In a week, the STILL REIGNING graphics king will turn 1 year old

Released Nov. 7, 2006, Gears of War still has not been touched graphically. Not on the 360, and certainly not on the PS3. Lair failed to surpass it, and Uncharted certainly will not (gameplay videos are not nearly Gears quality). Let's wish a big happy birthday to a SYSTEM SELLER (for me personally, combined with the $200 premium at Microcenter deal) and current reigning GRAPHICS KING. Nothing coming out for the rest of the year looks as good as Gears, including AC and COD4.

It's amazing that it can be that good, for this long!

While I think the visuals in Gears are amazing, it isn't the best looking game to date. Obviously Crysis looks better, but there are a few console games that also look better imo.the-very-best

Released games? Forza 2 had a bigger wow factor for the visuals than Gears did imo. I don't own either but I've played both on a HDTV and they look really nice.

Unreleased: Crysis definitely looks better. UT3 looks a bit better. I think Uncharted looks better too. It really comes down to personal taste though. I'm sure a lot of people think something like R&C or SMG looks better than Gears.

wow....is it a huge coincidence that GEOW on the PC is being released a day before the one year mark?

because then your somewhat wrong...since GEOW on the PC looks noticablly better then the console version.

I would say though...that World In Conflict looks better...even though I know we cant compare them since WIC is an RTS...but WIC impressed me graphiclly far more then GEOW did.

In my opinion, both Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted look more impressive, as well as Lair. Heavenly Sword is also up there. I don't understand why people still think GeoW looks graphically superior, it has already been surpassed in my eyes, though it still looks very, very good.BrownWalrus

that's the latest one I watched. It looked no better than the latest Hitman game to me. And did you see that clunky aiming? It looked like MGS aiming- slow and cumbersome and inaccurate.

GTHD concept looks better and its just a concept.

how could you think that? the graphics are simply awesome. but i do have to agree with you that the aiming looked a bit clunky. but also, it was obvious that the guy who was playing it was extremely bad :lol:

I recently went back and played some Gears campaign and it is still quite an amazing experience (albiet a rather short one). Graphics are a subjective entity so saying one game is the best is hard but Gears is still a very special game in the graphics department and is still one of my favorite games to play online with friends. I reserved COD4 for 360 today because I love tactical shooters and that one looks pretty sick as well.T_0_D

ATTENTION: Crysis will look better than Gears. Then again, it is a PC game, on crazy max-out systems. I am sure that many other max-out PC games will trounce anything on a console as well. Consoles can't really compete very well with powerful PCs. The graphics war that I am talking about is confined to consoles. accameron

By excluding Crysis and the PC from this thread, you're only admitting how wrong you really are. It's like banning the 7ft tall guy from a game of basketball, just because you know he'd beat you so hard..
