Impressed with the "Balls" of Madworld

With a hot political climate regarding "what is politically correct" and "What is too violent for society" I'm impressed that Madworld has shown the "Balls" it has to come out and make the most gorry, disturbing game (from what I've seen) in memory.

Resident Evil 5 Buckled from the pressure but it seems that atleast one developer has some courage.

I'll be rewarding them by purchasing this game..

If Platinum Games gets props for that, other dev's should too. There are plenty of games more gory, disturbing, and violent then Madworld. cloudff7tm

It's only getting props because its on the wii. Resident Evil was a violent game on the gamecube that tested nintendo's kid friendly image, but it was also an amazing and artistic game.

To me the ''style'' takes away a lot of the goriness in MW. Though I guess it's the only one of it's kind on Wii if I'm not mistaken.

I... Like your balls.

Extremely over-the-top and stylized gore doesn't necessitate controversy. When a white guy is in Africa killing a bunch of black people, then it does.

They really didn't need much "balls" to pull it off, given the lackadaisical attitude put on games like Killer7 and No More Heroes.foxhound_fox

in RE5 you only kill black people but in mad world you kill black AND white people AT THE SAME TIME ! awesome !!

You know, I'm more or less totally unimpressed with any game developer who thinks they're making a statement by making a game *really* violent. Simply put, whenever a game pushes that envelope further - and it has been going on for well over a decade now, time and again and again and again - the developers know that, even if there are soccer moms who complain about it, they have *hordes* of young males who will jump in to defend how wonderful a statement is being made by a game being violent. The reality? Violence has been done, done to death, and the corpse has been violated a few dozen times over. Making a game violent isn't a statement of something new or envelope pushing or even edgy any more, and doesn't risk losing people so much as it secures the adoration of a particular audience at the expense of others. PS - I enjoy my violent games, but don't kid yourselves - no worthwhile statement is being made with Madworld, and the developers aren't showing so much as a flicker of courage by going the route they did.Shafftehr

Is it really? It has stylistic aspects of it that have all been done before.

It's a mishmash of clover's viewtiful joe comic style, sin city's color scheme, and a litte violence.

The stylestic aspect of the game lacks in artistic merit and originality.

Well weve seen alot of love for the game and now its soon to be released we are now seeing the roaches coming out the woodwork who just hate upon it because it tries to add a new dimension to the violent aspect with style over graphical finesse. People are saying "Oh its juzt Sin City" but its not! Its a game, Though it took the aspect of it being colorless. Its not Resident Evil as it has no Zombies and RE was about surviving and not killing. This is not Ninja Gaiden as its not a well known franchise and is OTT slaughtering but is not stylish in the same way(Ninja Gaiden has been out since the spectrum). This game has more comparison to Movies like Battle Royale, The running Man which was OTT violence than games which are released today.

Overall i think this game is getting hate just because people can. I think its a stylish game which offers a OTT aspect on violence with style over graphics which what the Wii is about. Do not say this is like NMH either as that had lot of style but played poorly and was buggy.

I've seen nothing impressive about the violence in this game. Also I really hate the art style I guess its one of those "better in motion" games. I really can't make out whats going on when people post screensUGCoat

Top right corner under your username, click on prefs. Then click on Forums, scroll down a little then put whatever you want in the text box at the bottomUGCoat
