story(so far), good voice acting, and an amazing envoirnment... but with the broken combat system, its hard not to hate this game

Fallout 3 =/=FPS. It is a RPG and uses HP rather than 1-hit kill headshots. They do more damage, but Fallout 3 is at first a RPG.

VATS works by using your character skills (Big Gun, Small Arms, ect) with the weapon your using to target a part of the enemy body.

EDIT: it real fun to shoot the frag grenades in enemies hands. ^_^

dunno how they survive 1 headshot tho :|

well in my opinion its one of my fav games this gen :) love it played bout 40 hours now

Head shots do more damage, but if you aren't using the right weapons it'll take awhile to kill a high level character. Are you putting points toward Small arms and using small arms, such as Assult Rifles, pistols, shotguns?

LOL, that is why it is an RPG that just so happens to have a FP perspective. This is not a mere FPS. You level up your skills as you progress, and you increasingly will deliver more damage as your stats increase.....if you improve your big guns, small guns stats that is.

Also, you might want try to play until you can get the 'Bloody Mess' perk, then try shooting an enemy in the head at point blank range with V.A.T.S. and see what happens.;) Especially if you are using a shotgun or hunting rifle.

I wish that accuracy with weapons was based on characters skill not players ability to aim (like in Morrowind) . But then cRPG casuals would hate it.

Right now even with a mod that slow down leveling this game is very easy . Im level 11 with 14k caps **** of ammo and more then 300 stimpaks . There is to much loot .

Im looking for a new RPG to buy. I never really liked RPG games, but after Mass Effect everything changed. Im on the fence with either Fallout 3, Fable II, Or Valkyria Chronicles. Mind you...I totally hated Oblivion. Im favoring Fallout 3....would I hate that too? IIJuggaNottII

i dunno, its my first RPG... so rent it first

and btw...how can you guys play fallout on a console? its gotta take alot more time to use your inventory, etc. than the pc....

Its not perfect, and its not GOTY material imo.

But... its a very good game imo and ALOT better then Oblivion.

9/10 for me  ;)

I totally agree.  It just didn't catch my attention and draw me in like Mass Effect did.  I mean I love the dialogue, and the VAST system coul've been awesome, but yeah, the combat is real tempermental.  But I'll probably buy it once it drops to $29.99.

I don't know what to say, I think Oblivion and fallout are yucky.

I didnt enjoy Oblivion, but i enjoyed fallout3, go figure.
