OK, I'll admit, I love Halo(just look at the damn username), and Halo 1 was one of the best launch titles ever(though THE best has to go to Super Mario World), although I admit there were flaws in it like repetitive level and enemy design and there was really no reason to let go of the default Machine Gun/Pistol combo save for a shotgun...
And then I get my hands on Halo 2.
So I'm going through the opening level, experiencing the biggest WTF moment in the form
of seeing a naked Elite
and after the first three levels, I think, oh, this is a noticable improvment over Halo 1. The gunplay feels tighter and the graphics are obviously improved big time.
And then came the Arbiter levels.
OK, I think the Arbiter himself is a great character...
....BUT HIS LEVELS, STARTING WHEN YOU CONTROL HIM THE SECOND TIME, ARE ACTUALLY WORSE THAN THE LIBRARY LEVEL IN HALO 1.
Seriously, did anyone actually enjoy going through those levels? Anyone?
And then the whole game just collopases in the second half, where the levels just get boring, and more boring, and the game pretty much forces you to stay with the shotgun the whole time.
Really, how the hell did this get scores near Half-Life 2? Really? I am one of the biggest console fanboys ever, and Half-Life 2 is head and shoulders better than Halo 2 in every single way, excluding the soundtrack. I'm dead serious when I think this may deserve high A or low AA, it's really obvious MicroSoft forced Bungie to rush the game, because, for example, the game was supposed to have three more levels after the "final" level.
I'm sorry, but I just had to let that out of my system.
