Oblivion? 9.6? Sure it was last year but...duncanvk
my favourite games have always been single player. my most anticipated games this gen are single player games. you lemmings play shooters too much thats why you guys require all your games to be multiplayer.
highest rated and best selling game each gen has always been single player.
Your crusade on mulitiplayer is questionable. Do you have a hard time making friends or something? Single player is great every now and again, but to sit down with some friends and play some split screen is just more enjoyable in my opinion.my favourite games have always been single player. my most anticipated games this gen are single player games. you lemmings play shooters too much thats why you guys require all your games to be multiplayer.

according to GS, it is Oblivion.but as for lemmings your best selling and anticipated games are all shooters, Halo 3, Gears of War, Mass Effect (RPG Shooter), even your MMO is shooter Huxley, GRAW, Lost Planet, PDZ, Rainbow Six.
there is no denying that X360 has other genres but it is still dominated by shooters. for the fact that X360 most anticipated game and soon to be its best selling game is a shooter says a lot about the console. this is one of the reasons X360 is not accepted worldwide.
Multiplayer isn't an important aspect for me. Most of my friends aren't into video games, and I don't enjoy playing with random people who are more likely than not to share such incredible wisdom as 'OmFg ur t3h f@gz0r (insert name of weapon or strategy with mutilated abbreviation here) n00b!!!!11'. Give me an excellent single-player game any day.
I don't think mass effect needs any multiplayer to be honest. GTA 4 would probably also score as well without the MP they're planning. 11Marcel
imo, offline multiplayer > online multiplayer.xxThyLordxx
No thanks. Gears of war splitscreen...yuck.Â

Fair enough. Although Mass effect is most certainly NOT a shooter I agree that the 360 is dominated by them, but that's the reason I got a 360 in the first place - to play shooters and the odd racer, action-adventure, RPG ect.
And I also prefer single player for most games which is why I don't have a Live Gold account yet but it's always nice to have multiplayer available when you get bored of playing on your own. It can add hours of extra gameplay which is why it's so important for most games this gen.
Multiplayer is the icing on the cake, nice, but without a solid single player experience (the cake), it isn't satisfying.
I do like MMORPGs though, I think they come into a different class.
Well, if Spore launches this year then would probably deserve above a 9.5 if Wright can deliver on what he's promised. It's multiplayer but not at the same time. Ibacai

It is online....sort of....Visiting other players Worlds is apparently a major part of the game....I think their is also supposed to be some sort of benifit to doing so.Â

Don't agree at all. Online adds value. Virtua Fighter 5 didn't last me too long at all for two reasons. 1) no real new gameplay options of any kind. 2) No online. That sucked hard. I could pick up Mortal Kombat II for $6 and get the same number of gameplay options that matter instead of paying $60 for VF5. Graphics aside, I wish I did.
What people do not realize is the experience of playing online when you meet up with cool good players. Sure you run into your screeching 13 year old teenybopper every now and then but once you find great people online and add them to your friend's list you are unable to duplicate the amount of fun and interaction you experience online.

Ownage approved! It's just too funny watching the same cows get repeatedly owned.
On Topic: I believe next-gen games will need a minimum of 20hrs of gameplay to score 9.5 & above on Gamespot.

You can get customization options in Mortal Kombat II? I didn't know that. I guess they made an upgrade for Mortal Kombat II.

Do bioshock, Mass Effect or MGS4 mean anything to you. To me it means that multiplayer means nothing if the game is great.  I feel these will be the highest rated games of the next two years, and I am so glad they are not wasting one second on Multiplayer.

It makes perfect sense to cater to the largest market (USA at 45% of the market) while still expanding your library. That's why the x360 has stolen GTA, DMC4, Katamari from the PS3.
Sony has lost its foothold on the USA market to the x360 and the x360 is doing well in Europe.

I don't know about you, but the amount of cheating modding and things of that nature that go on online are what turns me away from multiplayer.  Also I hate playing splitscreen. I did noy buy a 42 inch 1080p tv to only get to play on 21 inches of it.

yea i usually get invites from ppl that i meet on xbl and am cool with so that helps a lot. Plus i can also play with my friends from real life depending on our schedules. Oh also about the screeching 13 year old...i have meet couple them were more mature compare to some teens, young adults, and ppl who are like over 30(seems like the over 30 guys are the worst on XBL)

I think NGS might be one of the games that will get at least 9.5 or higher when it comes out on the ps3. NG/NGB got like 9.6-9.5 and it has no multiplayer option. To me NGB is one of the best games ever made and i havent found a game that can top that game.Â
