It's gotta be CoD 4, followed closely by CoD 1. Everything after 4 has been utter crap.

I've played every single CoD game with the exception of number three, and I hated them all except for 1 and 2. Both great games, but I like 1 better because it didn't have health regen.
+1Campaign: COD1 tie with COD2.
Multiplayer: COD4.
Overall impact(best): COD4. Really it defined console shooters for a generation.

campaign and gameplay alone...no mp....cod1 and uo....now mp otoh.....definitely cod4...i spent waaaaay too many hours playing that game
United Offensive. It had the most intense singleplayer and the best multiplayer. Ironically, stealing a bunch of ideas from Battlefield made it a much better game.
I can't remember which call of duty where you were able to play as the brittish, the russians, and the americans in the single player campaign, that one was the best one to me especially the moment when you were in a convoy of tanks pushing forward that moment still stands out in my mind after all this time, all the other call of duties didn't have as memorable a moment to me anyway. Multiplayer wise, never been a real fan of it, always been a battlefield person.
Modern Warfare 2. It perfects the first person shooter in every way. Hate me all you want, but its true.Skittles_McGeeNot hating, just wondering, have you played the original Modern Warfare? :P
I just figured out how to snipe decently in COD 4 like a month ago. Had some good times on Ambush and Crossfire after that. The first one
Never had so much fun sniping in multiplayer as I did with that game.

[QUOTE="DarkLink77"]How could you like WaW and not 4? I enjoyed W@W's multiplayer maps more, and I liked the weapons a lot better, because there was actually variety to them. Nazi Zombies was awesome, and the campaign was fun. CoD4's campaign was fairly boring (aside from a few excellent levels) and the story was dumb. Oh, look. Russians with nukes. Again. :roll:World at War or Black Ops. Every IW deved game since CoD2 has been trash. And yeah, I include CoD4 in that.

That Reichstag scene from COD 1, again...but not as cool the second time. WAW's campaign was good, but it was entrenched in all the WWII cliches built up by 100 previous WWII shooters. In contrast there weren't many other major FPS campaigns that were set in Russia and the Middle East...I can only think of Delta Force and Soldier of Fortune. COD 4 was mostly derivative of movies in that sense, not other games.World at War or Black Ops. Every IW deved game since CoD2 has been trash. And yeah, I include CoD4 in that.

Of course its all opinion..BUT I have to say that COD2 was about as perfect as you can get..It was so perfect in fact I actually put it up there with MOHAA/Spearhead and that is saying A LOT.
This pretty much right here. I spent so many high school summers playing Call of Duty and especially United Offensive till like 3 in the morning. I'll always remember the massive grenade spams at the beginning of Search & Destroy on MP_Harbor. I still play CoD 4 multiplayer on the 360. Something about it just keeps bringing me back.I would say CoD + United Offensive for single player followed by CoD 4. Multiplayer wise I have to pick CoD 4.
